Hi Dean and Derek,
Its nice hearing from you guys.
The fireplace is coming along beautifully, pat each other on the back for me.
Go ahead and play a few tricks on Amy she seems like a good sport.
Whomever wins the cabin should always have the door open for all of you working hard up there.
By the way when your wives see this you guys might really be dead.

I just wanted to let you know that the new picture that was posted 5-11 is not coming through.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Hope you can fix it. I would love to see what Dean and Derek have done. Thanks.

Dean & Derek ~
So glad to hear you two are on the fireplace detail! I know it will be just as great as I picture it after seeing you two at work on other rock projects. My husband is also VERY happy to hear about the nearby restaurants as well. I'm sure everyone else will agree that this outside area will be the only place to be all year long.

Posted by: cristina at May 11, 2007 6:11 PM

Dean and Derek, If I win, y'all can come on over anytime you want and bring the wives and kids. The more the merrier. Just call first so PawPaw G can throw the hog on the grill. I'll whip up some turnip greens and possum pie to go with it. That's Hillbilly livin "in style".

Posted by: Grandma G at May 11, 2007 8:28 PM

Hi Dean and Derek !

You guys crack us up !! I hope you are being very kind to Amy ~ no hiding ikky bugs or mice in her gear or lunch sack :o(

Okay, the matches will be hidden ~ bring on the kids ! Maybe there'll be tadpoles and cute little fish in the creek behind the Blog Cabin, pack the kids rain boots !

When the Cabin has been won...You guys get ready to bring the exciting iced beverages and The Three Bears and I will get that BBQ grill nice and hot. We can't promise you a pig tho' ~ maybe there're some yummy recipes that would add a chin- or- three to you funny guys !

We'll have to consult our " Kill it and Grill It" Cookbook :o))

...How does French Fried Squirrel sound? Or perhaps we can tempt you with Fricasse of Beaver Tail, or Marinated Musk Rat ?
The Bears have vetoed any mention of Bear Lasagne.
:o) I think we ought to let Amy choose the menu !

Happy Mother's Day Weekend !

Love from Goldilocks and The Three Gourmet Bears :o)

Amy:
Nothing could be finer than to wake up in the morning in this cozy cabin, step out on the porch with with a fresh cup of coffee and the smell the crisp, clean mountain air.
the progress is looking great , you and your crew keep up the good work.

Mr. Marsico & Mr. Stearns,

You two are great! I detected smirks when you both were discussing bugs and mice (I hope your being nice). :)

(If I were to win....)
I absolutely love entertaining and I’m a firm believer in an open door policy. I'm not sure that Kinzel Springs would appreciate a pig roast in their gated community? Although, we could order some of your favorite BBQ items and maybe sushi from a nearby restaurant and laugh over some drinks outdoors. The guys could share construction stories while watching over the kids and us women could bask in the outdoor hot tub (hee hee). You guys really have some great ideas! ;-)

Where could I hide the matches? Perhaps, under a floor board. Somewhere inconspicuous where they won't notice them. :)

I definitely would entertain the notion of fruity drinks but I'm not sure if Amy or you guys enjoy them.

Cheers!

Greetings all! Enjoyed the vlog. Something tells me there's been some *Highjinks and *Tomfoolery taking place with bugs, mice and Amy. I bet Amy finds clever ways to get even though. Sounds like you guys are having a blast.

Not sure when this will get posted but,
I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day.

It is great to see two great professionals working on the fireplace.

You and your families would be welcomed anytime at the home (if I were to win).I'm not sure if there are any restrictions in Kinzel Springs regarding Pig Roasts? I could serve up some BBQ ribs on the grill and entertain with cocktails.

DEAN & DEREK
IF WE WERE TO WIN IT, YOU CAN VACATION AT THE CABIN 4 TIMES A YEAR, AND WE WILL MAKE YOU, AND
YOUR FAMILY A GOURMET MEAL EVERYTIME!

Posted by: Terry & Deb at May 12, 2007 6:39 PM

Howdy Dean and Derek! How do ya'll like being on that "Rock Solid" mountain? Do ya'll feel like your in your "domain", "turf", or "neck of the rocks?"

First of all, forgive me for thinking the fireplace was made out of moutain slate. It makes a big difference when it is made out of "SOLID ROCK!" Real stone fireplace-can't beat that!!

Bugs are neat, but there are only TWO bugs that I really love and that is a butterfly and a ladybug! And you will see this gal jump on a table really really quick when a mice, rat, rodent(call 'em what you will) is spotted!

As for restaurants, glad to hear the barbecue there is delicious and keeping your bellies full! Now have ya'll checked out any restaurants that serve Pigs in a Blanket and Grits? My breakfast speciality if ya'll come over for breakfast! I got my pancake griddle ready! Now I just got to get a cast iron pot for the grits!

Dean and Derek, if we win ya'll got a VIP Dinner Pass 365 days of the year (Amy, Ron, and Watson...too!) Just let us know in advance! And by the way, our first dinner party if we are the winners will be: Smoky Mountain Pig with homemade barbecue and/or vinergarette sauce, Rocky Top Potato Salad, Bloggers Baked Beans, Fiddler's Havenly Hushpuppies, and Rock Solid Smoothies with Tennessee Whiskey for the adults!!And we'll stick one of those umbrellas in there just for ya'll!! Oh! And for appetizers, how about some Kinzel Springs Roll the Drumsticks and Blogger Hotdiggers! Or would you rather have Coon and Rabbit Ears!! (Just kidding!) And for dessert, how about Tennessee Turf Cake!

And last, if we're blessed upon to receive the
keys then ya'll can also vacation there one time a year with your kids...and bring your wives too!!!

Bottom line_win or loose...this is so much fun!!

HI Amy & guys!

I knew it! Dean and Derek were a rip! They must of kept you jumpin' Hope you paid them back in a devious way. Chuckle, chuckle.

Glad to find out things are movin' along. Though I am not sure how fast D&D moved if they each gained 15 pounds. Does that not mean they were not doing the luggin' and liftin' of all those stones for the fireplace? Seems to me they should have worked off all that eatin'.

You can tell them that whoever wins will probably be glad to have them come for a visit, FOR A PRICE!!!!!!!! I sure any one of us bloggers can come up with sumthin'. My husband and I have had many a workin' vacation. Get my drift? There is always sumthin' to do around the house.

At least we know they as usual have done a good job. Will they be back for that outdoor patio area were all expecting to have and outdoor fireplace as well. Keep up the good work. Waitin' for the next installment..

Hey guy's you are welcome for dinner/pig roast any time. Sounds like you are having a fun time down there in townsend. Best of luck, and by the way, the fire place looks great. :)

Posted by: Cindy at May 12, 2007 10:24 PM

Finally, some news! But what a teaser - no photos of building. So where is Rock Solid located?

Posted by: Connie G. at May 13, 2007 7:25 AM

Hi Amy~
I just watched the vlog with Derek & Dean. (There had to be some practical jokes going on when they were there.) I just love these guys as I said in my previous blog. They would be a welcome guest at our home anytime! Even if I don't win the blog cabin they can come for dinner whenever they want, our door is always open! Bring the crew!

Posted by: Karen at May 13, 2007 10:59 AM

Hey Rock Solid Guys. Love the fireplace and the show! You guys make me laugh!

Posted by: Suzie Rames at May 13, 2007 3:28 PM

I see somethings in the background of Dean and Derek's Vlog! Hmmmm? Get we add these wonderful curb appeal ideas to the blog cabin? A walkway made out of mountain slate, a stone fireplace out in the yard with a stone grill and please make it big enough to cook a pig, stone colums on both sides of the driveway, and a beautiful stone patio for the stone fireplace and stone grill! And last, the perimeter of the blog cabin to be outlined with stone for future flowers and shrubs to be planted! That's all "Rock Solid!"

Yaaahooo! Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers and Grandmother Bloggers!

Posted by: carmen &john at May 14, 2007 2:35 PM

Dean and Derek, It's so appropriate that Rock Solid would be building the Blog Cabin fireplace. Thanks for all your hard work and all of Amy's planning. This is such a fun project. I'm dreaming about the cabin and the pig roast we'll have if I'm the lucky winner.

Posted by: Elsie Jean at May 14, 2007 11:24 PM

Pack your banjos for some good ol’ Tennessee fun!

Posted by: Delivery Boy at May 15, 2007 8:05 AM

dean and derek the fireplace looks great. please send more photos of the cabin.

i agree.. a pig pickin' would be a great thing for the new owners to have to celebrate the win of the cabin.

keep up the good work .

Looks great guys...the fireplace is such an important epicenter for a log cabin in the mountains. As for the pig roast,I have the cajun cooking down to an art and happy to share but I must admit I'll need lessons on that one. But visitors are welcome at my cabin anytime. Take care and thanks for the update...

Posted by: Cheryl at May 16, 2007 6:14 AM

HaHaHaHaHa Dean and Derek... a pig? OH Well must need to ask my hubby if he will cook it. I can mix up the drinks I guess with my handy dandy blender.

Great job to all of you working on the cabin. :)

Posted by: Pennie at May 16, 2007 9:05 AM

Amy: Great choice - Dean & Derek to do all the masonry. I love the curb appeal mentioned earlier. I have had a wonderful idea for the next blog project - Dean & Derek do a brownstone townhouse to a 19th century H.H. Richardson plan...8-))

But, seriously, this project is shaping beautifully. All the vlogs are great - better documentation than I've seen before. I hope you'll do a time lapse of construction during the show episode. I guess that's enough gush, but I really am enthusiastic and happy with this project of yours, Amy. Good go!

I am so excited to watch the outdoor fireplace being constructed -- we southern girls (GRITS) girls raised in the south will always have a couple of plates, glasses, and share the food for any construction crew! That is how it is in Alabama -- as the hurricanes brought lots of folks together down here to rebuild in Gulf Shores. Would love to win a cabin to run to during hurricane season. Great job on cabin.

Hi ya all, I sense somthing between you two! I trust that Amy has a sense of humor! The fun that ya all are having, I hope ya all will share later. Who ever wins that place will have the best memories for so many years to come. What a delight to think about at this sorrowful time in our great country. Ya all make it easier to bear. Ya all are doing a wonderful job, and when its time what a shindig there will be! YEEEE HAW

Posted by: ABumgarner at May 18, 2007 5:26 AM

You guys have been working long and hard on the Blog Cabin, wouldn't you like to share it with us?
An extra long slideshow would be perfect to show off your skills. How about it? Please?

Posted by: Kathy Seals at May 18, 2007 10:19 AM

You got it, guys! If I win the cabin, you can come for dinner any time you want! :-D
Great job! Can't wait to see finished product.

Thanks, Dean and Derek, for keeping us posted on your work. Are you preparing the fireplace for the placement of a pellet stove? The picture of the stone hearth and surround fireplace on the Blog Cabin site shows an Avalon pellet stove insert. http://www.avalonstoves.com/Assets/pdf/98800154.pdf

Thank you again for helping to make this cabin a delight.

Howdy everyone on top of ole rockytop Tennessee in Kinzel Springs! Hope your "Open House" went great and wish I could have been there! Looks like we won't make it to the Great Smoky Mountains this month. We are working on a cabin shed now that we are DIYing ourselves. It's been a lot of fun but my lower back is starting to hurt me. I'm gona have to take a ride to my daughter, Amy's, salon for a massage!

Gotta go now, my three month old grandaughter will soon be arriving, Juliana!

Have a great weekend and get lots of relaxation! You folks deserve it and more! Can't wait to see and hear the next vlog or blog and pictures!

Oh! I almost forgot to mention that I left out the veggies for the barbecue dinner...and if we don't win they'll still go really good with the pig pickin! Coastal Corn on the Cob (Corn Won't Grow at All on Rocky Top) and Evergreen Collards!

The cabin looks like coming along very well. Wish that there were more updates on the slide shows. Every week would be nice. Is anyone else having problems with the sound on the videos? Sure would like to know what Dean and Derek are saying?

Posted by: sandi, iowa at May 22, 2007 3:45 PM

Sandi,

I was having difficulty viewing the vlog the first day too. The next day I was able to view the vlog but it took awhile to play. I'm unable to access some of the Kinzel Springs information on their site.

Posted by: Anonymous at May 22, 2007 11:59 PM

I'm also looking forward to additional slide show pictures or another vlog!!! It would be great to see pictures of the back yard. :)

Posted by: Victoria at May 23, 2007 12:05 AM

I can't wait to see the finished fireplace! My husband and I will cook you a fantastic pig pickin' and umbrella drinks if we win!

Posted by: Laurel at May 23, 2007 7:15 AM

Uggg! Love u guy's, but your taking so long to give out new info. I'm dying to hear and see new info on the cabin... Sandi is right once a week would be great. I check out the page every day, and it's a little dissapointing to have my excitement bubble burst day after day. :( , but, I have faith in you, and the rest of the gang, amy. Anyhoo, I'll still be here checking back tomorrow and the next day, and the next day......
