Looks like a scorcher on the Mountain Top ~ the new V-Log shows us some sunburned noses !!!

Hi all - I am happy to see update progress on the videos but am unhappy that I can't hear what is being said. I don't have this problem with any other websites. Any suggestions, anyone? Amy, maybe there can be more frequent updates on the slide show for those of us who cant get the audio. Safe Holiday for everyone!!!!

Hilary, I felt a tear run down my face as there was mentioned of a custom flag pole. Your heart is made of gold to think of this. This idea would hold an immense amount of sentimental value for our family as I lost my brother to the war. If a custom flag pole was made in honor of him, our family would value this. My brothers were very close. I was born the same year his life was taken. Every year I participate in prayer at the cemetery in honor of my brother and all who have or are serving our country.
His information is provided in case I’m blessed with winning………
Robert Dewain Pierce served in Vietnam War. His rank was PFC in the ARMY. His casualty was in South Vietnam, Thua Thien. He is honored on "THE WALL" in Washington D.C. on Panel 2W, Row 67 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Due to misfortunate circumstances his life was taken by an underground bomb. His letters continue to exist today of his training and travels and mostly his enthusiasm to return home to his family. Visit the www.thevirtualwall.org - statistics available.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend everyone. Don't forget to pause at 3pm local time on Memorial Day for the "National Moment of Remembrance". It's the least we can do for those who have given their life for our freedoms.
On a lighter note,If the blog cabin turns out half as cute as these two contractors, it's going to be adorable!

Hello Simon and Chris! Ya'll are doing a fantastic work of craftmanship on the blog cabin! A BIG hand clap of appreciation from all of us that are hoping to win! You both are so talented and I didn't realize ya'll are twins until the video! I'm wondering what other talents ya'll may have such as singing , clogging , or play music? Like maybe a bass fiddle? Hmmmm?
I'm sure Amy is learning a lot about building her first log cabin from ya'll and likewise!
Have a beautiful and safe Memorial Day Weekend and thanks Amy, Chris and Simon for the Vlog! We'll all patiently wait for the next blog, vlog, and pictures!

Hi Amy and the cute crew!
I hope you guys are not working on Memorial Day, that would be a little too diligent and dedicated. I am a city girl also.....moved to the country with new hubby and while I have learned that country boys are the sweetest, the house is a disaster! I am just not into septic tanks, gravel driveways, wall paneling, no storage, faded cedar, old shag carpet, no garbage disposal etc....seems my hubby hss everything that is either old or broken (including me). I am looking forward to seeing the finished project, although, I will NEVER understand why anyone would choose that wormy chestnut door! Are you sure that was the top vote getter??? Glad I finally got to comment about that choice. Have a wonderful Memorial Day and my wish is that all service members have a great day and their families will have a day of peace.

Great V-blog - had to work this past M-day, almost like the most wonderful time of the year. Looking forward to entering and to the WIN!
I'm sure whoever wins it will be most pleased with all the hard work that is being put into the buliding.
I know I'm dreaming about what improvements that can be made by the winners. That is part of my fun anyway. Thinking that this could be done and that will be done (lol after it's all already completed).
Keep up the great work and keep on 'Vlogging'

I look so forward to getting a chance to vote on this smoky mountain cabin. Thanks everyone who had a hand in getting this home ready for the winner. Whoever the winner ends up being. The smokies is one of my families dream spots to live. There is no other place like the smokies it's fun and beautiful. A great place to vacation for families. I personally want to live there. I hope you get it finished and the winner in there before October. There truly is no other place prettier than the Smokies with it's glorious coat of many colors in the (autumn) fall time.

Hi Amy !
Happy June !
You and the Blog Cabin Crew must be having too much fun :o))
The three bears and I are eagerly awaiting the next installment of your V-Log and some scintillating photos of the finished roof and chimney !!!
We are being hit by amazing electrical storms, deluging rain, and hailstones with a tornado watch* thrown into the mix...( is that some type of a new wind-powered clock* ??) heheh ~ that's taking " Green" to a new extreme.
We hope that The Weather Fairy is being kind to you and your crew :o))

Hi Bloggers !
The Three Bears and I thought we would honor Amy's hard work Blogging- and- Logging, by creating an "Ode To Amy", in the form of a Limerick and a Haiku !
Limerick for Amy:
There once was a gal who wrote Blogs,
and hand-built a cabin of logs,
Amy hammered and sawed
until the snow thawed,
What a wonderful crafter of logs !
Amy's Haiku :
Happy Smiles, Loves Fun.
Amy Devers Hardworking.
Blog Cabin Rises.

My husband and I are thrilled to see environmentally friendly ideas being added to the beautiful home of Kinzel Springs!!!

Looking foward to hearing how things are going out there. God Bless!

The cabin and setting are beautiful! You incorporated all of the essential components of the cabin retreat we've dreamed of!
Is it still possible to enter to win? It's not exactly clear to me in perusing the site if the contest is still open...and/or how to enter if the contest is still open (HOPE so!).
Thanks!

Hi Amy and the crew. I hope that you are close to showing us more of the cabin and what you all have been up to lately. It is like waiting for Christmas to see how much you have accomplished. I have never spent anytime in the Smokies and from reading what others have had to say it sounds so wonderful. Who ever wins this little cabin are going to enjoy it more than anything else in their lives. Hope to see more soon.Hope you all are having a wonderful time. ABumgarner

Wow, I wish I'd known about this earlier. What a great idea. I would've loved to have given my input. But, now, I will just focus on winning. I live in CT, but love the Smokey Mountains. I spent alot of time there as a child. The log cabin is as beautiful as the surrounding landscape. But, watch out for those bears.

Hi Amy - I have a son who has a large log home with 8 acres. I have loved this home and would love one of my own as my husband and I are in early retirement with a condo on ground floor in a retirement center. But we would love to have our own log home as we are in our early sixty's and very active with golf and activities. A log home would mean so much for the future as we have raised 6 sons (all have great jobs and families) but we could use the large space a log home would provide to entertain. I just can't imagine winning and what it would do for my husband and I for the future. The log home you have build is beautiful and very well designed. Great Job.

Saw the first two episodes last night. The place is awesome! (Hope I win it :-D ) Okay, a couple of the things I would have chosen didn't win the vote, but I'm not THAT picky. I really liked the choice when you had the weathervane made. Where are the artisans based?
Posted by: c r beatty at August 17, 2007 8:03 AM
Th cabin looks fantastic. I love everything about it. We at one time had land in the Smokies and were going to build there. Just wondered if there is a condo fee and what the taxes would be? Thanks for doing a great job.
Posted by: Bill H from TX at August 17, 2007 6:17 PM
Trying to read all the previous blogs for answers to my questions, but since I did not find, I will ask. Does the cabin have central H/A/C and a laundry room? I noticed this winning floor plan did not show where a washer/dryer would go. Also wondering the size of lot the home sits on and what the property taxes are like out there. I'm ready to run to the mountains, far away from this Florida heat.

Dear Amy,
Build us a cabin to our liking..
Where we can dream, fish & go hiking..
The heavenly mountains kissing the sky,
Breathtaking scenery with birds flying high.
How special a Blog Cabin born in the heart
Where DIY Dreamers&Realists played a big part..
So lucky I'd be to win such a place..In God's Country,Tennessee's space. At least I can Dream
along with the rest. Dreaming & Dreaming what we all do best.Good Luck Everone,Janina

Dear Amy,
This building of the log cabin is great. My husband and I planned on building a cabin when we retired, unfortunately that dream died when he became disabled. You helped me bring back my dream by letting us help design and now watching you build it. The cabin you designed is just how I would of built mine. Thanks for letting me dream a little longer, and I love your show

I just wanted to tell you taht you had done such an amazing and beautiful job. I can imagine myself drinking a nice cup of coffee in that screened backyard, or sitting in the front porch on a rocking chair with my 2 golden retrievers, or listening to some nice music while sitting in front of that fireplace.
I want it, and I want it baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!
I need a place to escape and find some traquility after working as a nurse in Miami.
I keep entering and praying!
Once again you deserve an standing ovation!

I noticed several doors other than the closet door in both of the upstairs bedrooms is that extra storage or is the bathroom a jack and jill. I don't remember the floor plan for upstairs. Could you put one on the website or direct us to where we could find it... thanks carrie
