Amy, Thank you, thank you, thank you for updates on the slideshow. I had just about given up. Please can anyone give me help on why I cant get volume on the videos!!!! I would love to hear what is being said about this great cabin. For some reason this is the only site I have trouble with the audio. I can almost feel the forest breezes while I am sitting on the deck sipping on sweet tea and eating fried chicken. Kudos to everyone involved in the construction process.

HURRAY!!!! We have news! Finally!!!!!

We all know that these things take time, but it is so nice to have some news about the cabin. Glad to see Paul is in command.....

I personally know what it is like to redo a kitchen, I have done it twice in both of our homes. I am currently working on getting my kitchen makeover. We have worked in phases and it is much easier to install all new than to redo the old. Once you get on a roll it seems to constantly having adjust for something. Hope there are slide out shelves. I have a great pantry cabinet(s) now that I LOVE and it is so much easier to get stuff on the back of the shelf.
We took out a pantry closet and made a wall of pantry cabinets. LOVE THEM!!!!

Now we are getting ready for phase three, the old cabinets. Wish I could have replaced them all, but we are updating and organizing what we have.

To anyone who is trying to get organized, there are several sites on the web that have items I have not found in stores. Getting organized in the kitchen is really a good way to get a little organized in your life..

Well, WE ALL, have been waiting for updates, can't wait to see how it is going together. Hope your next 'BLOG CABIN' has a historian that can give us weekly teasers on how things are moving along. It is a lot more fun for us if we have something to comment on. So!!! Come on 'DIY', have someone who can give us what we keep hoping for here. You don't have to give away all the secrets, just give us the teasers like we get on the TV.

Thanks again for the opportunity to see the work in progress, however we get it.

Wow-sounds great!! Paul's enthusiasm is really contagious. And his testament to the craftsmanship thusfar is impressive. Soft close cabinets-how wonderful. I can't wait to see:) Keep the info coming.

HI, me again....

Just saw the pics for the kitchen and stairs, etc. and it all looking good. Thanks for the pictures.
Keep up the good work. Since the kitchen is going in , I believe you have all the windows and doors installed too. Hope the bathrooms are coming along too. Wish we could all be there to watch, no matter how self conscious we would make you feel. I love to watch building go up.

The Forth of July is just around the corner and hope the weather is going to be good. We all love to celebrate. Maybe next year the blog cabin winner will have a big party and invite us all....

Best of luck to all and be safe there in townsend amy and gang.

Hi Paul~
We are already impressed and it's not even finished!!! You are all doing such a wonderful job. Who could ask for anything more...
Oh yeah, one thing, do the gutters on the roof have shields to protect them from getting clogged with leaves. (Considering all the trees surrounding the cabin this could be a big project).

It's great to see so many different DIY hosts come and put their magic touch on the cabin. I'm going to guess that Derek and Dean will be building the outdoor patio and stone fireplace with a great chimney. It would be great if Paul Ryan put in a nice kitchen and barbque with that outdoor patio. How awesome that would be! If you need to look for any "wasted spaces" well, everyone knows who you need to call for that.

I think the partial roof over the balcony is a fantastic idea. That way you can sit out there longer on those warmer days and possibly peek down to see who's sitting in the Jacuzzi.
Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a summer

Great to see how nicely the cabin is coming along. Can't wait to see when everything comes together.

The kitchen is PERFECT!!! I absolutely love the cabinets and island. The design and colors were well selected. :) I respect Paul's expertise and am glad to see him on site.

I love watching the cabin come together and admire the skill displayed in each area.

Amy

Love the cabinetry! The dark green cabinets are a great contrast to the creamy-white island and natural pine walls. And there is an island--not the u-shaped kitchen shown in the original floor plan! Thanks for listening to those of us who were pining (sorry for the pun) for the island. I also see that the sink might possibly end up being a farm-style one. Nice wide area for the fridge (possibly set up for the counter depth style?). Anxious to see what color granite will be chosen. This kitchen isn’t even completed and already it’s beautiful.

At long last! The cabin is starting to look like the one in my dreams. What a great job you are all doing. Hmmmm..... a hidden compartment. Hope it's big enough for margarita ingredients!

Thank you all for the pictures you have shown. It is hard waiting to see updates on the cabin. It sure is coming together nicely. What a beautiful spot to build a cabin. It is not hard picturing yourself setting there watching the sunset or the sunrise with a cup of coffee. Here is three whoo hoo's to you all. Thank you one and all.

When I saw the picture on the slide show of the cabin from the back and the deck, it seems like you're in a treehouse, with all the beautiful tall trees around. Looks great! It's exciting to see progress.

Posted by: southerncharm at June 26, 2007 1:35 PM

I'm fascinated to know more about the hidden compartments. I can hardly wait to see what is in store for the cabin kitchen! :)

I'm also curious to see the countertop, sink, faucet, and lighting.

Hi,
Wow!!! The house is beautiful so far. Just like I pictured it would be. I can't wait to see the finished product. All of you are doing a great job. Thank you.

Hi Paul. What is all that white stuff on the kitchen island-paint or primer? If it is primer paint then let me suggest a wine color paint for that island please. I believe it would compliment those green cabinets. Are the cabinets painted green or is it a green stain? Were they delivered in those colors?

Well about the kitchen-I really admire the style of the island and cabinets, but I am not sure about the white paint. So I'll be the first one to admit that I'm not crazy about painted wood just because I would rather see a warm stain so the natural grain would show its brillance!

I know you'll do a great kitchen renovation on this Blog Cabin with all your expertise! I'm trying real hard to picture what it may look like after your all done! I hope it has a pull out refrigerated wine cabinet in the corner for storing wine! I might need a glass or two! Ya know that secret cabinet you spoke about on the vlog!

If we win we may have to do a second kitchen renovation on the cabinets and kitchen island with some paint remover.

Now Paul I am not doubting or putting down your work in no shape or form just being a true lover of stained wood of warm earthtone colors that's all! We'll be anxiously waiting for that big kitchen impression!

The blog cabin is just beautiful!!! I love everything! The wooded area is so inviting and the porch. I don't think I would even need to go in. But I would knock you down to get in there to get a peek I'm a telling you. I can't tell exactly what color the back walls of cabinets are. But I'm hoping for black. The granite looks black. That would be very pretty with the white antiqued looking island. If I were building or getting a new kitchen that is what I want anyhow. I love all the black furniture out now. The fireplace is awesome as well as being so cozy. I can totally see myself sitting there with a snow on the ground during the winter weather months. Maybe see a deer or bear cub run through that would be fun. The porches need porch swings and rockers please and tables for the iced sweet tea tray for this hot weather and hot chocolate in the winter. I can not wait to see more. You all are doing a gorgeous job. Thanks so much. The winner will be one lucky duck that's for sure.

I noticed that additional kitchen pictures were added to the slideshow today. I'm so thrilled that a farmhouse sink was installed. I'm very pleased with the colors of the kitchen. I can't see the knobs that came with the cabinets but I'm sure they compliment the doors perfectly. Everything turned out wonderful.

I really enjoyed the slideshow of the patio view. It was hard to part with the view and come back here to blog. :)

I love the flower box out side the kitchen window with flower or a little mint and basil . With the sink you have my husband is pulling for a groahe faucet please he said.

Posted by: janet bennet at July 6, 2007 12:36 AM

I love the idea of having a planter outside the kitchen window. It will add to the view when standing outside. There appears to be sweet basil in the planter too. Fresh herbs for cooking porridge when guests arrive. ;) I'd attempt my HONEY bun recipe for dessert.

The column legs on the kitchen island gives personality to the kitchen. (Please make sure that the chairs for the island aren't toooooo big. Goldilocks enjoys them just right!)

An apron-front farmhouse sink!!! I hope the installation went as planned. :)
