Hi Amy, After you get the bathrooms done, do you get to try them out? You know, just to make sure they are working. lol They sound absolutely beautiful. Just perfect for jumping into after a nice long walk in the mountains. What a perfect way to relax.
Since you work with all kinds of "Tubs", will you be hanging around to help install the "Hot Tub"?
(still wishing)
Would be great to see some "Pictures" of you installing them or putting your stuff in one of the bedrooms. (Hint,Hint)
P.S. Love watching your shows

Hi Amy to the Power of Two !!!

Looking forward to a sneak peek at the sumptious bathrooms, steam shower, jetted tubs, aahhhh....how relaxing :o)

We love Paul's kitchen detailing with the turned legs for the center island ~ it really looks like a piece of furniture, and the antique cream color is not only tasteful, but adds brightness to the room.

This kitchen is certainly going to be THE heart of the Blog Cabin Home !

No doubt you have filming crew at the site, and we are all looking forward to the program airing on T.V. in August !!!

Amy your work is beautiful and I have admiration for your volunteer work that began at the young age of fourteen.

Thank you for the update and did I hear you correctly??? A steam shower AND a tub with jets!!! The cabin is absolutely paradise! My relatives wouldn't want to leave when they came to visit, if I were to win. :) :) :)

I love the health benefits that a steam shower offers those of us with allergies and asthma. It would surely be put to good use in our family. :)

I noticed that the steam showers come with several great options. The mood lighting and overhead rain shower caught my eye.

I let my imagination run wild when you mentioned the tub with jets. How soothing, relaxing, and tranquil to bathe in such peacefulness. I wonder if the tub is situated by a window or if a tubular skylight will possibly be installed. I can hardly wait to see the bathroom take shape! :)

My first reaction to the update.....

Was the facial expression of Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone (with excitement)!

Hi Amy~
I feel like you are an old friend, for as many times as you are in my living room already!! So it only makes sense that you should have your own guest room... Love. love, love, all of your shows. Keep up the good work.

Good to see Amy Matthews is going to work on the bathrooms. Love some of the things she has done on her shows. When I get ready for our bathrooms, I hope I get lots of good ideas. Keep up the good work guys. Hope you all have a great 4th of July. Looking forward to the back yard barbecues. Getting to spend it with family is big plus as well. My sister moved here to North Carolina and we will be breaking in her new grill, and cooling off in her pool. Stay healthy, happy and safe, y'awl.

Hi Amy! We're excited to see these gorgeous bathrooms!

For your room upstairs go ahead a carve your first name on a thinly sliced tree trunk and hang it on the door with a piece of leather string. (Amy's Room) I'm sure the winner will be happy to have you as their guest!

If you remember the choices we had to choose from, for the bathroom - The Modern Slate Walkin Shower was the run-a-way winner. In retrospect, I believe the Whrilpool tub or the Clawfoot tub would have added a rustic approach to the cabin. It would've been a closer match to the Country Cabinetry that was voted in. But of course this is the 21st century and I'm sure if we were able to have a modern walkin kitchen cabinets to choose from, we would have. ( I think it used to be called a pantry :) ) Anyway, I was one of the ones who voted for the walkin' shower.

Hi Amy,
I haven't been able to keep up on the site, but am very excited to see what has been accomplished so far. We are headed to Townsend the second week in July. Are we allowed to come see the progress?

Sounds like you have been hard at work and I am so anxious to see what you have done. You guys are great!

Posted by: Tina at June 29, 2007 4:41 PM

Jason,

I love the idea of having a bench on the deck. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Posted by: Victoria at June 29, 2007 10:06 PM

The new pictures are wonderful. Super screen door on the balcony. The window box is a perfect fit. Everything looks awesome. Thank you for all your hard work and the new pictures being posted so quickly. Even though we can't be there to help you, (us being on the sidelines cheering you on,of course)
the pictures help keep us up to date and add to the feeling of us really being a part of building the cabin. Thank you again, Kathy Seals

I am excited just to hear and read the comments from the folks building and other commenting. Keep on!

Posted by: Jim Tillery at June 30, 2007 6:54 AM

Well Hello Jason!!!

Glad to see that you are getting involved too. Figured you would all have a hand and a show or two out of this. The updated pictures are great. It will get hot out in the sun, Jason. So my advice to you is to wear a white hat (NOT BLACK OR DARK) light color shirts and light color pants (shorts if possible at times). It gets hot even on the Smokies. We haven't hit the 100 degree mark as yet, but sometimes those 90's can feel like 100's.

till waitin' for ome more shots of the cabin. Windows lookin' good as well. Hope with them all open you can get a nice breeze moving throughout. I love it when you can do that on a nice day.

So, keep up the good work guys. You need to put something on top of that granite, tools and hardware can do a number on it if anyone's not careful. I hate to see that beautiful surface marred. Had a hammer nick mine, though sealant worked its wonder, I got very upset even though no one else knows about it....

Hi Amy, Ron, Amy and Jason, and camera crew and

sound technicians...have we forgotten anyone ?

Who did the great window box outside the kitchen? ~ plants and all !!! That's a very nice touch.

We LOVE the apron-front sink in the kitchen :o) Whoooeeee !!! The Bears can't wait to do the dishes !

Hope the bugs are not feasting on you in this hot weather ! Did you know that the Ancient Egyptians used to cover a servant in honey? ( The Bears know a lot of facts about honey, it sort of goes with the territory of being a bear !)

... and then the bugs would get stuck on the honey-smeared servant, and not buzz around the Egyptian Princesses and pyramid construction crews :o) ( We made that bit up about the construction crews !)

If you need a " bug trap volunteer" ~ I'll send one of the Three Bears, please provide the honey !

Happy 4th of July !

As I've said before the cabin looks wonderful, but I do have a question. Can anyone answer this?
Is there any way to get to the backyard other than using your front door and going around? I have looked at all the pictures, and the floorplan and I can not see any. Perhaps you can?
There are only two doors, the front and the one that lets you out on the balcony.(I do not see any stairs off of the balcony) What can you see?
Thanks, Kathy Seals

Posted by: Kathy Seals at July 2, 2007 2:59 PM

Good point Kathy! Perhaps they can add a side deck or porch connecting the front and back porches with steps to the back yard!

Posted by: Carrie Miracle at July 2, 2007 8:03 PM

Carrie: I was thinking if they would make stairs coming off the balcony and have the stairs come down a bit to a deck type landing, have the stairs turn and go down a little more, make another deck type landing and keep doing this until you reach the ground in the backyard. This way your stairs would not be so steep.
It could lead to the outdoor patio with that stone fireplace. Both these ideas are great and would look fantastic together,Carrie. Having a walkway coming from the front to the back is a wonderful idea. Perhaps doing it like the stairs and have them come down a bit and then have a landing . Repeating this process until you get safely to the backyard. Just some suggestions.

Hi Amy,

Just wanted to say that my wife and I are big fans of your shows! Actually, I prefer to watch your shows while my wife watches 'Desperate Landscapes'. Hmmmm, I wonder why that is? :)

Those marketing execs at DIY Network really know how to keep ones attention and I think that the bathroom renovation promo with you in the shower is hilarious. Glad to see that you have a sense of humor but with all the different shows that you currently host, they sure are keeping you busy there at DIY!

I guess that means that the ratings must be up or something, eh?

Hope these gigs becomes a major stepping stone for your film career too.

Take care and I'll keep my eyes peeled for any new episodes and future feature films.

Hey Kathy that sounds like a great idea too! Maybe a rustic looking or spiral stair case coming down from the balcony to a side porch or the screened in porch then connected to the patio would be nice. They did promise a patio with a fire place didn't they! Well the back of the house under the deck seems like the idea place to me for the rocked patio area. The stairs from the upper balcony would be not only a beautiful veiwing or reading spot but practical in case of fire safety it would give you the advantage to move freely and safely from one floor to the other. Just a thought! I am looking so forward to being able to see more.. So please leave more pictures at the home blog page for us who have slow polkie computers. So we can view too! You guys are doing a beautiful job sounds like! Having an older computer I can not see the pictures or vidoes you are leaving at the blog. But the descriptions fellow bloggers who can see are just great! I can visualize the progress vividly. And I just love the recycling of the barn wood. It's beautiful stuff. My husband once built an entertainment center out of it for someone. I love the rustic quality of the old nail and worm holes plus the weathered look of it. Maybe if you guys take up the suggestion of the spiral/rustic stair case you could do it in the barn wood with old weathered steel railing or the wood peg barn contructing for the railing. It would be interesting. And ty in the barn wood from the planters and blanket chest and front door.
