And the winner is .....
Blog Cabin bloggers,
Take a second to congratulate Joyce Bennett and her family for winning the 2007 DIY Blog Cabin -- a Smoky Mountain paradise. Joyce's name was chosen from more than 3.2 million entries.
Thanks to all the participants and bloggers for making this year's Blog Cabin a whole lot of fun. It's been an amazing year -- you designed and DIY built it. I am a bit envious that Joyce and her familly will be able to enjoy this cabin for many years. I can only dream about owning a cabin as great as this one.
When Joyce answered the phone and found out she won the Blog Cabin, all she could do was scream with excitement.
"When I got off the phone I was celebrating by shouting and my husband (Bill) wanted to know what was wrong with me. I told him I won the cabin," she said. "I am so thankful that I won this beautiful cabin in the Smokies. We can’t wait to spend Christmas in the cabin. We are on the mountain top with this exciting win!”
Click here to see video of Joyce and her family seeing the cabin for the first time.
Joyce, pictured below with her family, is a grandmother of two and is retired from First Tennessee Bank. Joyce, center right in photo, and her husband have been married for 42 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.
Thanks again for making DIY Blog Cabin a great success in 2007.

Congtatulations to Joyce Bennett and her Family !!
We are so very happy for you! How amazingly lucky to be chosen from over 3 million entries in The Blog Cabin Sweepstakes !
We can't even begin to imagine the excitement that Joyce experienced when she discovered she was the lucky winner !
We'd like to share a funny story with all the bloggers here...
After the competition had ended, I went on-line and looked at the "Rules" ~ the winner could be notified by overnight courier, on or about the 11th October.
I thought no more about it, and was busy baking cookies that morning...when the doorbell rang, I answered the door on the morning of the 11th of October ~ it was the UPS courier with a large envelope!!!
I thanked him and, heart pounding with adrenaline, I turned the envelope over ... it was a credit card for my daughter Olivia. Ah, well, THAT was an exciting moment for me !
As the day went on, I thought no more about the competition and was busy making dinner, the doorbell rang ~ it was a Fed-Ex courier, yes !!!
...the envelope was for my husband ( he had left his check book someplace, and someone had VERY kindly returned it to him !)
Anyhow, I had two VERY exciting moments thinking we had won the cabin !! heheh
So, Joyce, Have a wonderful Christmas in your new Cabin, you must have been so VERY excited and pumped with adrenaline to hear you are the lucky winner !!! Enjoy !!
Sincerely,
Love from Goldilocks and The Three Bears :o)

I wish I could see your blog cabin all decked out for Christmas. Could you all post us a picture of you in front of the christmas tree or the cabin with a snow. Congratulations to you Ms. Joyce and your family. What a wonderful gift you have received. I still say Tenn. is "Gods Country". We live in SC and we try and rent a cabin in Gatlinburg (our honeymoon retreat) every couple of years. I do wish you many wonderful memories and please say a prayer for me to win the 2008 giveaway.
Looks like SC lost to Tenn in this wonderful giveway and in college football too. Maybe next year!! Again...Congratulations and truly enjoy.
DIY you are a "Dream Maker" - Thanks!!

I love this design for this blog cabin. I would like to know how to enter to win the blog cabin. I have a few bids in at an auction site to buy property in Nevada or Arizona. 'm trying to keep my family together. I live in a Mobile Home which is to small for all of us but I'm disabled with a heart condition, and both my sons are going to school. One to get his truck drivers licence (big rig) and the other is going into the engineering field. My oldest so has a little boy who is 2 years old I need my family near me so I'm looking into land so I can put a couple of mobile homes on it so we can have our own homes to live in and at the same time we can be close to each other in case of an emergency. I'm on SSI that's $870.00 a month and my son aren't making much money working part time so it's very hard. We live on a lot of Top Ramon.
Any way Is there a way that if I win the bid on this property that you could help me build a couple of homes on this property. The two property's are 10 acres and the other one is 40 acres. I've had a fear of being one of those people pushing a shopping cart and living under the freeway overpass ever since I became disabled when I was 26 years old. I've had 3 pace maker surgery's a collapsed lung the Doctor did it trying to put the pace maker in. a perforated heart from the Doctor putting the pace maker in. I have had 6 angiagrams Open heart surgery and two strokes. One of which was about 3 years ago. The Doctors told me at age 26 that I'd be lucky to live another 2 years with this heart condition. I 'm writing all of this to let you know how determined I am to finally give my sons the life I never was able to give them. Their entire lives have only been an existence not a life ! I've never had a life either, The only life I ever had has been a glimpse of what life could be as my boys were growing up but that glimpse came at a very high price I was beaten everyday for 5 years with a man I thought could give me that. I left him before he killed me and my sons and I moved back in with my parents. I have been with another man for the past 16 years and he hasn't worked for 2 years. He puts so much tension in the air in this house. I've got to get my family away from this situation it's too stressful . If you would be interested in doing a show where you can build multiply home on one property please contact me. If not I need to find out how to enter any and all your home giveaways.
I can't afford to pay rent anywhere and so if I do get this land we might just be living in tents on the property. I won't rely on a man to help me and my family have some sort of a life. We are survivors and I taught them how to survive on the street or camping .
Thank you for reading this sorry it was so long . I wanted you to see the whole situation.
Thanks from a determined mother needing to have her family close to her. I'll never give up I'M A FIGHTER. Just want a clean and comfortable place to live.
