Thanks Y'all!
Hi Everybody,
Yea Joyce Bennet! Huge congratulations to you! I hope you will have many wonderful years, meals, holidays, regular days and memories there. I’m thrilled that you have plans to spend Christmas there with your family. I hope it’s your best Christmas ever. We’re all very, very happy for you!
To all of you who didn’t win this year’s Blog Cabin, I understand your disappointment and I’m sorry I couldn’t build a log cabin for each one of you. But the good news is you get another shot at it in 2008. So convert that disappointment into hope and channel all of that energy into ideas for making next year’s cabin even more D-luxe (and green!) You (all y’all) are the crucial component in this.
So, just in case you couldn’t tell, I really loved building this cabin. I mean it was frustrating at times, sure, and man, it was blazing hot up on that roof! (I seriously think I cooked my internal organs up there. No kidding.) But the whole experience was immensely rewarding, largely because of you (all y’all.) I truly felt like we were in this thing together from the get go. As for the construction of the cabin, I hope you know I had your back (sometimes much to the dismay of the subcontractors) because I definitely know that you had mine. (Um, thanks for helping me out with that little window issue.) Reading your comments and suggestions has been my favorite part of this whole Blog Cabin experience and I will miss it terribly. This is my last blog entry, so before I go I want to make sure to give you all a big, fat thank you for all of your help.
Thank you (all y’all.) I mean it.
Keep checking back here frequently because the Blog Cabin 2008 team will be posting regular updates and asking for your opinions on everything.
It has been such a pleasure. Keep in touch, ok?
xo,
Amy

What!? Does this mean you won't be building the next Blog Cabin? Please tell me that's not true. If not you then who? Surely DIY wouldn't entrust a design-by-committee project to an auto mechanic, gardener, crafter, or stone mason so it would have to be another builder. But I don't know any other builder on DIY who is also a designer. That's why you're perfect for this.

Amy,
Thanks so much for giving all of us bloggers such a fun time this past spring and summer. I can only speak for myself, but I had a great time being a part of the whole blog cabin event. It will be nice to start all over again on Blog Cabin 2008, but this one will probably remain in all of our hearts as the most fun and the most memorable. Please say thanks from me to all those who worked so hard alongside of you to make 2007's blog cabin such a success. I think we all appreciated all of the hard work each of you put into cabin.
I truly hope you will be involved in the next blog cabin as well; it just wouldn't be the same without you. In case you can't be though, we know that another great person or persons will be provided from DIY. You are pretty doggone special at what you do
though.
Good luck in the future in all your endeavors!

Amy, have a wonderful christmas. And I know what you are talking about being hot on top of the cabin's roof. Only a person who has worked during the Summer months in the fields, know what you are talking about being hot (that's me). Thank you for all your time and work that you put building the blog cabin. Please don't be a stranger. Sincerely, Carolina Capetillo

Thank you Amy D. for a job well done. You couldn't have chosen a better site to build a cabin on with all the green going on in the mountains of Tenn.

But you guys worked so hard for everybody. So thank you Miss Amy and everybody who worked/ sweated so hard to make this blog cabin a blog home for the surely blessed Bennett family. Amy:
My wife and I finally had a chance to watch the 2007 blog cabin episodes. We were completely shocked because the inside and outside of the house looks almost identical to the house we are currently building (Only ours has vaulted ceilings and an open loft). It was so nice to see what some of the features we wanted looked like in the completed project. If 4.2 million voters chose all this, then we should have a house that everyone will enjoy.

Hello DIY; Amy you are doing a great job. It's not easy being fun to watch and also being knowledgeable about what you are presenting!! Will the 2008 home have a seawall and or pier and boathouse? I hope the windows facing the lake will be as large and open as possible. Atta boy and great job to all. If you need any help call me!!! Best Regards, Jim Mitchell

Congratulations to the lucky Bennetts, I wish them many years of enjoyment in their fabulous new home! Amy I do so hope that you and the twins will be back.

I watched the building of the Blog Cabin all day on New Years. It was great. I love having input on building the cabin. I have built several homes and that is my favorite part, picking out the floors, windows, etc. I love it. Thanks for letting us indulge our creative designing.

I'm a newbie to Blog Cabin. I happened to catch
2007's episodes last night. I didn't have your channel before, but now that I do.....
I'll be following this closely, because a log home has always been my dream, and a lake home has always been my husband's dream!
So glad to see the family that won the 2007 home has little kids. It'll be perfect for them!
BTW- What night will BlogCabin 2008 be on?
Thanks!

Hi, My family and I enjoyed your 2007 blog cabin so much we were so excited when you started the new one. My computer is not working so good at the moment I have to get it into the geek squad. So I was unable to view the video of the building site. I cant wait to watch it again on DIY. Where is it you are building this year? It looks like a lovely place on the lake. Well good luck to all who enter this year. (But I hope I win it) LOL. I also hope Amy and the twins will be back this year as they were so much fun to watch. You could tell Amy loved the cabin so much and was truly upset when it was over. Well good luck y'all. Lesley & family.

I had so much fun voting for last years home and most but not all of my choices were chosen. The only thing I do not like on the cabin I picked this time is the domers. Instead of 2 I think 1 large one on the front would be best.

Whats a cabin without a wrap around porch. The San Jacinto floor plan is beautiful and functional. Just imagine sitting on the porch with a glass of wine watching the sun set in the evening.

Amy you were fantastic and I felt like I was already living in that cabin before we got to vote. Maybe I'll have a good chance at the 2008 Blog Cabin. I'm in Nashville. Wish me luck!

I really like what you're doing with the concept of a blog cabin.I'm sorry I missed out on the first one.I really liked it. I like the "D" log concept. It can open many oportunities for add ons in the future. There is nothing more romantic and intimate than a wood burning fireplace! It just sets the mood for, well you know..... The hanging pendant light creates an open and inviting space for all who enter this entry to your home. I hope Amy Devers hosts this next Blog Cabin. She has the personality, sense of humor, and expertise to do another great job. Besides, she's HOT. Keep up the good work for all of you in the DIY family for your own shows and especially working on the 'BLOG CABIN' !! Good luck. Live long and proper.Tom
