Everything looks great so far.

Just one question thou, will the great room still have a feel of a log cabin? I know we were voting on the paint colors for it, but will there still be logs visible in the great room?

I think everyone has done an amazing job so far. I can't wait to watch the show when it starts.

I can only hope I would be lucky enough to win this amazing home.

This is my first on the blog but I have been voting almost since the begining.

Take care and keep up the amazing job.

Watson, thank you for keeping us in the loop of things....now we do not need to fear of a Blog Cabin OCD melt down....:-) I'm really looking forward to the 360odegree cam inside the Log Home.

Clive, You are back!! :-) Thanks so much for sharing on the psycholoical dynamics to sweepstakes of this sort. I was thinking in that same realm. Everyone needs to remember that reality is that millions are entering this sweeptakes beside ourselves; so to prevent any Blog Cabin (post) depression; remember what we, (with all the fun and excitement) have all learn, and gained.....knowledge and best of all friends! :-)

A Muse, Thank you so much for your poem of the Blog Cabin experience...You, my friend have missed your calling!....you are a wonderful writer! When your best seller comes out, I will buy one, however I need to have you sign it :-) Great reading! :-) Now I am waiting for Erin.....ok Erin, where are you....we are waiting!

Hey guys,
I got a chance to visit the cabin 2 weeks ago. I was in Wolf Creek for a family thing and I found out the cabin was less than a mile from where I grew up. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and the lot it's on is perfect. I wish I could have made it down to meet you guys and gals but I'll be watching this fall. The show is great, keep up the good work.

Watson,
Is August 14th the day the cabin is given away or is it the day we will begin to cast our "hat in the ring" to win the cabin?

jane

Watson: Hello Jane, August 14th is the first day you will be able to register to win the cabin. It'll be a familiar setup: register to win, then return each day, enter your email address and enter again. The sweepstakes will last appx. six weeks. Aug. 14 is also the premiere of Blog Cabin 2008, the series - at 9pm and 9:30pm ET. Cheers!

Okay, Questions Answered ! Thank You once again my dear friend Watson for your ever delightful response.

Hope the weather in you area is doing well for you . And that family and friends are doing fine as well. I am hoping you might also be with us during these times. Thank You so much for all of the wonderful work you have done for this blog and helping this wonderful blogging family. You are THE BEST EVER !

Posted by: BlognBob at May 30, 2008 8:23 PM

Wow! It'll be really soon when I get to meet my new neighbors!! I am praying it will end up being one of my blogger friends!!
I do have a request from the DIY guys though-- If I don't end up on the editing floor giving my brownies to Ahmed-- would somebody please let me know when it will be aired? I really want to tape it. How often do you end up on something like that.

I was also just thinking of all of my blogger friends too. Katie was in the lake swimming all afternoon with 4 other kids and having a ball. (It was in the high 80's today.) She got a pretty good sunburn, as she 'forgot' to put the sunscreen on her when I told her to. So, I just slathered her down with aloe. I just came in from sitting on my deck watching the bats and the fireflies too. Ahhh-- whoever wins the blog home will be so happy here. I know I am. BTW-- I took a drive in to see the blog home today and almost nailed a deer who ran out in front of my car. So, anyone going in there, be careful, as there really are quite a few deer around here too.

Down to the homestretch....will we ocd's go into "voter withdrawal?"

Watson: I was thrilled to hear about the plans and 360 degree tour of the basement until I realized you said "August." August??? How can we survive that long?

A Muse: Loved your poem. What a talented group we have!

Still praying for Cabincraver & Erika.

OH NO! THE END IS COMING!!

Say it ain't so, Watson. :(

Well, I must say it's been a pleasure. I'm not going to wax long or lyrical but I've enjoyed the blog and watching the build of this beautiful home.

I need a new slide show...I've tried the vlogs and I can't get them to load....they just keep spinning the wheel and going nowhere.

AHMED & WATSON, ya'll been mighty quite on the blogs recently...what's happening? I know the voteing is about to end but don't forget your blogging buds. We're still waiting anxiously and peering at the fuzzy cabin cam pics. Give us a progress report, Sally did.

Ahmed, will we be able to see the fence on the cabin cam when you put it up?...I know, I know...the voteing ain't over, the fat lady hasn't sung a note but still the fence is gonna win! (I voted for the elevated garden! (Big sigh!)) Is the driveway gonna receive special treatment or is it gonna be plain concrete or asphalt? Are we (the lucky home winner) gonna be able to unload groceries from a car on the leftside porch access? (You know how I hate carrying groceries up stairs!) :)

Come on guys, I know you don't want to give away all your secrets, yet, but give us another peek!

I'm gonna stay tuned and keep an eye out for new developments. If I haven't told you lately....you're doing a great job...the house is beautiful...it is gonna make a wonderful home!

Posted by: Becky at May 31, 2008 2:14 AM

Oh, thank you for the new information - I've really been worried that the whole site would just go "POOF"!! Thank you for all that you've done Watson - keeping us/me informed and being so very patient. Same for you Ahmed. You've got to know how much I (all ALL of us) are looking forward to watching the show and you. I know that I will absolutely cry when someone/anyone wins this phenominal home.

Posted by: Therese at May 31, 2008 7:14 AM

Watson, we're all looking forward to the season premier on August 14th. Good job outta you! :-)

Dear Watson,

Thanks for letting us know what's next in the wonderful world of Blog cabin 2008. Again, you all have done a solid job and created a memorable experience for all of us bloggers.

I, for one, will continue to be a regular visiot to the web site and can't wait for August!

Farewell, fellow bloggers - it been a blast!

Posted by: Tingoat at May 31, 2008 9:04 AM

Oh no voting is coming to an end and the pastels are gonna win for the color choice in the great room.*sigh* Also Serinity Shores is winning for the name. Double *sigh* *sigh* Although I had thought of "Serinity" for a one word name. I quickly changed my choice to Waters Edge when I saw the choices. Of coarse I won't care if I'm the lucky one who wins this beautiful cabin.
I've noticed a lot of bloggers saying their goodbyes. Will this blogging board go away when the voting ends?

Posted by: racytay at May 31, 2008 11:05 AM

WATSON! AHMED! DIY STAFF & SPONSORS !
I can't wait for the rest of the info.... HURRY, HURRY! I know it's not over yet, buddies!
But...
I must see the inside of our beautiful BARNA HOUSE all dolled up! I'm especially, excited about that 360 inside tour, more photos, and the series on August 14. I'm marking my calendar and it's a virtual date! Thursday: Aug. 14, 9:00pm. ET... I'll meet you in front of the magic window, the television. I also look so forward to the lessons to come for us diy'r students from building the bblh. I would also love to see some of the home projects that will be inspired from the cabin itself. So I can't wait to finally see the whole package wrapped up. Again thank you all for this beautiful gift, the whole process, from conception, blogs and all the cooperation, gifts and love everyone put into this house. And the sweat and back breaking hard work as well. And of course all the donators, Barna, Lake front, DIY & staff, web & tv, rvr media, and all the individual donators, The contractors, Chris and Simon, etc. from the windows, roof, paints, doors, walls, plumbing, electricity, furnitures, & household stuff like appliances and personal home needs. I guess I should just say everybody that had anything to do with blog cabin. I love you all and the cabin with all my heart. It's a real dream! I love it better than any of the dream homes from sister hgtv. They do a good job too, and I'm thankful for that chance too, But I like diy better! Without all you together there would be no blog cabin. And without your audience and blog designers, no winner! We all are so thankful for the chance to win the big beautiful home and have input in it. And I can't wait to get on the 360 tour, focused and actually see more of the details. Don't forget to add a zoom button. I so loved all the wood beams, and log walls, the fireplaces, the porches, and the awesome park/lake view from every window and door. It was a shell when I viewed it but now it will actually be the home we all are picturing in our heads. It's the perfect place to be & seems like such an awesome town to raise kids.
I knew the 360 was coming but had totally forgotten about one being available. I've been so excited this whole project. I love blog cabin, the whole process and the whole thing. I know some of you onsite and dealing with all the probs think I'm crazy. It's stressful for you all I'm sure, with crazy schedules and deadlines to meet. You worked so hard, Good luck guys, Your work is beautiful. I thank you all very much, I really really do! I'm so _x_ _ _ _ d & c_ _ 't H_ _ _ It!~~~

Kind of sad of the voting stopping. Have not been blogging on this for awhile, doing the Green Home and 2009 dream home. Now I'll just read the blogs and wait for August 14th. Good LUCK to all and thanks DIY,Watson and Ahmed you guy do a GREAT job building homes for dreamers like me.

I have even learned how to comment!! Finally

I think everyone has done a great job on the cabin and I can't wait until august when we get to see the finished product. Not only is the cabin great but whoever wins will have the opportunity to live a whole new life style. The location is perfect and sitting on the deck looking out at the lake would be a dream.
I will continue to check in on the progress and can't wait until the sweepstakes begins. I will be voting everyday in hopes of being the lucky one!

Posted by: cntblv20 at May 31, 2008 1:02 PM

Thank you Watson. I hadn't gotten around to asking exactly when we could start entering. August seems so far away, but last year the time just flew by. You guys are doing a great job! ~Betty~

Posted by: Betty Wilcox at May 31, 2008 2:09 PM

Hi I would like to say thaks to all you folks for building the cabin and goodbye to the bloggers and to the voting. can't wait for the show loved last year.

Posted by: rock at May 31, 2008 3:28 PM

Now that I am working full time, I no longer have much time for anything! I find that even my computer is getting dusty, so today I'm blogging the dust away. If I knew what the sweepstakes rules were, I could start doing my postcards, stamping them and then waiting until the proper time to send them out...but then again, my two dogs would probably eat them before I could send them in the mail! Even if I don't win, this certainly has been fun...wishing, hoping.

Posted by: Jan in AZ at May 31, 2008 5:44 PM

Well, I guess this is about it. No more voting starting Monday. This has been lots of fun trying to decide what would look best and getting to know so many great folks. Thanks to all for the stories, descriptions, advice and sharing of your lives with the rest of us. What an interesting blog family we have become. Can't wait to see what DIY comes up with next.

Did you notice in the slide show that the rain got the deck wet on both sides and only left the area in front of the fireplace dry. As mentioned before, the logs were wet inside, too.

Who was on the porch on the 31st.? That wouldn't be Helen, would it? Or maybe Sally?

Thanks again everyone. I'm sure there will be lots of blogging yet to do.

Posted by: Nancy at May 31, 2008 9:18 PM

Thanks guys.....you have done a great job!
We will still be checking in everyday for
this new phase of the blog cabin, as the
finished product is what it's all about!
Staying tuned, The Dale's

The cabin looks amazing. It even tops last years cabin...and I really liked last year's cabin. My favorite feature is the wrap around desk/balcony.

Posted by: Edwin J at June 1, 2008 10:00 AM

Hello Everyone,
Well tomorrow the voting ends for this gorgoeus log home. It sure has been a fantastic and thrilling experience to be able to vote for the construction and design features for such a beautiful home. Thanks! AHMED & WATSON and all the other experts that had a hand in constructing such a gorgoeus log home. I have seen the most recent pictures and they are awesome. I am anxiously waiting until the date we are able to enter the sweepstakes. This would really be a
dream come true.

Posted by: VT Charlene at June 1, 2008 10:33 AM

I have been gone for a week. I see the metal roof is on and looking at the recent slides which are behind in time but the cabin is looking great.
I was wondering about the inside slide from the loft. It looks like water or rain got inside. I hope it will not mess up the stain work. When we built our home the front door got a little wet and the stain did not do right.
The patio circle looks good.
I do wonder about the back splash Ryan was doing. I thought a granite back splash won. It looks like tiles he was spacing.
Like I said I was gone for a week and have not opened the prior group of blogs. I will try to catch up some today.

I will be watching the cabin cam for progress. I really want to see what Ahmed does for landscape.

Posted by: Frances in Texas at June 1, 2008 11:23 AM

Hi Fellow Bloggers,

I just voted my last time like all of you. I would like to say thank you to everyone and say what a wonderful experience this has been! Like all of you I don't know what they have in store for us as far as blogging but I did add the blog page that was posted to my favorites so I can stay in touch. I feel as if we have all come together as one big family. :>)

I want to thank everyone at DIY for giving us this opportunity to get to know each other, express our ideas and all their hard work!

My OCD is already out of control and I can not wait to ride down this summer see the Log Home and hopefully meet Helen and Sally. Maybe I will get really lucky and see some of you there if you are planning on going there this summer!

Words can not express how I feel about every thing and every one involved.

I like all of you am missing Cabincaver and praying for her and her family.

I pray you all have a great summer and have time with your family and friends.

Best of Luck to all of us on winning this beautiful dream come true Log Home!

Baskets of Blessings to all

I just want to thank the Lord for getting the opportunity to have meet such wonderful folks as yins have all been... And to let you know how blessed I was to hear yins reaching out to anyone that would like the Lord to come into their hearts as well.... Which leads me to say,

If I never get to see yins here, I'll be watching / looking for yins in heaven...

Talk about a REUNION!

Hi...

A. Muse .... You have certainly been a bright spot for us all in this Blog! I, for one, am thankful for your posts...fact-filled and fluffy and fun... they have all added to the substance of this Blog. Thanks for each and every one!

And, I am one of those who hopes your 'clues' have not been missed by the 2009 Blog Cabin Planning Group. The information in the past about pre-buildout of closet space configuration for the elevator and the info on ramps and dumbwaiter installation really could be applied to the next planned build if the idea is there from the beginning.

And, the well researched and well presented ideas for additional amenities that have been supplied by others should really be considered during the selection phase of next year's project.

It would be a shame if all the great ideas that have been offered over the last several months were not being collected for consideration on future projects.

Posted by: Jenn at June 1, 2008 9:37 PM

Nancy-
No, that wasn't me. I did take the kids over there yesterday to check on the progress, and there was an electrician's truck there. So, it was probably the electrician on the front porch. (Or, was it a plumber's truck?) You'll have to excuse me-- my brain is rather frazzled from the last 2 weekends. LOL

dang this is almost over . my husband says the serenity name sounds like a treatment house. :(. oh well many of my votes were unpopular, but it is a group effort.
the may issue of "country living" has a cabin house plan in the back of the issue, if i was to build and design my dream home this would be it.
cont to pray for cabincraver and erika
will miss this part of blog cabin but i suspect that there will be a 09 blogcabin and many familiar bloggers will return i know i will.
soo good luck to all,
thank you watson ahmed and all the fab workers and builder types that had input on this project.
also thankyou again to watson and ahmed for your patience with the bloggin family .

I want another VOTE! A run off between the pale pallete and the COLOR! It's pretty plain that more folks want color but their vote has been diluted split 3 ways. It's just not right! Come on guys give us one last chance, a run off between the top two selections! (You could do that for the name too!)

Now, having started with a complaint and plea I'll move on to another plea for more pics during the summer as you finish up this beautiful home. We bloggers will still have our eyes focused on the cabin cam. But with only those two pics a day we'll just be able to follow Ahmed's progress on the front of the house and somewhat on the sides. Come on guys, I know that once the interior designers take over you won't let us have a peek inside. How about giving us one last look around before that happens....pleeze.

I'm going to look forward to seeing another slide show 'cause I still haven't had any luck with the vlogs. AHMED & WATSON: Will you continue to read the blog and comment from time to time? I know many of the bloggers have pretty much been saying their farewells, but if the blog is going to be open, I bet they'll still be around!

I'm staying tuned!

Posted by: Becky at June 1, 2008 11:55 PM

We are going to miss the voting part of the Blog cabin too. It has been a learning experience. Thanks go to Watson, Ahmed and the DIY crew.

My last vote - done. Its a wierd feeling - sad and exciting all at the same time. Thank you to everyone, Bloggers and Builders - for the fun, the education, the view of the site and the building of the cabin. I'll just keep working on my backyard and dreaming of all the potential - for the cabin, the future and even for my gardens!! I would so love to go kayaking on that lake - it looks so peaceful. I've set my calendar - like so many others - and I will stay tuned to this website.

Oh how SAD going to miss all the wonderful and caring bloggers and Ahmed and Watson. The blog made my mornings go by fast. Well I cand spend some of my time searching on line for deer resistant plants that do not need full sun, that will keep me busy (grin)

To all that asked yes I am feeling better, but now have to contend with the smoke coming into the area from Mexico they burn their fields this time of year.

I thought that if I put the url in the box of my home page it would give you a link to it maybe you have to click on my name at the bottom of the post.

Has anybody heard from cabincraver I think of her and pray everyday.

Still praying for rain(no thunderstorms) just rain lake is down 20 feet.

Love all the bloggers

Hi One and all. A great weekend (at last) warm, sunny and no strong winds. Maybe spring/summer has arrived at last up here in WI. I have sore shoulders from canoeing for 4 hrs with the family on Sunday. Kids and Susan were having so much fun watching the yellow headed blackbirds, ospreys, herons (blue and green backed), muskrats and other critters that I was relegated to being the propulsion unit for the duration. I suppose the cardio workout was good for me! We caught 6 northern pike, 5 bass a couple of catfish and a few pan-fish which added to the fun. I also have sunburned knees as I forgot the sunscreen. A bad example to set the kids who were laughing at my bright red knees this morning.

It looked very wet at the cabin yesterday, quite misty too. I hope it didn't spoil Helen's & Katie's sleepover and swimming.

I have a question for Ahmed or Watson. Will there be any gutters on the house or will it be just runoff all around? Just interested, especially if there are no gutters, how the cabin will handle big runoff in heavy rain?

You guys are right! I am really blessed being a stay at home mom and a Christian and I'm so thankful for being both. It sometimes gets stressful in everyway possible. emotionally, physically and financially. I tend to get a little bored & worried & frustrated at times. I'm a little bit hyper and passionate about things I'm interested in. Can you tell? But I do love being a mom. Like I said before I'm in no way perfect at it. I have and do mess up daily. But at least I have learned alot of things being where I am and I can be better at it and hopefully I will learn more and be the best that I can be at being a mom,& wife and person. It's the toughest job on the planet. Trust me! I'm proof. I know you mom and dad's know that!
And yes I have a family~ that's building a home without walls without boundaries and emotionally unbound except by fears and failures. We have to have faith, trust, love and forgiveness and compassion to keep things bound tight together. Family should always be first in everything and anything we think or do. Well I gotta go supper is probably burning.....

Watson, thanks for your timely answer! Now I think I need a "count down" calendar. August seems sooo far away!!

Thanks to all that have been involved with the process, I am truly amazed at all the talent. I look forward to all the videos now.

This has been my third year doing the blog houses and out of them all...THIS IS THE ONE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY! Our home burned down not too long ago and we'd love to move into this beauty! I hate to have the voting end, but that only means we are getting closer and closer to the entery faze! I cross my fingers and say a prayer! We did a wonderful job this time guys! (We have done a wonderful job EVERYTIME but this time we did a exceptionally wonderful job!) Good luck EVEYONE! Well, Yeah...Good Luck! ESP. To ME!
It's Been Real fun!

Posted by: Windy at June 2, 2008 5:55 PM

Guys and Gals,
We did an exceptionally wonderful job! We have all done some great jobs on previous homes but this one stands out a cut above the rest! (I suppose we all learned from prior mistakes!) My family lost our home to a fire not too long ago and it would be wonderful to win this home, out of all the homes i've been involved in blogging and building or simply entering their contest, this is the one that suits my family the best! I can see happy times in the future for whoever wins this master piece! I'm kind of bummed out becuz the voting ended but I just keep telling myself that it's just a step closer to the entery stage! I sure hope it's one of us that have been involved from the beginning, that wins!(And not some lucky "Joe" who enters by chance the one time!) Well...yeah, Good Luck to us ALL, ESP. ME! I haven't left alot of msgs. here before but I have been in on this house from the beginning and have voted on EVERY issue thus far! I have also been involved in the blog cabin in the recent past and other homes we have been lucky enough to put our input on and this one is the BEST BY FAR! Hats off to us ALL!

Posted by: Windy at June 2, 2008 6:11 PM

Well, . . . . . I've been gone for a while, but now I'm back, just in time to see the voting end! Where is everybody??

helen: I'll be in Maryville/Townsend the last week of July. If I can coordinate with my family and wortk it out, I hope to visit the "Cabin" and may be able to visit with you. I google earthed you and Lakefront Estates to see where you are in relation to the "House" and if I am right, you all have a nice place and must enjoy a good time on the lake! If we make it to the cabin, it should be about completed and the contest will be about to begin. Like you said, it will be great if a Blog Cabin Blogger should happen to win!! But like the Florida Lottery, chances to win are about 1 in 14,000,000. But there is a chance!! Somebody must win!! You all keep bloggin'. It's not over!! See you later. Have some brownies waitin'.

Misty: great to hear from you. Go Gators & Noles

Ahmed: I still think a random design driveway like the sketch would be more attractive, with direct access to front door would be a better design than what appears to be developing. Anxious to see what your final landscape design will be. I also still believe that what ever you finally decide, will be great!! Don't worry, I will share brownies with you, I promise!! TTFN

Ahmed,
We are really looking forward to seeing your work begin.
I have saskatoon berry plants growing at our place. Sort of like a Canadian mountain blueberry but do not require the oft times conditioning the of soil. No maintenance , edible and decorative.
I would also be happy to come out to create a painting or paintings for you if you can take care of the stay for me and my little family.

I know we are not voting anymore but I am wondering if that upper indoor section of the fireplace between the windows will be rock like the rest of the fireplace or logs? I just hope it is not sheetrock.

Thank You for your wonderful work!

Watson,

Question:

I am new to the process. This is my first season with Blog Cabin. Enjoying it emmensely and voting with a vengence. I was thinking that in voting I was registering myself for the sweepstakes. Am I wrong? How do I enter to win properly? Thank you for all of your efforts, it is a truly magnificent project.

Maria

Watson: Hello Maria, so glad you are a part of our Blog Cabin project. All votes registered are anonymous, much like any news website that asks topical questions. On August 14 of this year, however, you will have the chance to enter to win Blog Cabin 2008. You'll fill out a registration form which requires some personal information only in the event we need to contact you (we protect your privacy). Return each day to enter again, and this time you'll only need to enter your email address. The sweepstakes lasts appx. six weeks. Good luck!

I've popped in I believe everyday. It was fun getting to vote. This concept has been mentioned on sister site HGTV.

Now....I'm bummed after reading there will be full video coverage of the Blog Cabin on August 14th. Our area/network does not receive DIY. If it does, I'm not able to find it. So...any video clips of the Blog Cabin's reveal would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmmmmm....maybe I need to find a friend with special television connections. = )

A. Muse, great poem!

It's been a pleasure, everyone!

My wife and I are building a long home on some property we bought on Pickwick Lake in a couple of years and the disign you are building now is close to what we have in mind. My question is where is the layout for the basement for the garage. We also want a garage in the basement but I would like to see the design.

Carrie Miracle, It's nice to meet you! I'm new here. I think I got here a little late. It sounds like everyone is about to stop blogging. I too am fortunate enough to be both a stay at home mom and a Christian! It does get lonely sometimes. I guess that's one of the reasons I blog, to have grown up conversations!lol Being a good parent is the toughest job on the planet! Notice I said good not perfect because there is no such thing as a perfect parent! We just keep trying to do our best and teach our children what's most important in life! Hoping they listen and make the right decisions in life but being there to help redirect them if they don't. Anyway , that's my opinion. I hope you have a good day!

Posted by: Dana at June 3, 2008 11:57 AM

Carrie Miracle - You didn’t get carried away, and Oh boy do I understand the working the butt off and the home not quite getting what it needs ; ). We are also only one income and have chosen also for me to stay at home for the family and only recently decided to homeschool our youngest, whew! So there are a lot of hot dog nights, I’m sure you know what I mean ; )! And even though I’d love to win the lottery or a grand home from DIY or HGTV I’m content to understand what I have is what the Lord has blessed me with and James 2:5 says it best for me. Also, whatever great sites I don’t get to experience in this life the Lord will show me later. But it is such a nice light to know I’m not the only one out there going thru life like this. Tell Christen “congrats” and recoup before she worries about posting photos. I’m going to look at the link and see some of the action!
In fact I told my husband last night, “I need a round trip ticket to KY, so I can go see my Sister” and looks at me funny and say’s, “but she’s in Phx.”. So I had to explain how thanks to DIY I found my Sis who stays at home, loves home improvement shows and has a hubby who works his butt off too and loves her family and kids. He jokingly looks at me and says, “that’s it your unplugged”. Hee hee, ya right. He knows he wouldn’t want to deal with me without my “compooper”, as the kids use to call it.
And yes, I’d love to be your guest host!!! What fun that would be! DIY should just set up a Blog Cabin show that goes around to all the different, consistent, informative bloggers and you get to interview them. Can you imagine what fun it’d be to put faces to the names!!!

A.Muse such prowess again with your words, what a blessing you are!

BlognBob, yes aren’t small towns nice for that! Even though ours is continually growing, it still amazes me how this person knows that person, etc.

Misty & Rich, always encouraging and enjoyable words you share! I was going to say the same thing about book smarts. I believe life teaches you soooo much more! Yes, a blog community that is tent and motorhome friendly. We purposely live where we do (not the best neighborhood) so that we can park our trailer at home and have others do the same when they come to visit. All the new snooty subdivisions don’t allow that!

Clive, you are so right! We have won already, such great new friends and wealth of info! I had to laugh when I saw a new blogger, as like I did in the past, ask if you were the HGTV host! It made me realize how long we’ve actually been doing this to actually see new bloggers jump in with questions already asked and answered. Not that we mind new bloggers! Hey did you cook up any of those fish you caught? They all sound like nummy ones to me, nothing like a geoduck!! ; )

Sally, I’m sooo not good at fill in the blanks ;( , unless it has numbers ;)! How fun that you got to go see it!! Thanks for sharing the info. A queen size is better, it keeps you closer!

Hey Ahmed, I like the idea Heading South came up with. I know I could use some yard rescuing. As I agreed with Carrie, sometimes the money just can’t go to house stuff. We’ve been here 10 years and still no landscaping. Ahh, the life of a single income!

Keight, sorry just had to tease you ; )! That’s the shortest reply I think I’ve seen from you. Of course with total understanding of the working mother role! But as I’ve said before, just seeing your name, or should I say your posting, sometimes I don’t even have to see your name to know it’s you, brings a smile to my face….ahh more wealth of education and information!

Watson, got the “privacy” comment, but we still wish we could let Cabincraver2003 and Erika know we are thinking of them and offer help in some way.

Just wondering, does anyone do the bloggings/replies like me? Type it somewhere else than copy and paste! ; )

Helen, I can’t help but think about your brownies and my cookies ; )! If I win we’d have to set up a bake sale to benefit Cabincraver2008’s family and whoever else we could help out.

Sorry to any I haven’t named or commented to, but keep up the input!

Come on Aug. 14th!

Linda L. - Thanks for Hebrews 11:1...I love that one too...one way to paraphase it is this:
FAITH GIVES REALITY AND PROOF OF THINGS UNSEEN, TREATING THEM AS IF THEY WERE ALREADY OBJECTS OF SIGHT RATHER THAN HOPE!

Mary - Thanks for much for your invite to your website...Really nice! Your family are certainly beautiful people.....and so are you...Thanks!

Susan from Ohio - Oh my goodness! your website ....what a great testimony and outreach! Very encouraging!

A half hour ago I received word that a childhood friend went home to be with the Lord today. She was ready! PTL!

I probably should have this post on the previously blog, but I am feeling too lazy to go back there right now! :-) Oh well!

Posted by: Heading South at June 3, 2008 12:35 PM

It's been fun to be able to vote and then to see how the final tallys are going. It will be more exciting to see the final product. I'm really looking forward to seeing the completed cabin.

Posted by: Sue at June 3, 2008 12:48 PM

BlognBob - I don't know how to highlight this site but you may be able to type it in to go see the American flag video, it's really awesome, hope you enjoy it too:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iCz3BA-oNlY

Also, we cut off at least 28 Salsa peppers yesterday, just waitin on the tomatoes to ripen, lost a few due to heavy winds. Salsa in a jar can't compare to fresh salsa, just like fresh corn on the cob compared to frozen (big difference). I can't believe there are people who never picked their corn, put it in a pot or grilled it then ate it right away, they don't know what they're missing. Yummy!

Carrie: you are such a wonderful person, you have such a good heart and you'll go very far in life. You're a great Wife & Mom and a true believer with your whole future in front of you and with your zest for life there's nothing you can't do. Maybe you'll either win this BBLH or one day you'll build one just like it, I'm sure Barna would be willing to work with you, your home could be a sample for them, you'd be a great dealer. Many log home owners become dealers, you'd be great at it. By the way - you hyper - I never would have known, ha, ha. Your just SE&CHI! You are a breathe of fresh air, keep bloging!

A.Muse - thanks for repeating your poem, I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to print out but I'll frame it when I do, thanks again.

Ahmed, Watson, Barna & Everyone involved in this BBLH - WOW - you've outdone yourself with this one. It's truly one Big Beautiful Log Home no matter what it's called or what color the walls are painted - it is unbelievable. Someone will truly be super lucky to win it (hopefully a blogger). I hope you'll consider keeping all of the log homes in TN and hold annual barbecues each year open to the winners and all the bloggers. Please, next year, don't be busy filming when there's an Open House, some people drove for hours to get there and never expected to be denied access due to filming even though a few did manage to get inside. Maybe you did this on purpose to hide some things from us, did you? I'm sure there will be many surprizes in August when it's aired on TV, can't wait to see it and enter the contest every day. Ahmed, we all are wondering what your landscaping will look like, we're sure you'll do a great job, best of luck to ya. Thanks to y'all!

Jimmy - let me know ALL about your trip to the BBLH, can't wait to hear, have a safe trip.

Everyone - remember, this site will stay open for blogging and Susan opened a site for us too, already many are going away thinking it's over but it's not, keep blogging & chatting, it's good for us to keep this family of such good hearted people together.

Bloggers - vote, vote, vote as soon as it opens on August 14th - we want a blogger to win, win, win!! A blogger winning would truly make this a home for themselves and their buddies to visit, it would be perfect for DIY too, a true blogger home!

Good Luck & Great Health To ALL !!

Hi LindaL (June 2)...

Now aren't you sweet! I have enjoyed supplying the info. as questions about Lakefront Estates and cabin amenities or building supplies came up in the posts. And it has been a great learning process for me, too. Doing the research and then, learning so much from the other contributors to this Blog. So many have added so much to the content of the Blog through their posts.

And, now, I'll let you in on a little secret.... Clive let his guard down awhile back and admitted he was not 'that' TV personality when someone else asked him that very question a few post areas back. Yep, I know, he said he doesn't admit to anything, but he did, just that one time!--- Hmmm....Maybe too much red drink or something,....I don't know....but he did for whatever reason-(Smile!) But, I am glad he did!

Seems to me, it is quite grand to know that, while not 'that Clive'. his posts speak of a man who is utterly charming and a fun dad and husband (sunburned knee and all!). And... not that I want 'that Clive' to get the boot or anything, but ..... DIY now knows where to find a good replacement for the current TV Clive if needed.

PLUS.....our Clive already has a 'following of admirers' which should please old and potential sponsors --- why the Blog Cabin 2009 may be a real eco friendly build with our Clive as one of the DIY co-coordinators!

So.....Who knows, LindaL .... Maybe we will all get to see 'our Clive' in person some day soon. Then add BlognBob, and A. Muse, and Helen and Carrie and Sally, Heading South and Misty and Rich, Erin and Noel, and me (blush) and a handful more of the Elders making guest appearances, and the show would be quite an adventure!

Of course, Watson and Ahmed would need to round out the crew again .... wouldn't be as much fun without them in the mix, now would it!

Wishing you a day filled with endless possibilities ... all realized when the day is done.

Posted by: Keight at June 3, 2008 1:00 PM

Hi Noel! Wanted to just say, that I was not the one who thought of the idea of having one of the bloggers picked for the Yard Crashers..I think it was Misty, Mary ...or someone else...at any rate, I was just restating that I also thought it was a good idea...glad you mentioned it again...perhaps Ahmed will give that some consideration! :-)

Clive, would you be so kind as to let me know what type of bait you used for your fish? You are amazing...as soon as I told my husband, he said, "WOW!!ask Clive what type of bait he used". If you share your secret, we may have a nice fish dinner to enjoy and as we eat it, we'll say "Here's to Clive!" :-)

Misty, Tisser, and everyone else to enjoy. I think this one is pretty special ......

Hi Clive, BlognBob, and all who have kids home from school and are looking for some neat fun to share with them (.....and maybe even get one of those science projects for next semester knocked out and ready to go over summer vacation...Whoo Hoo!!!!)

Noah has been having a blast with the boys since the Big Box O’Fun Arrived from: Stevespanglerscience.com

He asked me to post a note and tell you to check out the website if you haven’t already found it on your own. Most of the time he just uses the instructions provided to help the boys amaze and mystify their friends. (Most are Super Easy to follow and kid friendly). Last week Noah ordered a couple of the all-in-one kits to try. Cannot decide who was more excited with his finds.... but the laughter and the WoWs and the Look at THAT Dad, makes me think the purchases were well worth it! (smile!)

There is absolutely something for everyone interested in the science behind the fun of science! Here is just a sample of featured projects on the website today.....
1. Mentos Geyser - Diet Coke Eruption
2. Make Your Own Bubbling Lava Lamp
3. Gardening with Water Jelly Crystals
4. Color Changing Milk
5. Cloud in a Bottle
6. Sharpie Pen Science
7. Awesome Dry Ice Experiments
8. Seven-Layer Density Column
9. Amazing Egg Experiments
10. Magic Sand

Noah also wanted you to know it is a great source for several sizes of ‘potato guns’, but, of course, be advised. --- they are not for the faint of heart or anyone with lousy aim! Definitely NOT for kids or some men for that matter --- no need for names, you know who you are, right? ----- unless, of course, everyone can be carefully supervised by the Designated Adult. (wink!)

You can send for a catalog or get science project updates sent to your email account. And, one of the best features of these experiments is that Steve Spangler explains the how/why/what for without having to buy all the stuff from him..... He does put together kits for purchase but the real draw of his website is his absolute love of sharing his love of science with everyone. Oh, and Noah said to tell you all that the kits (at least the couple he has ordered) are well made and worth the money, if you decide to go that route.

In our neighborhood, the word it out and Everyone is looking forward to creating lasting ‘snow’ on the Fourth of July.

Misty & Rich, if you hilight the entire poem and copy and paste it into a writing program (don't want to mention names and all) that will work. That's what I did. Then you can play with the font and all, and of course making sure to notate "Written by A.Muse"!!!

Oh Lord please let the winner be a blogger/voter that's been in this from the begining!!!

Now I actually have to go do some housework....funny - summer, kids home, house messier and noiser! Ahh thank You Lord for those blessings!!

Posted by: Noël B at June 3, 2008 3:25 PM

Hi Misty and Rich...

Do not know what programs you are running, but you might try opening your Word Program first to a Blank Document Page. Then Minimize it onto your toolbar tray. Next Open your Internet Connection and go to the DIY webpage and then go to the Cabin Blog area. When you find something you would like to copy, HIGHLIGHT THE AREA (left mouse keyclick) and then, right click your mouse so that the prompt COPY appears---click it and the Highlighted area should be placed on the clipboard.. Now minimize the BLOG page, re-open the blank word page, and, place the blinking cursur at the top of the page. NOW, from either the toolbar(EDIT) or by a right click on your mouse, you should be able to choose PASTE. The Highlighted selected material from the Blog Page should then appear on your opened, previously blank WORD document page. You can then jazz it up to your heart's delight.... Add a page border (FORMAT), change the font or color or size of the text, or whatever your program allows. Then you can name it and save it in your Word documents' file.

I hope those instructions make sense. And, if you had already tried this method and you were looking for another idea that might work with your computer system, maybe someone with more computer skills can offer some assistance. ANYBODY? Please HELP Misty and Rich by giving other directions for copying material from one area to another! THANKS!

Hello, Everyone!

This was my first year voting and blogging. All of you have made it a wonderful experience. Even though I haven't written much, I have been reading your blogs and feel as though we're becoming very good friends.

Ahmeda and Watson - thank you for your patience and information about this beautiful home. Your expertise shows through every picture. It must be very fulfilling to know that whoever wins this home, you will be thanked, albeit silently, every time someone wakes up inside its beauty.

Like most people, I hope to win this masterpiece. But if I don't, I wish the new owner all the splendor and "Serenity" in life this home evokes.

My heartfelt thanks for including me in this process and into your blogs!

Hi all! I just got back from shopping-- the cupboards were bare with all of that company.

Jimmy- I hope we are able to hook up that week. I also have friends from CT coming to visit us that week also. I hope we aren't out doing the 'tourist' thing when you come. Drop by, and if I know in advance-- I'll have some brownies waiting.

Clive-- I got hysterical over the sunburned knees. Matt did the very same thing in Hilton Head last week. We tried to take a pic of his bright red knees, but, it didn't come out too good. I know you two are alike, and would have a lot in common, but that's ridiculous! LOL

Noel-- I had to laugh about your comment about a bake sale. Every few years, I have a bake sale to benefit The Lissencephaly Network. The Lissencephaly Network is very near and dear to my heart, as my Brandon had Lissencephaly. Actually, I'm on the angel team for the Lissencephaly Network. (f anyone is interested in finding out a bit more on Lissencephaly--just go to this site--
http://www.lissencephaly.org
If you look at the Get Together 2005 video, they have a pic of my Brandon in there. Of course, he's the most handsome one there. LOL

Heading South-- I was so sorry to hear of your friend's death. I know what you mean by it was time though. There gets to be a point where you would rather suffer without them, than to see them suffer one more moment. I know it was that way with my Brandon too. Every time Katie hears of someone dying, she tells me that Brandon has another angel to teach how to fly. So, my little guy is giving flying lessons to your friend. LOL

Look forward to registering to vote. Here's to hoping that NEXT Blog Cabin (should there be one) there will be one single story cabin...and three multi story cabins to choose from. ;~)

Y'all are nice people...builders and bloggers alike. You're right. It is a little sad. TN is so far from AZ! In reality, I'll probably never get to see this cabin in person...I'll probably never get to meet any of you, but I want you each to know that you are appreciated and I've enjoyed our conversations. Some made me happy, some made me sad...like friend to friend conversations. I love this cabin- as we all do. What a glorious place this is!!!

Ahmed or Watson,
I was just wondering what the average number of voters were each day for the various items. Did it grow as time went on? Certainly the blogging did. Thanks.

Watson: Hello Nancy, I would say that on the whole, voting tailed off as the voting period wore on, although you are correct, blogging held steady throughout. Thanks everyone!

Posted by: Nancy at June 4, 2008 8:16 AM

Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate in Blog Cabin!

I've always enjoyed watching homes be built. Especially when I was young and could go through and smell the wood.

I STILL have problems calling a beautiful home like this a CABIN! HA!

Time to set back and go through all the videos again and pretend I can smell the wood!

Posted by: DebiDee at June 4, 2008 9:28 AM

Heading South: although I love Hebrews 11:1 and knew it when you said it in a blog I am clinging to Jeremiah 29: 11-12. I hope that plan includes a log home for one of the special bloggers.
Your discourse has been a delight to my heart.
Keight: I must have missed a blog or two. Thought I had caught up with them all after returning from Texas. You know, I keep telling people I am sooo sweet I have to stay out of the rain. ;-) Then they tell me that lying will get me to a very, very warm place. LLL

Everyone,[especially the "elders" of the group]

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are a great bunch of people! That includes Ahmed and Watson and the DYI crew. This has given me a chance to temporariy escape from my reality which hasn't been the greatest in the last few years. You've all given much more than you realize to others. Thanks for being so generous with yourselves and with your praise, information and kindness. You never know how much a kind word or even just acknowledgement might be needed. Sometimes a person just NEEDS something positive in thier life at that moment. I would name names but am afraid I might unintentionally forget someone and I don't want to hurt anyone, but you've all been mentioned in other posts. I feel I have been blessed to meet you all. Thank-You!

I have to agree with another poster, this is indeed the best, most beautiful log cabin home yet. I think this Blog Cabin is more beautiful than both the Dream Home and the Green Home this year. Many thanks to DYI, Barna Homes and the best, most talented building crew ever. A special thanks goes out to Ahmed and Watson for being kind enough to join us and be a part of our experience. Your both "good people" [one of the highest sentiments of praise in many areas]. All of you are giving something for people to dream about, something to hope for.

I may not be able to get online as much as I'd like, but will check in and see how you're all doing. May you be blessed in the ways you need, may life be kind and gentle to you and just in case, may you have the best of luck.

Lynne

P.S. Its raining, the robin is sitting at my window watching me, giving a peck at the window every so often. While he isn't insane {and driving me insane too} like he used to be, he's here every day, a few times a day. I've decided to take it as God's way of grabbing my attention, saying Hello and seeing how I'm doing.

Heading South....

sorry about your lose. I am Irish and we do mourn but then celebrate death as we feel they went to a better place with no suffering. I am glad you enjoyed my web page.

Noel b. I'm honored to be your sister in spirit, and if you ever get to KY or I get to where ever you are I would so love to meet you in person. I bet we could trade all kinds of advice and share a few thousand cute stories about our kids and have some hot diggity dogs over lunch or dinner, while the kids tear our houses apart(lol) like that's not daily. But we all could have the times of their lives. Nothing wrong with a few hot dog nights, they are one of my families faves anyway. I can make a mean dog, with fries n slaw on the side. Not to mention they are great rush meals for those crazy (hot diggity) days and always a kid pleaser. I sure know what you mean life gets crazy and so do we moms from time to time. And for crying out LOUD! They better not take my "pooter" away neither or they will be in big trouble. Cleaning and cooking for themselves. (HEE HEE!)

Misty I hope you forgive me but I can't figure out what SE&CHI means. I appreciate your love and kindness, you are a great woman yourself and I'm afraid I'm only 1/4 of the woman you seem to be.

I have appreciated and so admired each of you ladies, noel b. (my spiritual sis)

misty & rich, cabin craver (keep feeling better), keight, amuse, susan from ohio, heading south, lindaL.,
dana, (nice to meet you 2)
helen, sally, and linda from grayston and some of u guys too. Blognbob and Clive and the list can & should just go on & on. I have read all your blogs and there are some great people out there! With loving, compassionate, happy hearts. This blog has built more than a cabin in my eyes. It has been building friendships and kindness for each of us, in different ways & has built me up as a person, creatively and spirtitually and is helping me to get through a tough time right now (spirtually or emotionally, and physically) I'm not sure which exactly, more than likely in every way possible. ). But I know God is working on me, and my family, just like we have been working on this cabin. For me, being at home is my Godly duty as a mother n wife, it does get a bit boring at times and sometimes lonely (socially). I have more kid talk & tv time, than adult time for sure and I realize now that I have let my family down from time to time, (which I am sorry for) I guess I have been in a rut, didn't quite realize it, but it is a comfort and a blessing to know that there are other stay at home moms and some dads, out there that feel and love their kids and families as much as I do. I really enjoy you (this blog community),~ my new friends~ with or without a house to win. The house is a bonus for sure, but I treasure people and their gifts in personality more than things. Friends and sisters in Christ is just the biggest and best blessing (winning) in the whole wide world or web to me! Just keep praying for me and my family to get in & keep in God's will for us. I'm not sure where that will lead us, whether it be here or there, where or what in the future but I hope it's somewhere peaceful and fun loving, doing great things for others.

Come on diy take the challenge! We guys have info and we want the world to win with good advice and helping others, so the world can make better choices, We need advice from kind and loving neighbors on being better people and just maybe we all can learn a few more lessons along the way becoming a nation known more for emotional love not being stubborn or known for the love of money and things. I have given ideas and others have as well. I think the world is ready for more spiritual raising (emotinal knowledge) which can be woven together with house and yard raising although those things do add beauty and some calmness into hectic lives and schedules. Having a healthy heart and mind and getting help when it's really needed and appreciated would be the better option of giving from the heart and making a home happy for others. Giving people help and letting them help and learn at the same time. I want to learn more than I know as a person and I know there is people out there that need help that have some of the greatest advice the world has never heard and it could make a difference in someone's life no matter how big or small the lesson is. I would love to hear them personally and try to learn from others and teach others the lessons learned. You always hear people say granddad and aunt so and so taught me this and I thought you'd like to know. People: truly makes the differences out there. When you get right down to nothing, you realize there is nothing but the people you hold dear and that is all that matters. There is no better heritage or learning than first hand lessons about lifes little adventures and struggles.

heading south: I am saddened to hear of you loosing your friend, but I know it is comforting to know they are with our dear Lord.
I enjoyed the horse and rider video he had such a beautiful relationship with them. It was peaceful to watch: It totally took trust on both , the man and the horses to complete such a showing. It was so beautiful.

Katebythelake. it sounds like fun in your neighborhood this summer...
I've seen some of the mentos and diet coke explosions : ) Exciting and wild, make those kids wear protective eye gear! Soda in the eye burns!

Posted by: Carrie Miracle at June 4, 2008 12:41 PM

They cleared the front yard of the scrap materials, I bet landscaping is coming soon to a blog cabin ~ cam for you!

Posted by: Carrie MIracle at June 4, 2008 1:28 PM

Carrie!!!!!!

(See all the exclamation marks ... There are just some people I always think of with lots of exclamation points around them ... just want you to know that your gracious spirit comes across like that in every post you submit ~ you are at the top of the list of !!!!!! souls in this 'off-site building team family!)

And.... the other reason for this post .... I wanted to thank you for reminding me and everyone who thinks about sharing the science fun with their friends to WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES .... such an important part of keeping safe and avoiding unwanted trips to the ER!

... And to those of you who find Safety wear not always the most fashionable statement to be making ~ We have had some of the funniest moments looking back at pictures of us all wearing safety glasses (and even face masks and long rubber gloves!) and peering at some marvelous concoction erupting all over the driveway!

Yep...our neighborhood rocks whenever we get together to watch the sun set or the kiddos grabbing the last moments before the day ends.

Sooner or later Noah suggests or is asked to pull out the box of goggles, face masks, and Rubber Gloves and make something happen! He is the Mr. Science of the block and never fails at a chance to entertain --- he is always up to finding a way to add some good, silly memories to every gathering.

If we ever all do get to have a reunion, count on Noah to be among the group of merrymakers. Beware, her will be the one handing out the protective eyewear and looking for volunteers for an experiment or two!

Carrie - SE&CHI???? Does "So Excited & Can't Hide It" sound familiar? Your too much, you got it wrong, we should all try to be more like you, Helen & Matt & BlognBob. It's people like you guys that make us better people. Look in your mirror, don't look at your hair or eye color or whatever, just really look at yourself and you'll see how beautiful you truly are to all of us. You guys have the biggest hearts and so much love for your families and others, please, don't ever change, the world's a better place because of people like you guys and your children are our future and y'all are doing a great job, keep it up. BlognBob was watching the flag video I mentioned on an earlier post and he turned around to see his little girl with her hand over her heart, it's parents like y'all and some others that have posted about their families that make my day and the day of many other bloggers.

A.Muse & NoelB - thanks for the info, I'm still way behind in computers, you should have seen the surprised look on my face when my site about the flag came up highlighted, I was shocked. Your ideas were very helpful and I was finally able to print it out plus I put a border around it so it will look beautiful hanging over my mini cabin. Dang A.Muse you should autograph them and sell them,it's terrific with all the names & other wonderful things you wrote. When I learn to upload a pic I'll take one and send it to y'all.

Lynne - that was a beautiful post you wrote, enjoyed it very much, you are so sweet like so many on this site. A.Muse took the time to write all the names available at that time, I'm sorry I didn't mention you by name but I've enjoyed all your posts and laughed about your robin. I'm glad you realized he's there for a reason, I thought so all along.

Heading South - great video of Lorenzo and his horses, thanks. Did my "Smitty" story make you laugh? I hope so! Did you check out Jeff and his eagle Freedom? That was a wonderful story too, animals really are God's gift to us.

Helen, I saw so many cuties, which one was Brandon? Thank you for sharing that site with all of us.

To ALL the new bloggers and those that don't post very often, we enjoy everyone's comments, keep in touch, everyone is welcome here and we enjoy seeing what others have to say. The TV show & entering the contest starts on Aug. 14th, voting on the details has ended but the best is yet to come (the day a blogger wins the keys), only kidding, we're just hopping it's a blogger, we want a great neighbor for Helen and her wonderful Daughter, Katie and another neighbor, Sally too.

Barna Log Homes - I hope everyone visits your website, I've spent many hours on it and, hopefully one day, we'll live in one of your BBLH's. Please, all log home lovers, check out their site, there are lots of fun ideas there and you can set yourself up with all your favorites together, I didn't want to leave the site but I can go back and add to my favorites anytime.

Good Luck & Great Health To ALL !!

Hi everyone!

I've missed you all on the Blog. Been under the weather, but I've tried real hard to keep my voting up! Now that its over I miss the excitement, but am ecstatic over every winning choice!
THANK YOU ALL for building such an awesome home. Peace and tranquility... I've dream t so much about this home that I can actually feel the cool breeze off the lake on a warm summer night. I've heard the birds sing in the sunshine and I feel the love of the wholesome people of Tennessee. I won't be shy, this home would be our last stop in our long journey to get back to all the things that really matter in this life. I will enter everyday to win, and God willing, it will be us!

Posted by: Jo Ann Brainard at June 4, 2008 11:39 PM

Since I have not made too many notations to Chris and Simon, I would like to say I am proud of you guys for your incredible work and mastery in building such a beautiful log home. You guys are amazing. Thank You so very very much for all the effort you have put into this home. You guys are Great !

I still think that tree out front would look really nice with one of those octangular benches surrounding it.

Hey Watson, do you know if the french doors are all single opening ? I would hope at least the Master and Kitchen might have full opening doors. Also, the door at the top of the stair might need to swing inwards instead of out in front of the top of the stairs. I know the floor plans are subject to modifications so I hope this one might be a consideration. Yes, we still care about you guys and the goings on.

Misty&Rich, Thank You again for the American Flag video . That was really special for us as you know.

Thank You Katebythelake for the fun things for the kids to do. We will be checking that site out.

Yes, the area is cleared and it would be really neat to see some of the landscape begin.

Heading South, so sorry to learn of the loss of your friend. Our prayers are with you !

And Cabincraver and Erika where ever you are , our
prayers are with you . We miss you !

Clive, we are still here ! I'm glad you had a good time on your trip. Burned knees and all. I used to do long driving trips with shorts on and only my left knee would be burned by the time I got to my destination. Now that looked weird ! Between smoke alarms and fish guts we are having a grand ole time with the nicer weather. Hope you will be using that hammock too.

I was just looking at the cabin cam and had a thought about the ramp we have all been asking for.

Why not put a ramp from the porch by the dining room with a two way access to mimic the front steps. One ramp to the front of the house and one to the lake. Then a nice walkway from the driveway that will sweep across the front of the house (as in the drawing) would give access to the first floor for everyone and make carrying in the groceries easier, too.

Posted by: Nancy at June 5, 2008 7:14 AM

Well it looks like they are getting everything cleaned up out front, and may just start the landscaping pretty soon. I am looking forward to that.
Mary, Carrie and Helen, thank you for your kind words. Life is not forever here on earth, but only a short journey to conform us for what is to come.
Mary, I hope you are having a good day with all your gifts that you are getting ready for Christmas. That sounds like a complexed, well thought out process.
Misty, Thanks for the bears! :-) My friend just called me to come over and see the large bear print on her picture window....they had a bit of excitment last night....dog barking inside the house, bird feeder toppeled over and broken. LOL tis life! :-) gee...AMuse...I wonder, do you think it was papa bear, mama bear, or baby bear? JK LOL :-)
Happy Blogging Everyone!
PS...still no word from Cabincraver or Erika....but we are still praying.

Wow! This thing is really almost over, no more voting what will do but wait impatiently for August 14th. I watched the cabin cam this morning all the way to the beginning. DIY guys and gals you really out did yourselves. I just want to say I have enjoyed so much reading and learning about all of you bloggers and I have even tried to put faces with you all. Every morning I get up take my son to school then back home to feed the cows, then wash up and straight in to vote and see what's new with the blogger's. Well my son Drake has played his very last rec ball game and YAY they went undefeated what a way to end his last year now we got allstars starting June 27. My oldest daughter graduated May 31st with honors we are so proud of her. Our oldest son DJ graduated last year and is attending tech college in Criminal Justice. Ashley will be starting Anderson University she is going to be a math teacher. We have another daughter Brandy well she is just all girl and has a phone that has grown to her ear she is going into the 11th grade. Then that leaves the baby Drake he is so in love with baseball Chipper Jones is his hero and we have a boxer that he named Chipper 9 years ago, he also wrestles and plays football, and he wants to ride bulls. My husband Mark works very hard for us. He works for Michelin tire. He works hard on his pastures and he also coaches our son since he was three starting t-ball. Well as for me I'm a stay at home mom taking care of the house and children, and reading all about you all. This has been so much fun, and I will miss you all so take care and GOODLUCK to us all.

Has the stain been applies to the logs? They look the same. I am still wondering about the water stains to the interior logs in the slides. It does look like the exterior is mostly completed with fixtures to be installed, lights etc. Based on the materials I have seen in the skid the interior drywall should be done. I guess you are doing fixture installation, painting, flooring and the punch out type stuff.

I really would like to see more recent photos of the interior and lake side view.

Fellow bloggers, we can continue to blog, just no voting. Some of the blogs are like goodbyes. There is still a lot of work to be done and daily cam shots.

Hello Bloggers:

Another hot and humid day here in Texas. Still praying for rain, if I could stand I would do a rain dance.

At least my 2 rose bushes are getting buds. My tomato plant is doing well. We have caantalope plants coming up but we didn't plant them this year the plants we had died last year don't know where these came from. Only herb that I planted that didn't make it was my mint this made me sad.

Heading South......
making some of the items are not that hard I found an easy recipe for strawberry jam and pineapple jalapeno marmalade. If I am up to it I make olive oil infused with some of my herbs. My life partner makes most of the cookies not the rumballs and candy except for the peanut brittle and funky frito fruckies. The hardest part is making the labels for the jars and putting the laced decorations on them. As my MS has gotten worse I have cut back my mailing to just our families and a few close friends I have made on the internet.

Misty&Rich .....

Thanks for the email was nice to hear from you.

Have a great day and be safe all.

Misty that's too funny!!!!!! Haaa Haaa!!! I was too excited again and it "my brain" finally hid from me!!! LOL I couldn't figure SE&CHI out for the life of me..... Really, That is just way too funny!!!! You got me good! LOL

I just love all you guys! you all are such great people and have such great families and ideas.
Katebythelake: the googy times in life is always some of the best memories in my eyes too!

Blognbob and Misty if you guys want to see another good flag ceremony you should check out Sunday night coverage on the www.aceministries.com.
It shows the live footage from the "ISC Convention" my daughter just got back from. It gave me chills and I was so happy my daughter got to experience such an event personally.

Mitzi~ congrats with the great job you and Mark have done with your kids, Congrats to each of them!

I'm glad to know my 14 year old daughter "freshman" Christen, is really a normal teen! She has the same problem with the phone attached to her ear and fingers as well! I nearly died when she went $40 & 377 text over her texting this month. I made her pay for it from her allowances she saved up for the waterpark~freinds time. Told her to think about what she's doing this time, next time the phone goes away for a long time. I guess we should've went with the unlimited plan. Oh man! I really thought 400 was plenty plus talking. Guess not! Have to wait till Dec. before we can change plans though!
Well gotta go get some food going, already been out front playing in the kiddie pool in the drive way, with my 3 year old. It's time to get some housework done, and we have a friend of my daughter's coming this evening. So we'll be pretty busy rest of the evening.

Misty-
If you look at the get together video-- Brandon is about 1/2 way through. After they show all of the names- his is the 1st set of pictures they show that have the yellow daisy looking flowers as a background. He's the cutie-pie on the right at the bottom in the one piece outfit with aqua cuffs. He's got kind of a reddish tint to the fuzz on his head. Hmmm-- I wonder where he got that reddish hair from. LOL That picture is my all time favorite one of him taken of him when he was 6 months old.
BTW-- if anyone would like to make a tax deductible donation-- there is an address on the site to send it to. All of the money goes for stuff for the kids and their families. Nobody gets paid at The Lissencephaly Network. All of the parents and doctors that run it, are volunteer. If you do decide to send a donation, I'd be very honored if you would send it in memory of Brandon Miko.

Posted by: Helen Miko at June 5, 2008 3:00 PM

Helen,
Brandon is beautiful, he did take after his momma didn't he? with that red hair. I enjoyed the video of all the beautiful families.

Posted by: Carrie Miracle at June 5, 2008 4:58 PM

Hi Helen, I just went to the Lissencephaly Network to look for Brandon. I saw him! Oh my goodness he is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!! He is certainly a little angel. Thank you so much for sharing him with us...He was truly blessed to have a mom as wonderful as you, as you were blessed to have him as a son.

Mary, your goodies sound mighty yummy!!!! Tomorrow they say it will go up in the 90 degrees. That is too hot for me...I don't mean to complain, because I am happy for the warm weather, but that is too hot, so I plan to be indoors tomorrow. Mary, am I correct to say that heat is very hard on those with MS? I'm sure you have air conditioning. Stay cool, and I will pray for rain...or maybe I'll get up and do the rain dance for you! :-) LOL Wouldn't that be a sight to behold. Maybe I can ask Carrie to sing "I'm so excited and I just can't hide it"..Will you help me Carrie? JK LOl :-)...Aren't we a bunch! :-)

Hi,

My husband and I were in Rhea County looking for property this past weekend and I begged him to take be by the Blog Cabin. I knew the approximate location by the map and just by luck we found it. Someone was having an open house, I assume a builder, and we just drove in. It sure wasn't hard to find. It is more beautiful in person than on line.

Great job everyone. I love it.
Martie

Posted by: Martie at June 5, 2008 5:34 PM

Ahmed, I was looking at the pics of the cabin and would love to see some more pics of it consider.and I would love to see a american flag hanging over the porch rail it would make the home look beautiful THANKS!

Posted by: rock at June 5, 2008 6:08 PM

Wow gang, we voted for 43 things on the Blog Cabin!! If you have not done so yet, go back over the slide show of voting results….brings back memories ;) !!

Hey Simon and Chris, can you PLEASE make sure to sign the bookcase you are making? Something like wood burned in or a plaque placed on it somewhere, but actual signing not something preprinted, PLEASE! Same goes for you Ahmed with the fence, but a plaque might weather better.
Also, thank you Chris and Simon and all the other un-named workers on the crew, the inspectors, the painters, electricians, roofers, dry wallers, window installers and the list goes on, thank you for your hard and awesome work!!!

I’m so glad to see the windows did not end up with the cross-hair feature as was portrayed when we were voting.

Can’t wait to see the solar lights and exterior hardscape rock get put in, plus all the other outside elements to finish it all off.

Watson, Ahmed, someone, a couple of questions I hope that can be clarified. Do both bathrooms get the heated floor feature or just the master bath? Also, will the Twig chandelier go in the interior entry way or over the dinning area? Glad to see the cabinets are the style we voted, did we vote on the color? I like them, I just remember something lighter being voted on. Also, is that a granite tile for the backsplash? I like that much better than just one huge piece of granite plastered all along the wall like what was portrayed in the voting. That was half the reason I did not even vote on granite backsplash, I was afraid it would be one huge slab.

Helen, what a darling! I used that same pic. background for one of my girls’ pics one year. Thank you for sharing! My girls and I help out with a local soccer team that is for all of those special children of God. What smiles they get as they are led by the hand or pushed in their chair and make a goal and everyone cheers for them! It’s the best. I’ve always said those are the closest ones to God. I’ll have to inquire of some of the parents if they’ve heard of the Lissencephaly network or something similar in our general area.

Heading South, thanks for correcting me. I just hate saying or doing something wrong and not knowing. I’d rather be corrected than go about being wrong! So, to whoever came up with the Ahmed/Yard Chrasher idea, great idea! Also, thank you for sharing the video link. My girls have watched it at least 5 times, they just love horses!! It makes me hold my breath though, so I’ve stopped watching with them (hee hee, the proctective mother in me I guess). Thank goodness we don’t have any horse access for them to go try any of that.
Bear print on your friends window huh! We had them all around our tent one trip. Dang dogs were being pesky all night (thank goodness they were in the tent with us), and me 6 mos prego. It was when we heard the cooler (where yesterdays leftover catch was being stored) sloshing around 2a.m. that we put all the pieces together about the dogs fussing. Next morning there were prints all over our camp and I do mean ALL over, chairs, firepit rocks and coolers.

KatebytheLake, you are a life saver! Do you live on a culdesac or just in a really great neighborhood? I’m envious! Also, I’m continuing to do some homeschooling over the summer and lack in science, my fault. But that website is going to help me a lot. Thank you!!!!!! Tell Noah, thank you, for the testimony of the kits too. It always helps knowing someone that has used them and getting their OK on it. Oh yea, potato guns…..loves those when we go camping ;) !!

Lynne, is it a second story window you sit at? I can’t help but wonder maybe the robin is seeing it’s reflection and wrongly thinking it’s another bird moving in on it’s turf ;) !! Have a look outside and see if you see any reflections. My Mom’s windows do that, if you are outside, you can’t see in, that is why I ask.

Misty, thanks for clearing up SE&CHI for Carrie and me. I was wondering if we were talking about tea again (hee hee). I’m so proud you were diligent with the poem and got it done.

A.Muse, when I was reading your response to Misty about the poem and I came to “mouse”, I couldn’t help but smile as I thought of the raccoon!!

Carrie, that is the best punishment idea yet (hee hee). But you know us Mom’s would get sick of the clutter and mess before they did and end up doing it anyway, such is our blessed lot in life ; ) .

Mitzi, hold your head proud as you and yours are also members of the dying American breed of family! May God continue to bless you and yours!

Well, hubby will be home soon, gotta go pretend like I’ve been doing something domestic for the past ½ hour.

Blessings to you all for being part of my day!

Hi Trent (June 5)

Docks are permitted....They must meet the requirements of the TVA as well as follow the guidelines set up by LakeFront Estates, which allows only three variations. If you are interested in what they are, post again and I will give you the info. Also, the development has a pier for homeowners with slips available. Don't remember the exact number, but you might take a look at the website for Lakefront Estates and see if the number is listed there. There is a link on the DIY homepage.

Posted by: Keight at June 5, 2008 8:35 PM

Heading South ..... Hmmm. Mama, Papa or Baby Bear? Since the birdfeeder was broken, I'm thinking maybe Goldilocks was somewhere around, too! (wink) You need to check with your friend since the bear paw print was on the picture window ...... makes me wonder if the TV was turned on to a re-run of Yogi Bear in Jellystone Park and the bears thought they were watching the family's home movies! So glad the doors were locked or they may have come right in and made themselves some honey coated popcorn, rather than just raiding the birdfeeder!

To anyone copying the poem: Please feel free to include any names in the list that I may have inadvertently left out. And to anyone who did not find your name within the Elders group, please accept my sincere apology .... I did gather the names from a recent post but I realize now I should have gone back even farther.

Melanie See: Glad to see your post AND sorry for not including your name in the Elder's listing (see above). I have enjoyed your posts in the past and have no other excuse for the slip up other than what I listed above. If you do make a copy, please add your name as it most certainly belongs on the list of those who make this experience so worthwhile. Thanks!

Helen Miko: . I hope it was OK to say you would bake the build team some more of your awesome brownies, if they would construct that Ramp everybody has been wishing for at the Cabin. I could not think of a better enticement than those brownies of yours to get the crew motivated to explore the possibilities of building an access ramp somewhere so that everyone will be able to enter the cabin! Judging by the comments of Ahmed and Carrie and the wishful longings of BlognBob and Jimmy ~ and the list could go on like that for pages ~ you might even want to consider a mail order business: You could call them "Helen’s Heavenly Brownies"! I thought about: Helen's Sinfully Rich Morsels" but something heavenly sounds more like you! And, believe me, the promise of "Helen's Heavenly Brownies" showing up in mailboxes all over the country may be just what we all will need to get through the bc OCD withdrawal symptoms once the 2008 Blog winds down and before the 2009 Blog Cabin site is up and running! Yep, a nice mug of Chamomile Tea and one of your big scrumptious brownies ----Mmmmm .... I would definitely be into ordering some! (smile)

WATSON: Why don't the vlogs work??? All I get is a message apologizing for it taking sooooooooo long to load and suggesting I try a different selection....that never works either!

Watson: Hey Becky, the videos should be okay now. Also, new slide show coming next week. Warm Regards.

Please update the slide show!!!

I see that the front yard is being cleared off, but there is still a lot of material on the left side of the house. What's happening up thar?
(It's up thar as I'm down heah in Alabama) LOL

I know you're reallly busy, but with all the camera guys & gals around filming the cabin surely one can take a number of slides? Please, I'd say it with brownies but I don't think they would survive the mail. LOL

With only the camera cam to focus on...I'm thinking it's my eyes getting fuzzy & not the cam.

Geee, August is such a loonnng way off!

Good day all,

I hadn't looked at the site photos for a few days and am so happy to see an almost clean worksite. Ahmed, could you please ID the trees growing down by the lake and also, let us know what you add to the landscape and what the plant's needs are, i.e., sun, water, fertilizer, etc.? I live in a similar climate situation and could use some new ideas as to indigenous plants I could use.

I am afraid we are in for another hot,dry summer here in the southeast - my "lawn" is already dry and brown, yet those pesky weeds still keep popping up. What's up with that?

FYI, for the winner of "Serenity Shores"...Clemson University in nearby SC has a great extension service and is very responsive to gardening and landscape questions.

Stay cool while you landscape and garden, DIY!

Heading South.....

Yes the heat is very hard on people with MS and I do have AC, but have to spend more time indoors whan it's hot. OH my I can picture you dancing for rain to one of my favorite songs "I'm so excited", Keep it up they are predicting rain 20% chance thats not much, but anything will help. My dock will be on land soon, was hoping it would be in the water for July 4th everyone here shoots off fireworks from their dock it's so much fun.

Amuse.....

Carrie Miracle, I have 3 chidren 7,14,&18. It is normal for the phone to be attached to their ear. My 18 year old left home because he says I'm to strict. Before he left home he complained about not having a cell phone and a car. I had to remind him that he also didn't have a job! That wasn't the only reason he left though. He also didn't want anything to do with the scriptures. Being a prarent is hard. Trying to be a Christian parent is even harder, espesially when they don't want anything to do with the scriptures. That's when tough love comes into play!-(Luke14:26) My 14 year old son complains about not having a cell phone too but we do have a land line and I do allow him to use my cell phone to call people he knows that are mobile to mobile.I'm not into keeping up with the Jones! I feel we survived without cell phones and texting so can they! Besides did you hear about people having problems with their thumbs because of texting so much! The way I see it , I'm saving him from added problems! I think you did good making your daughter pay for the additional minutes she went over with her own money! We have to teach them to be responsible. This is my opinion anyway. Thanks for listening! I hope everyone has a good day!

To ALL bloggers & DIY - I think it would be wonderful if each and everyone of us sent a donation (whatever you can spare, $1 $5, $10, it doesn't matter if it's from your heart)to the Lissencephaly Network in Brandon Miko's memory as a big thank you to Helen for all her time and energy she has given all of us answering everyone's questions & comments on the BBLH and for all the brownies she took to Ahmed and the crew. She's been a wonderful friend to all of us and will be a great neighbor to the lucky winner. The address to see Brandon in the video is on Helen's blog on June 3rd 6:41 PM (just scroll up)and to know which child is Brandon check out Helen's blog on June 5th 3:00 PM, he's a real cutie. The address to send a donation is on the site. Thanks everyone, we know you'll do your best.

Helen - Brandon sure is a cutie pie, thank you for sharing him with all of us. A.Muse's idea of selling "Helen's Heavenly Brownies" is a wonderful idea, if you do please sign me up! My mouth has been watering for months, yum, yum.

Carrie - I'm still laughing at the SE-CHI, after all your blogs, I'm still laughing. You are too funny, even Noel B had fun with it. What a fun, crazy family we all are.

Watson - wahoo, can't wait for the new slide show next week! You guys are having way too much fun teasing us, show a little then make us wait....show some more then make us wait again, on & on. I have this sneaky feeling you guys are down in the Man Cave laughing at us and having too much fun while eating those brownies. By the way, I chose not to look at your video, I like the mystery of not knowing who our famous Mr. Watson is, but, who knows, my curiosity may get the best of me one of these days. Please mention to DIY that we're hoping to see Helen in the show when it airs and maybe you could invite A.Muse to show up and give a framed signed poem, BlognBob could paint something to put his touch on this BBLH, Clive could be on as an off-site adviser, now that would be great reality TV and make all us bloggers happy.

Mary - great your roses are budding, we planted a rose garden back on Mother's Day for my Mom (she loves roses but is legally blind so we thought if she couldn't see them she could smell them) and they're doing real good too. We started with 10 but have been adding on and now we're going to plant another one in memory of Heading South's friend. We started with bare roots so they take longer to get going but once they do we'll send a pic to everyone we email to.

BlognBob - we'll be glad to send you some salsa peppers & tomatoes (when they ripen) so you can have fresh salsa, we're already overloaded on the peppers, just email us in a few weeks when the tomatoes should be ready for picking.

Good Luck & Great Health To All !!

You are all such caring, giving wonderful people so I hope Scripps will let me post a link. If this makes it to the blog, please add it to your favorites and share it with as many people as possible. I don't have the money to give the way I'd like to give to as many organizations that need it, so this is an easy way to give. It takes less than a minute.

It is my sincere hope that more organizations get added to the list of recipients.

Dana, thank you for your kind thoughts, Isaiah 33:24 will come to pass; that is the glorious future for the body of Christ....I also forgot to thank Blognbob for his kind words. Misty, that is so sweet to plant a rose in her memory...thank you...
Mary I am glad to hear that you are nice and cool, our station said we had 97 degrees today, but at my kitchen window outside in the sun it was reading 110 degrees.. Tank top and short, water, and by all means; staying inside today!

Watson, Looking forward to the new slide presentation coming up soon...Can you put a slide shot of the master bedroom? Thanks.... :-)

Alright guys, making fun of Carrie. (LOL) I don't blame you, I'm still a laughing at me too! I can't believe I couldn't figure that one out! So Here it goes guys.....you might want to stick your fingers in your ears, and pretend I'm singing for you....
I'm SE&CHI >>>@@@@@ rain dancing......for Mary, etc.
Is it raining yet? >&** CH>>
anyway guys, I never have been a good singer or a dancer, so how about a short prayer.....
Dear Lord: Please, let it rain for those who need it! Amen
>>>>... here's the chorus: I'm so excited and ICHI Lynn clapping and her amazing robins a pecking the rhythm on the window. So here join in guys... We all are singing I'm SE&CHI! joining in on harmonies, heading south, Misty and Rich and Mary.. and who else is so excited. A.muse and Helen and maybe ???
Yes those 90's are hitting us big time and it's so hot here in Ky too! The 2 temporary window a.c. are barely helping here! It's humid!

Jo Ann Brainard: welcome back, glad you are feeling better!

Dana thanks for the encouragement, I think the kids really could do without the cells too! We did! There were so less problems and aggravations before the cells. But then they are lifesavers at times too! It's just easier to keep up with them with the cell than calling and keeping a list of numbers of all their friends for me.
However she keeps up those extra charges, that phone is gone! And I will be giving her finger therapy: called cleaning what I didn't get to today! And she won't be having any free time to use it any more!
And I will pray for your son, You taught him the way and maybe he will come back to you and God when he has a little bit of the "I'm an adult now, syndrome" out of his system. He'll need you more than he thinks one day real soon! When he gets hungry or too tired being independent for the first time.
That verse: train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he(she) will not depart from it.Proverbs 22:6
Is one of my favorite parenting tips from the Bible. It reminds me that it is my job to teach my children right from wrong. ( it sounds like you did your best). Just keep praying for him and loving him! But I also try to remember that no matter what we teach our kids: they will always have a mind of their own. God did give us all "choice". Sometimes it works for us and sometimes it's a curse! Remember adam and eve? And some of us people just have to learn some hard lessons from life experience before we think about what we were taught, told or warned about. I hope things go better for you both. It breaks my heart for you.

A friend just wrote and stated it was 42* in Colorado Springs and thet're headed for Montana and a new granddaughter. It's 95* here in Gainesville and low to mid 90's predicted for the next week; sure would like to be in Watts Bar area!! another 8 weeks +/- before we head that way! Can hardly wait!! It should still be warm when we get there, but evenings on the mountain will really be nice(cool). I imagine that a lake breeze at night should be really nice, also. HELEN: Is there a predominant direction for the wind on the lake at the Blog Cabin?? Is there normally a breeze off the lake toward the cabin or what?? Sitting on the deck with a breeze off the lake will really be nice!! My Blog Cabin addiction has become my treat for the day. I can't pass my computer without checking to see if the Blog has been updated with a new comment. I began reading the Chat. My wife thinks I spend too much time sitting here looking at this monitor. So until next time, better go. I have projects to work on and the boss thinks they are more important!! I have begun telling her they are not as important as my new found friends; but duty calls, so see you all later!!

Ahmed!

Will you please give me some guidelines when it comes to trimming or not trimming the root ball when planting flowers, trees, shrubs?

I just finished watching your Yard Crashers episode in which you re-did a front landscape beds and also the owners' 'leaf beds'( with partially buried round planters and two semi-circle plant bed areas).

When you were getting ready to place one of the plants in the front landscape, you mentioned that trimming or loosening up the root ball was NOT a good idea on that plant.

So... is there a rule of (green) thumb to apply when deciding which root balls need a trim and which are better off left tight? THANKS!

OHHHHH! WATSON........

Thank YOU so much. I'm l@@king forward to that new slide show! :-)

Helen - would you be willing to share that teriffic brownie recipe? Seems that there are a lot of brownie lovers in this blog cabin's family, both those who are working so hard & those glued to the cabin cam. LOL

Misty & Rich - roses...mmmmm love the scent, so beautiful in bloom....I hope Ahmed puts them on the cabin's fence. I've heard that the old varieties are hardier and more often scented than the newer hybrids...is that true? When I go wandering at Lowe's and stop to smell the roses all to often a real beauty will have no scent. So sad...

Keight - did I read in a earlier blog that any docks or piers had to be under roof??

Ahmed - I know I'll see something happing with the landscaping soon, let us know what's going in..please.

Keeping tuned in to the CABIN CAM!

Misty & all,
You have me in tears over here. That is such a sweet thought. It really is a great charity, and it's one most people have never heard of, as Lissencephaly is such a rare birth defect of the brain. The more money they get, the more money they will have to buy more medical equipment to loan out, free of charge to the families for as long as they need it, and hopefully, next year, we will be able to have the Lissencephaly Network get together that we weren't able to have last year, as there weren't enough funds for it. The get togethers aren't only great to meet other families that are going through what you are/have gone through-- but, they also have talks that the doctors who are the authorities in Lissencephaly from all over the world come to to tell us the lastest findings on Lissencephaly. And, we also have seminars dedicated to those of us that have kids that are angels now. How to deal with the grief of losing your child, and also just sessions when we can talk about our favorite subjects-- our kids.

Hi all! I've had another busy weekend. We spent the day Friday with friends at their house in the pool. 1st thing Saturday morning, I was with Katie at the park in Spring City for the annual Spring City Fishing Rodeo. They have all of the kids 12 and under fishing for the 1st fish, the biggest, the 1st white catfish, etc... Katie caught a fish only about 3" long-- I told her if there was a prize for smallest fish-- she would've won hands down. It is sponsored by a lot of the merchants around here-- free hot dogs, drinks, ice cream-- and they give away savings bonds, free tickets to Dollywood, free bikes, etc... The grand prize this year was a 10' flat bottomed boat. My friend Mona's grandson Christian won the boat. They took Katie's picture fishing and told us it's supposed to be in Wednesday's Herald newspaper.
While all of this was going on, Matt was back home with friends taking out our slider door, and putting in the french doors we bought with the refund check we got from the gov't. They also had to move a floor to ceiling window over to fit in the door, as we bought a door with side vents that open so it was wider than the slider. Of course, it would have to be the hottest day of the year they had to do this. But, Matt only has one weekend off a month, and this was it!
To top that off, Katie wakes up crying at 2:30 this morning with 'Swimmer's Ear' infection. I keep telling her they are ears on the side of her head, not gills. But, she is definitely a little fish when it comes to swimming. So, it was off to Walmart this morning to get her the prescription ear drops and tylenol. Right now, we are dusting every nook and cranny of the house as the dust from taking down the sheetrock is everywhere!!!

It's been fun voting, and I know the giveaway is in a couple of months - Someone please tell me: How do you enter to win? Thanks!

Posted by: Charlene at June 8, 2008 11:22 PM

Helen: My ear doctor had me mix white vinegar with rubbing alcohol (50/50). Put drops in ears after swimming and showering. Drys out the ear and kills bacteria. When I remember I have fewer ear aches.

Charlene: As soon as voting opens you will see how to enter. Almost two more months to wait.

AMY MATTHEWS OF DIY IS CUTE AND MAKES A GOOD MODEL
SHE IS ALSO SMART ENOUGH TO PASS A TEST AND GET
A CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE . BUT SHE IS DAMN SURELY
NO CARPENTER. THE PICTURE OF HER STANDING THERE
HOLDING A HAMMER WITH A 24 OUNCE HEAD AND A 24 INCH HANDLE IS LAUGHABLE, AND RIDICULOUS. ADD TO
THAT THE FACT THAT SHE IS WEARING GLOVES, AND IT
IS EVEN WORSE. CAN YOU SEE A CARPENTER SHOWING UP AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE LOOKING LIKE THAT ? HE OR
SHE WOULD BE LAUGHED OFF THE JOB. ( I HAVE SEEN
IT HAPPEN )EVEN A VERY STRONG MAN WOULD BE WORN
OUT AFTER SWINGING THAT THING ALL DAY. GET REAL.

Susan from OH: (Go Reds! MY favorite baseball team!)win or loose!
I'm so glad that sense of humor tops the list at #1. I don't know how us moms would ever make it through a single day without a sense of humor, if we didn't learn to laugh first at a tough situation. We would absolutely go nuts! (not that I'm not already 1/2 way there)
I know if I didn't laugh so much I'd never get through one day! Between my toddler & my teenager. You just never know which one is gonna be moodier and throw a fit.... them or me!~ LoL~
You forgot to add to the list:
Hubby's sidekick through thick and thin in life and home remodeling. We wired and chased a bad ground in the living room (wiring) started on the light switches last weekend. We finally found it, We still lack replacing some the electric plugs, behind big furniture. ( the wiring in our house was/is a nightmare! It seriously looked like whoever had done the wiring used scrap wires to do it! N/K! ) We just fished new wiring through most of the easier ones to get to and add wire nuts to others! And we also had to replace that crazy carpor
