Feast on This

combo_edited-1.jpg

When we heard Nigella Lawson was coming from England to promote her new series, Nigella Feasts, we were thrilled. This was really our first chance to work with her.

We treat press demos like mini-shows, preparing all of the mis en place as well as beauties of each dish, so that the chefs can showcase many dishes in just a few minutes of airtime. I scoured Nigella’s books and shows to familiarize myself with her style, and then I set to work. Talk about a feast: I made involtini, Tunisian-style meatballs with couscous and vegetable stew, pumpkin and apple crumbles and pumpkin cheesecake, which were perfect for the fall weather just setting in.

Working with Nigella was lovely, and she definitely lived up to her reputation as a domestic goddess. As for her food? It was luscious enough to dive into as soon as the camera finished rolling. My favorite was the pumpkin and apple crumble, topped with large-grained raw cane sugar called Demerara, to give it a sweet crunch.

*You can find recipes from Nigella Feasts on our web site. If you can’t find Demerara sugar, substitute Turbinado or any large-grained raw cane sugar.

Last week (I believe) you had a cranberry dessert on your web site. It was on the front page of the food network web page. It was made in individual dishes and was made with half & half and heavy cream. Can you send me this recipe? Thank you so much.

I have truly enjoyed watching Nigella Feasts on FN. I think that she is a fine addition. Also, her recipes and style are so different from the other chefs. She is truly great and I can't wait to try the Chicken and Sausage from the first episode. Thanks!
