Hi Superfans! Oh...I wonder who it is? You know, the designer who will just leave us saying, "Oh yes. (S)He's good. I am blown away! No WONDER I love this show!!"
Will Josh still have his "Sparkle?"
Will Robb be able to pull off something beautiful? (remember his portfolio? really impressive!)
Will Christina and Kim be the ones to "WOW" us this time? (now that they don't have to worry about dealing with all of the strong personalities and they can just concentrate on their passion!)
Will Scott show us what a PRO he really is?
Will Adriana or Todd be able to use their wonderful carpentry skills to set themselves apart?
What about Will? Do you think he will be able to hit another homerun...all by himself?
Yea! I have a feeling we are in for a GREAT show!
I think we are going to see about EIGHT reasons why these particular designers were picked for this competition! :o) What do you think?
Be the first to comment! Enter your comment in the form below.
My room-mate and I think that Kim was the best choice. We think another show with Will and Sparkle together would be a blast!

Will was the best designer.

I STUMBLE UNTO THE SHOW ONE NIGHT AND FELL FOR IT BECAUSE OF THE RAW CHANCE THAT A NORMAL PERSON IN THE FEILD OF DESIGN,PROFESSIONALLY OR ENTHUSIAST,TO SHOWCASE THAT TALENT TO THE WORLD AND WE WILL JUST LOVE YOU FOR IT.
FROM THE BEGINNING YOU SEE THAT ALL THE CONTESTANTS HAVE A PASSION FOR THIS THING AND IT WAS INFECTIOUS TO WATCH THEM DO THEIR THING WEEK AFTER WEEK AND NOW THAT THE SHOW IS COMING TO AN END I'LL MISS COMING HERE AND NOT SEEING THEM.BUT? WAS THE FIRST SEASON LIKE THIS? CAUSE THE GUY WHO WON THE PREVIOUS SEASON,HE'S GOOD.
SO WE ARE DOWN TO THE LAST TWO,AND I'LL GIVE EACH OF THEM A PIECE OF MY MIND.LADIES FIRST;KIM I JUST ADORE THIS WOMAN.HER ENTHUSIASM FOR THIS THING,DESIGN, JUST MANIFEST IT'S SELF PHYSICLY THROUGH HER-LIKE A KID IN A CANDY STORE. IN FACT ALL THE CONTESTANTS SHOWED THIS QUALITY ESPECIALLY KIM,TODD AND WILL- IN MY OPINION.ALOT WAS SAID THAT SHE HAS NO EXPERIANCE IN DESIGN PROFESSIONALLY,BUT YOU CAN,LITERALLY,SEE THAT KIM MIND ACTS LIKE A SPONGE WHEN IT COMES TO DESIGN WHICH MEANS THAT SHE CAN RETAIN AND RECALL WHAT SHE HAVE SEEN,DONE AND EXPERIENCED IN DESIGN.
MEH BOI TODD.THIS GUY REMINDS ME OF THAT FRIEND YOU GREW UP WITH WHO WAS THE SAME WAY THEN AND WHO IS THE SAME WAY NOW- FUN.HIS DESIGNS ARE FUNCTIONAL-CREATIVITY,YOU CAN LIVE WITH IT AND ENJOY IT.THERE WILL BE ELEMENTS IN THE SPACE THAT WILL COMFORT YOU AND KEEP YOU THERE AND THAT TO ME IS REFRESHING.
SO HGTV YOU HAVE LEFT ME WITH A DIFFICULT CHOICE HERE, I DO LIKE THESE TWO DESIGNERS. I WOULD WATCH EITHER OF THEM ON TV.SO I HAVE TO CHOICE ONE AND I'LL CHOICE ONE.
KIM AND TODD I HAVE LEARN THIS EARLIER IN LIFE,SO THANKS FOR CONFRMING THIS TO ME ONE MORE TIME,THAT THE ONE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING YOU CAN DO IN THIS WORLD IS DOING SOMETHING THAT ALLOWS YOU TO BE YOU SO THE BOTH OF YOU ARE DESIGNSTARS.

I LOVE WILL!!! I love his designs! I love his personality! I love his spirit! I hope that another channel picks him up because I could watch him every day. If someone would pay for him to get a little training on how to talk to a camera, he would do extremely well. Will has such a great attitude, he's so personable, has a big heart, and he's sooooo talented....you watch....before long, he's going to realize his dream of being able to fly. I can't wait for his new show so I can watch him soar!

I enjoy this show and many of the same station.
I still think Will was the best designer. he just could not articulate the way they felt he should. He is a southern guy but is funny. Look at his suggestion on the latest episode reference to the cement floor. Well, that will not be. I will vote for the lady. She has a mixed style. He is too California beachy. Too much blue.
Good luck to both. Me

I think the voting procedure SUCKS. What are you supposed to do if you don't have a cell-phone????
It's unbalanced and unfair - Equal only has one
definition - and this procedure unbalances the
voting chances, so no matter who wins, it will be
tainted.

I think Todd is the best and I am glad to have Robb gone.
I was wishing all along that Todd sould WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sparkle Josh was bad but Robb was worse.

will shudnt have been elimnated this past sunday. All his designs are very nice, free flowing and hes talented. He shud have been the one to stay. on the other hand kim's idea for the remoldling room this past sunday was only to be expressed in one word, HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! the colors were very impractical and ugly and for goodness sakes she has no talent in home designing! the past few weeks here ideas and designs have been far below stellar and she shud have been kicked off many weeeks ago. will deserves to be in the final two.He is trully talented and the only reason why he got elimenated is simply and honestly because of the color of his skin.

All I want to say is that if Rob was to win this competion I would NEVER watch his show - what an ars!
Also - why so many repeats??? I do like other HGTV shows ya know...

Do anyone else think Josh's nickname was his downfall. The judges kept telling him to sparkle and he took them literaly. I thought Will's presentation of the Newton's was fine. Much better than the others in fact. He seemed more relaxed than the rest which was almost David's undoing last season. Who wants to see so much twisting, yelling, etc and no explanation of what the design is? 195931

I just finished watching episode #5 and I am totally disgusted. I think that by cancelling Rob's show, Todd will not have much competition! I was really looking forward to see the final competition between the two of them. Right now I think that the judges killed the show...

I am glad Robb went home. He is rude, self centered and arrogant and has a nasty attitude. Talent is not enough. I would not have someone like that work for me or never recommend him. Even those who are rich, would refuse to pay their money to someone so ill manered. He also comes across as very prejudiced against women and those of color. I do love watching the show and has seen all of them so far.
A lot of talent is displayed. They are all very gifted and talented designers.

I wanted to comment on why rob tried 2 throw will under the bus??? Was there alot of editing on the going 2 the chapel episode because from what I saw will helped out alot...Plus I have the biggest crush on Will....Lol, if you read these blogs Will...know that You have a HUGH fan in Chicago and I am hoping you go all the way....Mary from Chicago

I'm sorry this Design Star Challenge has taken the route of "American Idol". The drama is okay, but the meaness is just not in design. Will and Sparkle Josh are my choices. I just love them both, personalities and designs. Some people just have "talent"!!
Posted by Linda Wilson – August 22, 2007 1:01 PM
I don't really like Robb he had a really bad attitude at the beginning. I didn't like his design on the third episode!!I would never have a wedding in vegas!! Anyway, I really hope Robb doesn't win!! Sorry Robb!!:(
Oh yea, I really like watching the show too!!
Posted by lexrox – August 21, 2007 8:26 PM
During the judging session, one judge arbitrarily says that Will has no talent. Why? She gave no reason and the prior week she was ohing and ahing about his room. Plus the fact, Rob was playing dirty by trying to get Rob eliminated because he does not like him. If they were to check the footage, they could have seen that Will was helping as much as they all were. They should ensure that other designers cannot vie to get others off the show. Why should the judges listen to the contestants comments and vote completely on what they are being told. It should continue to be only on merit and not good old boys clubs or those who are socially accepted by others. Be fair! YOu HAVE the tecnology!
Posted by BARAK-GIRL – August 21, 2007 6:54 PM
I am one of the 99.9%of the viewers that did not like the outcome of last night's Design Star.
Is Rob the type of character that the two women judges want to win? His designs are not that great and his attitude stinks.
Will, continue to speak up for your self. Don't let Rob pull you down to his level. You know that type!
Kudos to Vern for speaking up and not letting the other judges sway him to vote their way.
With the exception of Vern, I don't particularly care for the the other two.
I particularly liked"Sparkle Josh",I was sorry to see him be eliminated.
I watch HGTV all the time. Viewers,if Rob gets into the finals don't vote for him, vote for the other finalst.
Posted by speakup – August 20, 2007 12:45 PM
I think you made a big mistake by voting Sparkle off, He had a personality that will take him a long way. Robb is all for himself i did not like the wedding room at all. I like Will design to my opinon his was the best. Kim's was ok.Todd and Robb need to go
Posted by Sandra – August 20, 2007 11:36 AM
Come on...Cocky Robb has got to go. Please say you made a mistake in keeping him and letting Josh & Christina go? Just because the couple had no "class" doesn't mean Robb is a good designer and Todd... he is too much of a big kid and too hyper to be a Design Star...plus creating for his own interest and enjoyment is definitely NOT the interest of the majority of HGTV's viewers. What ARE the judges thinking? Last year's show was so good and I had hoped for the same thing this year...
Posted by Deborah – August 19, 2007 10:35 PM
We'll see where tonights show takes us with Todd. I agree with the rest, I'm not sure why this guy is still around. If anyone put a skateboard ramp in my house or did to my room what he did in last weeks episode, we'd be visiting attorneys! And the fact that he won was beyond me. So he's a carpenter, that does not make him a great designer.
Posted by Karen – August 19, 2007 5:00 PM
Never thought I would comment on who should be canceled. But here I go!!!!! Christina has no talent. And 68 people cannot be all wrong. She has copied but modified Will"s creations.
Sincerely,
Letitia

Rob and Surfer "Dud" need to go. I do not thing the tsunami room should have won. I would never hire him. I love Sparkle Josh.
Posted by Louise – August 16, 2007 7:42 PM
We WILL see WILL in the final 2...............just wait, he's waiting to blow the minds of the judges, you have to watch the "quiet types", the kid is AWESOME in hiding!
Posted by teachforlife – August 14, 2007 2:25 PM
I did not think Todd should have won the individual rooms challenge. They sent Lisa home because they said she made a functional space, non functional. Isn't that what Todd did with his tsunami room? The only thing he left was the couch and a small table. Even though I am not fond of Rob, I thought his room was designed and functional.

I am a great fan of Design Star, I've watched it from the beginning when David won and Alice was grat as well. I love this show so much that it, no longer matter how old I am I'm inspired to take a course in Interior Design. This year the show is very challenging, I happen to like all the designers this year but I'm aware we can only pick one. I'm looking forward to challenge number 4.
Posted by light of the world – August 13, 2007 3:26 PM
I agree with "the Other LeAnn". Rob & Todd may be talented, but for a comic strip maybe. Anybody but them....please.

sparkle josh should have been eliminated in the last show. his design room was crap
Posted by pdc – August 13, 2007 12:17 PM
i love sparkle josh.... one thing about him is that he is not only a great designer but he has personality too.... one person that NEEDS to go is robb. until he gets over himself, he will never be good enough to win.... unless they have a personality and aren't cocky no one will watch them or take them seriously! GO Josh and just go home robb!!!

I am a huge fan of Design Star! I fell in love last year and was so excited to have it back! I even got my husband to watch it with me tonight. I have to say, though, we were both hoping to see Robb leave tonight. I am sooooo tired of him. I think his personality is "like battery acid!" I would never watch his show. Although, that means my husband would have his big tv back! Get rid of Robb, and you will keep me as a loyal viewer. Good luck Christina and Sparkle Josh!

The likability factor is as important as the design.

I am most impressed with Will and Christina. Please, that Josh has got to go!!!!!!!!!!! Too much sparkle all the time. Why do the judges like Todd so much. So far he appears to be an artist not a designer.
Go will and Christina!!

Oh, you've got to be kidding...I'm a pretty progressive person, but pleeease do not let Rob or Todd anywhere near my home! Very creative, yes, but nothing I would want to live in, and isn't that what good design is all about?
And just a little too full of themselves to boot. David Bromstad made it because he was a sharp designer who created livable spaces and had a little humility.
Real, I want real.
Posted by The Other Leanne – August 12, 2007 10:06 PM
I am glad they are giving Sparkle another chance...and Will did a nice job too...and the blond guy's room was very very clever...too bad I can't remember his name...you know, the cocky one.

I think Josh could have done better, I mean it was so flashy. That doesn't mean that I don't like him anymore, I hope that he wins. I like his ideas, and I think he has the personality to be a host of a show. Todd, has been one of those that really thinks outside the box with his designs. With this design challenge, it shows what each person likes, and how they think without other people getting in the way. I mean isn't that what the show is about learning what these people ca do by themselves? With this challenge, I have gotten alot of ideas on cheap designs. I'm kinda glad Adriana is going home. I didn't really like her from the first show. She seems to me like she does not work well with others. She has to have things her way, or she gets mad. I'm just glad that Josh is still in the game.

Just a thought but I wonder what the losers (er, I mean 'contestants') from last year are doing now. I know (of course!!) about David's excellant "Colorsplash" show - I never miss it - and that Alice has her limited series, but what about everyone else that competed last year? Vanessa DeLeon (remember 'glamalistic'?) has her own in interior design firm in Ridgewood, NJ (I grew up there so I know where it is).
Just wondering...
Okay, I'm REALLY liking Sparkle Josh. I just think he'll need to cut his mane abit to have his own tv show, but the boy's got tallent. Handsome too. ;) I'm really looking forward to what Will will do in tonight's show. Kim too. Robb? He can go. So can Mr.FullofHimself: Todd.
Less than 1.5 hours until airtime! Get the popcorn ready!! Where's my comfy pillow?? Give me the damned remote!!!! :)

I am looking forward to the individual challenge. Although Rob is one of my picks to leave tonight I wonder if perhaps he will do better because it is an individual challenge. The winner whoever it is (I picked Scott) will be someone with a lot of creativity since they are at a 99 cent store.

I also am in love with Sparkle Josh. He shows good potential. He's hard working, and so far he is not taking time to play any games.Thank You Sparkle Josh....

I think that the show's two breakout stars are Will and Sparkle Josh, hands down. The real question is whether they have the construction skills needed to match the amazing success of David Bromstad (his current show Color Splash is totally terrific). I'm completely addicted to Season 2 and I'm really looking forward to tonight's episode. Keep shining Will and Josh!!!

Scott has got to dry up those tears. For pete sake, a grown man sobbing all the time, whether it is for pain, drama, excitement, disappointment. Buck up buddy.
Posted by The Funny One – August 12, 2007 2:34 PM
I agree with some of the others. David Bromstad set the bar very high for whomever is to follow. So far I thnk Sparkle Josh is winning. I like that he is different - long hair and all. His personality is infectious (meaning winning). I liked everything he has done do far. I am waiting for tonight's individual performance to see what each one can do on their own working with dollar store merchandise. I would watch a show starring Sparkle Josh, Will, Adrianna and maybe Scott. The rest don't do much for me. I am a devoted HGTV watcher. (there ought to be a show on that). I picked David B out of the gate and was thrilled when he won. Never miss his show, even if I have to catch it at 1 a.m. like Shadylady said.

I LOVE DESIGN STAR. I record the show so I can through and see what happen without waiting for the commercials. I hate waiting a whole week for it. These "designers" seemed so good in the tryout but it seems some don't have the potential- meaning I would not choose them to work on house.
"Sparkle Josh" should be "Posh Josh" I hope he likes that better.

FYI, For all of you who did not see last seasons Desin Star, all of the weekly shows are loaded on this site now!!! You don't have to do anything special or download them. They are just like the rest of the videos on HGTV's site. Just scroll up on this main blog page where we all comment & you will find a section on the right called "More Design Star". Click on that link. Once you do that choose the 1st choice. Every week is in there from start to finish. It was a little time consuming but I really enjoyed the difference in the way the show was run. Clive was more on hand to see exactly what the designers were doing. This year I haven't seen any of that. So if you don't have much to do today check it out. Just thought you might want to know about this because I really enjoyed it.

ROB has to go!! SCOTT has not shown anything so far, and when on his own, we will see if he has to go. TODD looks like he is simply around for the ride, up to this point and ADRIANA did not impress me with that center island she built, although she will speak up for herself. Christina looks like a bit of a Diva and has a superior attitude, which does not mesh well when teamwork comes into play. KIM, at this point, is a team player and does not simply sit around. Which brings me to WILL and SPARKLE JOSH, the two best people on the show so far. WILL has done what he has been TOLD to do so far and he has done it well. SJ has shown that he can take his ideas, run with it and pull it off. He does however have to be careful that he does not get carried away and go over the top, or that will be the one time that will send him home.
I am hoping to see the team dwindle down to WILL, SJ, KIM and ADRIANA.
PLEASE SEND ROBB HOME! HE IS RUDE, CRUDE AND DISRUPTIVE!

I totaly love Sparkle Josh and Will.
Both of their personalities are great! I love Josh's style and I love how Will explains how he is doing things, while he is doing them.
I also think that Scott is a fantastic designer.
I think the final three should be Will, Scott, and Sparkle Josh.
I would love to watch a show hosted by any of those three.
In fact, I would love to watch a show co-hosted by Will and Sparkle Josh. They are so great together. Their work was in sync on the bedroom project. They work well together and they balance each other out. They are both really funny and have great personalities too. A shoe co-hosted by both of them would be fantastic!
Robb needed to go home like two episodes ago, so I am praying he does this week.
I CAN'T STAND HIM!!!!!!!!! I could NEVER watch his show.
Adrianna does nothing for my from a designer stand point, but she is great with carpetry.
Hey, maybe she could be the carpeter on the new deign show staring co-hosts Will and Sparkle Josh.
That would be great!

After watching last week I thought for sure "sparkle Josh" would be the next design star b/c the judges seemed to love him but I think that was done to throw everyone off. What was up w/ the mirror against the rock anyway? I didn't like it and there were too many chairs around the table. I think the next DS is Scott b/c he's the only one who has any formal training in design. If you look at their bios, you'll see most of them (except for Scott) have no formal training in interior design. Not that people can't be talented w/o having gone to design school and w/o having worked as an interior designer but I would think experience helps. I didn't watch the first DS so I don't know if Bromstead had any prior experience or not--maybe someone could answer that for me. But back to "sparkle Josh" I just can't see him starring in his own show w/ that bufont hair. He needs to cut it off and go for a more "clean cut" look.

Shady Lady said exactly what I was thinking. Guess what, I watch Design Star this season without the sound on, and only turn it on when the judges are evaluating. Please producers, do not pick people that do nothing but bad mouth, argue, beret and are so mean spirited to each other. Enough with the tears for goodness sake, it seems the planning is poor, the characters picked for being characters and lose the value of the show with what I feel is now staged. I never miss David and will hate it when his "Star" has left us. He has shown us adults what a true professional is like.
Posted by Mickie – August 12, 2007 12:17 AM
Love the show!! I agree totally with everything the judges have done so far. I love "Sparkle Josh"! He seems to have a great sense of style, scale and use of color and textures. Plus, his personality is charming and he is funny! I am really watching Will. He did great in the first episode and made some great statements in the second, but was plowed over by the "Majority". It will be great to watch this week, to get an idea of each individuals abilities. It is an entertaining show and really makes the reality of someone who "decorates" versus a "designer" come to light.

I really love and enjoy watching HGTV. David is the PERFECT design star! I.m hoping Sparkle Josh wins this year. The others have no personality. I can't imagine watching them in their own show. It would be BORING!So for HGTV viewer ratings would be great with SPARKLE JOSH! Thanks!

I think that the first future star to go should have been Rob. A car door ?????? Lisa at least tried to stick to her style, and she was the first gone. I don't think that being a bully should be part of the challenge, but it seems to be working in place of some peoples talent. I do have to agree with the outcome of the second challenge. Neither of the leaders took the lead in a positive way. I can't wait until the next show.
Posted by Mona – August 11, 2007 9:32 PM
Well- I love this show!I actually like Rob so I am surprised- I think he is being played as the bad boy to add to the drama. His designs at the auditions were quite good. I think Sparkle Josh and Scott show the most talent and design skills. I love Sparkle Josh's personality but I am a little worried- its sounds like his voice on the voiceover saying "I lost" I sure hope not- he really has talent! He also has a truckload of personality- he would be great hosting his own show. I can't stand Adrianna- I can't believe she made the cut- what because she drew a picture of a room- I can do that! Did anyone take a close look at her supposed carpentry skills? Looked poorly done to me and her bedroom in the first episode was cheesy and cheap-looking. Organic Josh had to go- he obviously overstated his skills, doesn't even know how to safely use a table saw, lucky no one got hurr. If I had to choose a designer to do my home- Scott

From the very beginning it was CLEAR clear and more clear that sparkle Josh was the man. I absolutely love his uniqueness, his style, his almost innocent way that he as. Very talented and centered guy who seems to sincerely enjoy what he does. That should be the core to anything we do, isn't it?
Posted by Karen – August 11, 2007 8:23 PM
Vedy interesting, but soooo stupid!! The people with demonstrated talent so far are, Adriana, Todd, and Sparkle Josh. So, that means a lot more will be revealed in show 3 when they all get to do their own thing. Love the show!! Can't wait for it each week and watch each show repeatedly. LoveIT!!! Feel at a disadvantge as watched all of season 1 and would like to see a woman win this time - since a man won last time, and rightfully so - but she has to be the best - and I am not confidant we have a woman who is - but Adriana seems to have it pretty well together! You go, girl!! I'm voting for you!!

I am on pins and needles. I watched last season and had a feeling from the first show that it would come down to Alice and David.
This season I've watched every episode at least twice because I'm not sure of the final two but I am sure that one of them will be Sparkle Josh.
Josh has STYLE galore and I loved that diningroom. The huge mirror against the rock was perfect. He is a world class shopper to have gotten everything he got with limited funds. I would watch Josh's show (I watch "Color Splash" and it is great).
Robb hasn't shown me a thing but pure bad attitude. I'm not a fan of crackle and the last time I saw car parts was in my garage. Let's see what he comes up with in this next challange. I would not watch his show.
Adriana brought me around to her show with that bar/counter top. She pulled a few rabbits out of her hat this week. Let's see what the next challange brings. I might watch her show.
Will has something to bring to the table but he like organic Josh was bulldozed by Robb and Todd in the kitchen challange. I think he could be one of the top three for this challange. I would watch his show.
Todd has a strong almost abrassive personality and I haven't seen much style yet. I can build a half pipe but I wouldn't call it style. I would not watch his show.
Christine is very nice and easy to watch she hasn't had much chance to put her style out there yet. I'm waiting for tomorrow to be able to have a real opinion. I might watch her show. --
Kim, again hasn't had much chance to shine on her own. The individual challange may be her last chance. I might watch her show. --
Scott has my vote for go to guy. I was impressed that he was able to do all that he did in this last callange with the pain he was obviously in. Yes, he cried but who wouldn't under the circumstances? I would watch his show. --
I am anticipating a great show tomorrow and am looking forward to it very much. I'm also looking forward to reading what everyone else thinks.

I am addicted to HGTV in general but watch every Design Star episode repeatedly even if I have to stay up till 1:00 am to view it! My feeling is that no matter what the final design product the person needs to show sensitivity of soul ie: David Bromstead who was never mean, judgmental, cruel or unforgiving to others throughout his tenure in the competitions. I want my Design Star to be a person who I would respect as a friend, co-worker or boss. If ever I were stuck on a desert island and my very survival depended on the integrity of the person helping me design & build my hut, gather food or heal wounds would I choose any of these people? Certainly NOT Robb or Todd who show signs of maliciousness and selfishness. Thus far no one holds a candle to David B...My verdict is out.

Just have spent too much time to just say that I really don't know a pip about designing like the stars but I watch HGTV and many of their programs. Some where along the line they said something about order 10% more tiles than you need, why do I remember that and these talented people don't? Go figure! The other thing is period, Tuscany? Who doesn't really know about Tuscany feel and expression? These people, if they are at all educated, certainly should know something. Good luck to them all, I totally agree with what happened on today's show. Guess what? It was the first time that I really watched it!!! I watch Clive on a different show, he's great. Thanks, Christine

I'm hoping that Robb will find his balance and recognize that the power to win or lose this challenge belongs to himself alone. I would like to see him win it. Also hoping that all the designers focus on what's under their control -- their own work. That's right,no more blame games and no more victims! Easier said than done, but the 99 cent challenge is at least potentially a light-hearted one. I agree that when the designers are working alone, true talents will stand out --and perhaps even sparkle!

I, for one, have not been particularly impressed with this show... It seems to be more about 'personality' than about 'design'... I understand, from a 'production' perspective, that the first thing that must be established is how well the 'chosen one' will work with producers, directors, HGTV in general, and a crew... It doesn't matter how 'good' a designer you are, if no one can stand to work with you, you're out...
And so, here we are, two shows down and the elimination of those who (1) just didn't have the 'desgin' chops to further themselves, and (2) the personalities no one can stand...
I'm much more looking forward to this third show where the designers can showcase themselves without the constant argumentation and compromise that comes with 'team' designing... Quite frankly, if I was forced to work with another designer, (not of my choosing), well, I just wouldn't do it...
It's difficult enough to work with clients; to get your 'vision', your 'interpretation' of their 'vision', agreed upon and made a reality... To have to work with another designer, or in the case of the 'kitchen show', a 'team' of designers, is a prescription for disaster...
Hence, the lack of graciousness between all these people... and this rather grates on me... The emotionalism displayed is so utterly unprofessional...
For my money, the only one who has seemed to 'skate' through the entire 'Design Star' miasma is Josh Johnson... So far, he has proven himself to have the design chops AND a personality that doesn't get caught-up in the unrelenting contentious waves of ego... He remains even-keeled and unruffled about what's happening around him, being able to maintain the focus required to make his 'vision' a reality, come hell or high-water... which, sadly, so far, is pretty much all this show has given us...
