I am so happy that Kim won but not taking nothing from Todd. Kim, I think you are a very special designer with a keen eye on color, settings and you got a drive in you thats hard to overlook. I love your spirit and your love of design. Stay focused and don't let nothing changed you. I know your husband and family are very proud of you, like I am. Good luck in all you do and obtain. May God Bless you always

I am happy for Kim, who grew on me in the later episodes, but I still was rooting for Todd to win. He can do it all. He is awesome. I am disappointed I will not see Todd's show, which would ahve been very entertaining and interesting and great TV. I probably would not watch Kim's show. I did like seeing the personal moments of Kim and Todd with their famlies. Next year, I would like to meet the fammilies of all the design star contestants on TV. I liked the personalties of the contestants this year. It was very interesting and not boring at all. they did a great job of picking the people. They had great personalities and TV personna and senses of humor. I liked the backstage footage too and hope there is more of this next year. I would like 2 hour episodes and one elimination at a time. Maybe give individual challenges earlier like the $500 Decorating Cents show that I love.

I hope My Parents House, Junk Brothers, Whats Up with This House and Design REmix and Design Freestyle all return to HGTV. I like Eric Strommer, Vern Yip's new show, Carter Oostenhause and Steve Watson too. I like the new show with karen Macklin too.

I hope Todd shows up on TV somewhere. He is beyond awesome.

I cast my 'one vote a day' for Kim. What a jip for people who do not text message - HGTV you messed up on the voting this year. Since teenagers would be able to relate to Todd and his teenage antics, I do hope that ALL the teenagers didn't vote for Todd since most teenagers DO have cell phones with text messaging. Kim is much more talanted in interior design than Todd. Todd, you might have a degree in landscape architecture but that doesn't make you an interior designer. What's with all the 'dude' stuff - I thought a person is an adult at the age of 35????? Kim, good luck in your future endeavors and I sure look forward to seeing your new 'Elegant Small Spaces' design show on HGTV.

Wow, I just finished watching design star marathon. It was hard, but hey somebody has to do it. I am quite the hgtv fan, I am a woman nearly middle age with a busy lifestyle probably not that busy since I was able to watch the marathon in two sittings lol. I am hgtv target woman. So, I feel confident that my comment is on target with the stardards of hgtv of providing a show around excellent designs that can appeal to the masses.

At first, I was quite startled by Todd's flamboyance he brought to the show, but his designs were actually pretty good especially after watching the nearly last two competition excluding the final challenge. The Newtons and the firer fighter's family room were very tasteful done. But I still thinks Kim's designs will hail victoriously. Her designes are more in keeping with the style of hgtv. Brains shall win over brawn, I garuntee. I was able to see through the ploy of the show. Everyone knows sex sell everything. Why else would Todd on ever single episode be nearly naked sporting those tight rock hard abs, so scruptuously? because flesh sells. Most of the challenges were done indoors. Part of his appeal was watching him accomplish his designs, oh yeah...he rocks!!

Kim held her ground especially in the episode where she was confronted by mister meany. Some people just don't have a clue about team work. Well he met his timely demise. Go Kim. I am woman too, hear me roar...GRrrrr!!!! Woman power at it's best. How can we as viewer sign up for a chance for the next design star Kim to grace us with her presence in our homes, please let me know. I have a very challenging family room with high cathedral ceiling and narrow with quite large patio doors, it's a hard room to decorate.

Kim has what it takes to be the next design star.I'm really excited about the show Sunday night. I'll be setting my TV to autotune!!
I look forward to seeing Kim next year on her own show. Will was also great. They would make a wonderfun team. I want Kim to come to my house so she can redesign my bedroom.

All things said and done, the truth is we viewers never got to see enough of any of the contestants at work. Shots skipped all over the placed and, voila!L the finished product. If judges trully judge on the wee little bit we are shown on TV, this show is a game. Not a bad idea to "circulate" a greater number of judges. That way favorite contestants or favorite designing styles would not be a factor. The choice of contestants was weak, you sacrificed true aptitude for a variety of personality. Too many hyper individuals comfortable viewing. Hope you do better next time around.

Posted by Priscilla – September 15, 2007 3:45 PM

I hope Kim wins. At first I thought Todd would be the best to gain viewers since he is hot and energetic. However, Kim is smiley, sweet, spunky and has a better eye for design. I agree with the person who said if Kim wins Will should be on her show with her. He was great too even though his on camera hosting wasn't as polished as Kim's. that could come with time.
I love looking at Todd's body but he would totally get on my nerves after a while with him throwing his arms over his head coninually yelling "YEAH!!!." He would be great as a carpenter on a show though.

It's KIM hands down!!!

Posted by Bernice Chandler – September 15, 2007 7:47 AM

lwatkins asked, "Who do you hope will win?" I really think that it's obvius that nearly all of the viewers would want Will to win alone, or as a duo with Josh. I did not care for either hotel suite; I suspect that the hotel executives will remove each design. Consider that the rooms have
to be appealing to ALL of the MANY guests who will be staying there. I cannot envision shades of orange or a vivd blue as having "universal appeal," let alone a jellyfish! Think of the principles in "Designed to Sell," which seeks to NOT turn off a potential buyer [or guest.] The purpose should have been to create a suite that is inviting and relaxing, when the guests are not touring. I have absolutely no doubt that Will would have done a much better job; and his hosting is totally charming. If HGTV is interested in appealing to a younger audience, they just need to remember how absolutely thrilled Bridget was with her room in the prior episode.

Someone said that Todd is looking to get modeling jobs. He was on the cover of JCrew and a Maine magazine, according to his website. I think that's his venue.

Kim is going to be spectacular as the next Design Star. I think that the voting has been lopsided, giving people with text messaging 5 chances a day plus online. Some people don't have the money to text that much. Isn't this show for everyone, or just for the well-to-do??

Hello, Kim! G'bye Todd!

Posted by BJ – September 12, 2007 11:49 PM

Kim is the best! Her vision and execution of all of the challenges are great! She handles her self very well even in difficut situations. Her interpersonal skills and so important when dealing with difficult people. I love her sense of style and her use of color. Go Kim. You go girl! I will watch jer new show when she wins the competiion. Love it!

Posted by Rosemary Alexander – September 12, 2007 9:40 PM

I think the judges made some great decisions the whole season. It was interesting to see that we felt the same about many of the contestants. Kim is a natural on television, but her style is nothing new. With Todds creativity I am sure he is capable of creating what is important to any customer. His thumbs up, childlike character does not get in the way of creating style. I would much rather watch him on television because he brings renewed enthusiasm to all project.

Posted by Diane – September 12, 2007 9:38 PM

I voted for Kim, but I have to admit, I was surprised that she didn't realize the old blue carpet in the suite wasn't going to look right with everything else. And I also have to agree with the person who pointed out that white carpet in a coal mine town????? Not unless you want to use a LOT of throw rugs to keep that pretty carpet white. I am not a designer, and I totally enjoyed watching this year's shows. Good luck to both designers.

I THINK IT IS REALLY A TIE BETWEEN THE TWO BUT IF I AM GOING TO VOTE, I HAVE TO VOTE FOR KIM. SHE BRIGHTENS A SHOW UP WITH HER PERKINESS & BEAUTIFUL SMILE. I LIKE HER STYLE & SHE STAYED AS CALM AS COULD BE WHEN THINGS DIDN'T GO RIGHT. SHE JUST THOUGHT ABOUT THE PROBLEM & WENT AHEAD & FIXED IT. MORE EXPERIENCE SHE GETS, BETTER SHE WILL BE.

PERSONALLY, I REALLY ENJOYED LAST YEARS SHOW MUCH BETTER THAN THIS YEAR BUT ONE CAN'T HAVE THE SAME O, SAME O EVERY TIME. DAVID MADE IT EXCITING LAST YEAR & STILL DOES. I TRY TO WATCH HIS SHOW WHEN EVER IT IS ON, BUT FOR NOW I VOTE FOR KIM.

THANK YOU.

GLORIA K.

I would like to see Kim win. She's a natural in front of the camera and her ideas are great. Todd's shirtlessness got on my nerves. I don't mind looking at a pretty man's chest, but it was inappropriate on the show. He should be presenting himself as a professional, not a sex symbol. It crossed my mind that maybe he was hoping to get some modeling jobs and using this tv show as a forum for that. I agree with another blogger that there should be a dress code.

Posted by Emma – September 12, 2007 8:32 AM

I think Kim is talented, likable, and a natural on TV. I found Todd to be annoying and egotistical, and his designs were all the same. I kept thinking that Todd always had his shirt off--even when it seemed totally inappropriate--just to get votes for being a hottie.

I would love to see Kim's show.

I vote for Kim, she is great and I would love to watch her show and learn how to design my house.

Thanks,

Posted by Phyllis Blake – September 11, 2007 11:35 PM

How in the world could the judges think Todd's on camera descriptions were better than Will's? Especially at Wayne Newton's house and the last show Will was in?

Will showed and explained all of the pieces, why they were there and what they brought to the rooms. It was also abvious that Will had the bigger hand in the very first design upstairs in the bedroom. He kept doing better and better and Josh kept staying in the same spot, "sparkle".

I agree with the person who thought that because the judges kept talking about him as "sparkle", he did take it literally. That was too obvious. He should have ignored them and did his own thing.

Will said it in his last show,"what do they want from me"? He was upbeat, happy, great with Bridget, and jumped up and down spontaneiously. They all hugged him.

At Newton's house Kim seemed to look like she was doing a dance routine pointing out the little they did. And Todd started out showing things and then stops and asks."hmmm, where should I look now? Maybe this way, to look at the dining room". He should have showed them the entire turn slowly all the way around and say nothing. He was awful.

Will was great through the whole show. We're going to try to get in touch with him and find out if we could hire him for our house. We have our kitchen to update, basement, great room and indoor swimming pool room, that all need updating.

Thanks HGTV for this show. I just hope you get better judges next show!

Very Sincerely,
Susan

I agree with you TEENA. I watch Design Star to pick up new ideas on DESIGN. For example~I am dealing with my home's 1,250 foot driveway. I watched Todd "rethink" Wayne Newton's living room and the Hawaiian suite room and got inspired to try to rethink the 40 year old driveway area myself. I finally decided to divide it into THREE areas..one area for parking and driving in & out of the garage..one area for a walkway leading to my patio..and one area for a flower garden next to the fence.
All of that instead of "concrete" everywhere~now I will have a welcoming home place, flowers AND a driveway.I thank Todd for thank for that inspiration.
Regarding the show~I am sure whowever wins will be coached and trained into being a good show host so that factor, IMO, should have been minimized or eliminated if the network truly wanted a "DESIGN Star". I thought "Sparkle Josh" would have been the BEST show host of them all, but he, too, as Kim, was a decorator although he was a FABULOUS shopper.
And, yes, I agree that Will should have had more of a shot~he was a comfortable person on camera and I was sorry to see him go.
I also noticed that in each episode the show played a lot of camera time on Kim ~maybe the network thinks SHE is the person THEY stached the deck by showing her more than anyone else??

im voting for todd i like kim i think her work is very good but i like todd better

Posted by chrissy 78 – September 11, 2007 8:08 PM

Kim rocks! It would be JUST too much to watch the surfer dude each week. Good luck Kim!!

Posted by Tuesday – September 11, 2007 3:13 PM

Kim is the one! She is very talented and I disagree that she is not a designer. Todd is really fun to look at and he has talent, but he would be better suited to a show like Evan Farmer or Barry (formerly of TLC) have now. He would also make a great carpenter for a HGTV show.

Posted by Amie – September 11, 2007 1:11 PM

The voting is very, very unfair. I don't text message so I only get one vote per day on my computer. I thought this would be a fair vote but guess HGTV isn't thinking about people who don't text. I would sign up for text messaging but I would have not one to text to as most of my friends are over 60 and they don't text message. Oh well, such is life . . . no one ever said life is fair. I'm so excited to see what Kim will do with her new show when she gets voted in as the best new designer.

Posted by B Best – September 11, 2007 12:49 PM

WILL IS THE BEST!! WHY HGTV ONLY LOOK AT HIS HOSTING? THAT IS OBTAINED WITH EXPERIENCE IN FRONT OF THE TV? HE IS VERY TALENTED AND LOVE HIS DESIGNS..OR THE SHOW IS CALLED HOSTING STAR?
I THINK IF KIM OR TODD WINS MY FRIEND WILL SHOULD BE HIS CO-STAR...DO YOU AGREE?

Posted by Dulce – September 11, 2007 12:45 PM

Me again, the armchair designer. I've been thinking about next year and had a few ideas for you guys at HGTV. Yes, I KNOW you've been waiting for me to write!

How about some different judges? I love Vern Yip, but I think there should be some new insight. There were glaring inconsistencies this season. Do I need to mention Vern commending Todd for the living room half pipe saying it's okay to think outside the box? Yeah, right...we want to skateboard in our living room? Ramona tried thinking outside the box with her vaccuum cleaner "art" last year and see where it got her? That's what should've happened to Todd first thing.

The judges seemed determined not to like Will even though he was a great designer and showed his heart had lots of compassion. They eliminated him when Todd showed the same lack of hosting skills. David's hosting skills were hurried and nervous last year.

We need new judges!

Okay, I'll move on. Why the double eliminations? We would've stuck around and watched a lot more shows. I'm sure Design Star is great for HGTV's ratings. Another blogger suggested that no one be eliminated the first show and that's a pretty good idea.

Are the competitions going to be the same next season? If so, there'll be some pretty prepared designers. You can't tell me that this seasons designers weren't prepared for the first individual challenge (the 99 cent store one.)

Oh, and could there be a dress code? David's shirtless showing off bothered me last year, although he pulled it off with style, but Todd was annoying. Also, Todd's t-shirt that he wore two episodes showing a silluotte of a woman (I've seen similar on mud flaps on trucks going down the highway.) Yes, we got the message Todd, you're a straight guy.

Oh, and one more thing! Why are the texters allowed 5 votes a day? I only have a computer. Why not make it fair and allow only one on both computer and texting?

Thanks for your time!

Kim may NOT be formally trained, but neither are the viewers. Most of us watch HGTV to get ideas from real people who solve real problems...not to see some 35-year old surfer dude who thinks he's 20, and "decorates" accordingly. Everything Todd does is "out of the box" because he thinks "real" is boring. Who would he relate to in the HGTV audience? His immaturity level just jumped out when he said, "my hot wife." Well, he totally lost me there. A mature man would have said, "my lovely wife," "my supportive wife," etc. He's not only immature, he's frenetic and an exhibitionist, both of which I'm uncomfortable watching. I'm sick of seeing his hairy underarms, and would be afraid that wouldn't end if, God forbid, he got his own show. And what would he call this show..."All About Me?"

Posted by Babyjane – September 11, 2007 11:33 AM

I'm an HGTV fan in a big way and have watched every Design Star episode both seasons at least once, some episodes twice. So, here are some of my observations! I think the judges were a bit biased towards Todd because they thought he'd turn out to be another David Bromstead. There are similarities in the two; shirtless, artistic and so on. They ignored Todd's lack of hosting skills and voted off Will instead of Todd which at that point Todd's designs weren't better than Will's. Had they know Todd's motel design would be yet another wave, would they have kept Will? I'd like to think so! I hope the judges will realize their opinionated mistake and do better next year.

I checked out Todd's website at www.epic-spaces.com. If you're wondering who to vote for, check it out. It's a tired repeat of the water and waves. Some of his artwork is even sort of weird and creepy. I voted for Kim! She has talent and is so likeable!

Posted by Marilyn – September 11, 2007 11:28 AM

I think Vern hit it on the head when he said that Kim was advanced in her design. I believe she has more design talent than Todd. Todd doesn't have the showcase presence that Kim does, and I believe her Hawaii hotel suite design showed more depth and design style than Todd who always incorporates his love of any thing to do with the ocean. He didn't take the advice of the judges about his room, where as Kim listened and accepted their advice and came up with an exceptional tropical design.

I would vote for Kim over Todd any day.

Posted by Carol Johns – September 11, 2007 2:35 AM

Kim and Todd have both proved their talents and design expertise. Kim certainly appeals to a more traditional interior design sense. However, I don't really see something unique in Kim's design from other design shows. Todd brings something new, "Totally Todd" which really rocks. There is such a need for weekend getaways, perhaps even fantasy. Todd brings it, and he really could have a "Totally Todd Show", WOW. It is a tough decision, but I "gotta" go with "Totally Todd". Huge Fan, K.R.

Posted by Kindra Root – September 11, 2007 2:17 AM

I really enjoy the show as do all of you! I was interested in the fact that Todd had a spouse and was also interested in the way he treated her so indifferently. But, they were on camera, so, who knows. If Kim is this good WITHOUT training, imagine what she will be like as she matures as a designer. Todd is creative, no doubt, but I would not turn him loose on my house. Maybe younger people respond to his approach more easily, with a sense of adventure. I just wish the show had lasted longer. The double eliminations were a bummer. Didn't it last longer last year? ( I loved the beach cabana elimination last year.) For what its worth, Robb was a very immature character, bad acter all around. He really came through for the last show, so maybe he did some growing up, too. He is where he needs to be....painting!

Posted by Jcarcar – September 11, 2007 1:35 AM

I really enjoyed watching the final challenge last night. The challenge was to design a vaction hotel suite. Kim gets my vote because she designed for the masses. I think Todd's design was limited to a smaller group of people, who are into surfing. Kim's design appeals to any family from anywhere USA. Kim is at home in front of the camera and I can't wait to watch her show. I voted for David last year and he has done well. I think Kim will do well also.

As for Todd, I agree with many of the other bloggers who say Todd will make a great set designer. Don't count Will out. He is talented and I believe we will be seeing him again.

Posted by Felecia – September 11, 2007 1:23 AM

I sure hope that Kim gets it instead of Todd....all I can say or do when it comes to him is just shake my head.....Kim has great taste and is heads above the surfer boy...Keep up the amazing work Kim

Posted by Joni – September 10, 2007 11:33 PM

I think that both Kim and Todd are special in their own ways. Kim is more of a classic designer whereas Todd seems to be so much of an out of the box surfer dude designer I wonder if he were called upon to do a classic design, would he be able to pull it off. If Kim however was given the challenge of "surfer room" she would do it with sophistication. It would really be nice to pair the two in a show together as the classical Kim and whimsical Todd would compliment each other nicely.

Posted by Lisa – September 10, 2007 11:23 PM

no surfer duds sorry... its not even the least bit interesting...

Posted by Dharma – September 10, 2007 11:17 PM

I was very disappointed in the judges this year. I watched last year and they seemed fair.Todd has to win because Kim is NOT a designer. She is very personable, but lacks any skills to design.Anyone could have made her w.virginia room look good, but it looked terrible to me.Her personal space room was nothing but the judges raved about her coffee table and those stupid looking paper plates on the wall. Will should have been in the final 2. The judges didn't want a good designer they wanted a personable person. Why did they eliminate 2 people at a time? The first episode should have eliminated Rob and Neerjana. And I was sick of hearing that one say, that she was living the American dream.I think Will gave good presentations. He's arelaxed personality.First they told him he didn't have enough energy in his presentations, then when they eliminated him. they said he had too much energy.I thought Kim's presentations were phony. When she just spoke on camera, I liked her as a person but I couldn't believe she made it to the final. She had a problem with furniture placement and they kept her.Scott was a good designer, so why didn't they tell him to keep his rooms simpler? The room Todd designed in Hawaii was great! Kim's stunk! I would love to stay in Todd's room but I'd ask the management to move me to another room if they put me in Kim's room. The judges oohed and aahed over her.A lot of you viewers will be influenced by them. Too bad..And letting a couple decide to eliminate Cristina? Let's see some real designers on next years show. Severl come to mind. Candace Olson, Lisa LaPorta,Michael (designer's challenge), Kenneth Brown, just to name a few.Why not have next year's show go to 2 designer's? I would love it it Will designed any rooms in my home. If Kim paid me, I wouldn't let her do any of the rooms. I can decorate as well as she does.Judges, what were you thinking this year? Rob should have been eliminated in the first episode! An ugly car door on the wall? The perfect design show would be, Todd and Will designing and Kim hosting..Think about it..

Posted by Teena – September 10, 2007 11:02 PM

Kim is AWESOME!!!! She deserves to be the next Design Star! Todd is acting like a teenager at age 35! Kim has better taste in design anyway.

I have watched every DESIGN STAR show its my personal time out dont bother me .. I wanted soooo much for DAVID to win and he did I have my favorite this year also KIM all were so neat well almost all there was three I was glad to see go first off the rest are so talented you all have a tough time choosing . I love the show can hardly wait for the new season JUST wich it lasted longer and all did there own challeges like last year ..Iam not to kneen on the team work thing ..

Posted by Rosalie Woods-watts – September 10, 2007 9:49 PM

Since it's "DESIGN STAR" and not "DECORATING" STAR, I would like to see TODD win and will vote for him~it would be GREAT if he had Kim & Will in decorator and assistant slots on the show on occasions too.:)

Posted by Carol Foti – September 10, 2007 9:24 PM

I would vote for Todd any day of the week. Anyone can "decorate" but not everyone can "design". I would LIKE someone to come to my home and think " out of the box"(as Todd does) to make my place more fun and comfortable with his fresh ideas. And give me a new perspective on the space being changed.
I would watch his program to see how he views the show's projects and I think DESIGNSTAR would benefit from him being in the lineup. He definitely is not like the others, thank goodness, who tend to be cookiecutters of one another. Give him a challenge and use his talents.
I also think he is refreshingly honest in his approach and responses by not saying things simply to "fit" or "justify" his creations.
Carol

I guess I am a Design Star Junkie, I cannot miss an episode, and sometimes I get a repeat or two over the week. Both of the finalists are really good, however, I voted for Kim because I like her "style" better. Too bad they both can't have shows, they are so different in their approaches, they both deserve to win!!

I really hope Kim gets it - she is so talented and very down to earth - Todd is a good designer - I really can identify with Kim - she really deserves the Prize - Good Luck Kim, I know you will be great - God Bless you Kim - Good Luck Todd -

When I sit down to watch HGTV I want to be relaxed and learn something that I can incorporate into my own home. Kim has the ability to host a show like this. She's relaxed and her hosting style is serene. Todd is too hyper, jumping around, doing hand-stand etc. and tries to be the "surfer dude" that knows it all. He needs to grow up and act his age! He's 35 not 18! His designs were too far off the page and "out-of-the-box", not something anyone would have in their home.

I think one of the rules of Design Star 3 should be that the contestants wear a top. I don't think a topless lady would be allowed on the show so why should a topless male?

I think Will was the best designer of the bunch and with a little coaching he could become a good host too. Did you see how Todd and Kim "lit up" when they saw Will was there to help them? Kim has my vote!

Posted by Ditzy – September 10, 2007 1:24 PM

If I had a theatrical production company, I'd hire Todd in a heartbeat to design sets! I hope he gets lots of "curtain" calls!

But, I have a house. So I'd hire Kim as a designer. She listens to the client, has the ability to work successfully with a control freak, the self confidence to do a great job, and the humility that makes her so darn likeable!

Posted by Dee – September 10, 2007 11:33 AM

Of the two remaining, I vote for Kim. We don't need another male super abs look-alike on his own show. Besides, all the hype about Kim NOT having any real design experience/training? Todd is a Landscape Architect - Artist - NOT trained professionally in Design either? hello? I agree with many of the other comments: the 2007 season was not as well presented, or judged, as 2006. Challenges were NOT equal for all participants and whose idea was it to dismiss 2 contestants at a time?? Hardly had a chance to see the skills of all involved until it was down to the last 4 and then off goes Will, probably the most talented designer of all. Still, I vote for KIM! She has natural ability and actually listens and works with her clients. Many 'trained' designers are very invested in putting their 'own' stamp on their clients rooms instead of listening/ achieving what they (their clients) really want. And...just because someone has professionally trained as a designer (or teacher/or you name the profession) does NOT make them the best in their field! Inate ability is what carries many talented people through the steps to achieve professional' status. Looking forward to Kim's new show - and trust that HGTV doesn't repeat some of the mistakes made during this season's series in 2008. Let's hope that this show isn't 'rigged' either, as many have mentioned ...

Posted by Jann-TX – September 10, 2007 11:14 AM

I voted for Todd and David the last time for the basic same reason. They both bring forth something new in the way we think about designing. I love Victorian. We all fear the jellyfish, but it is a lovely creature and to use it in design in Hawaii was pure genius. Also, the room he did that looked like you were underneath the sea was again genius. He does the unexpected just like David did with the high back bed the last time. I love HGTV and miss the English gardner show.

I am shocked by the folks on this board who are saying that this season was not good. I loved it! Yes, I agree with a lot of you who are mourning the ouster of Sparkle Josh and Will -- I absolutely loved those two, and was particularly touched by how they bonded with each other. But, I don't want to take anything away from the two finalists just because of those disappointments. Kim and Todd did very good work consistently, and in a competition of this kind, that's what it takes. The only challenge that I thought was unfair was the wedding reception challenge, because a talented designer was eliminated based on the opinion of a single client. That shouldn't happen again.

I really would have enjoyed seeing Will's design if he'd reached the final challenge.

Last year David's hosting skills were in question until the final challenge. In his case, they did not rule based on just hosting skills.

I never understood what was wrong with Will's presentation -- unless HGTV is really looking for a "Todd-like" enthusiasm. I appreciated the knowledge Will presented, and he really had beautiful designs.

The judges also claimed that Will"s designs were "repetitive." Todd has been repetitive in his approach -- I'd say his design style concentrates on HIS Unique Personality and sacrifices comfort and space planning.

Just reading through the comment areas gives you a very good idea about what works for design shows on television. Most people love Sparkle Josh for his personality. We didn't really get to know Lisa.

Scott C. had good design, but over-decorated. He lacked the 'sophisticated eye' that Kim displayed tonight. Adrianna doesn't understand color planning. Neeraja is a double-disaster of failed execution and repellent personality. Christina is a decorator.

Will is a one-trick pony, albeit with a great sensibility. People bag Kim for her lack of design background, but Will has less claim to it than she does!

Robb gets full credit for thinking in 3 dimensions. Todd is an artist. Period. His red room is as unlivable as his blue room. But both are striking!

I voted for Kim, which surprised me. Her deserving design tanked for me, but a little knowledge went a long way. Conspiracy theorists abound, but Kim's InStyle neighbor was never a secret. InStyle doesn't put on this competition. HGTV does.

Tonight she displayed her gumption, willingness to listen, a great color sensibility, thinking in 3 dimensions to solve her space planning, and executed a lovely, tropical room. Todd made art.

My vote's for Kim - I know she doesn't have any formal training, but, she certainly has flair !! I could see myself living in one of her designs - Todd's are just to far out- they would be hard to live with on a daily basis.

Posted by Rai Freels – September 9, 2007 11:58 PM

I enjoyed the show. Kim and Todd were both good in their own elements. However, I believe, Kim rose to the challenge. Todd's main interest, is surfing, and that was reflected in all his designs. They are both very personable and put out alot of energy. Good Luck to both. I voted for Kim, only because I believe she is more diverse and shows different elements and not just one interest.

Posted by Carolee Thomas – September 9, 2007 11:49 PM

HGTV means Home and Garden Television. Todds' designs are more Disney World or Hollywood sets...

I will definitely vote for Kim , I understand her style ,I can come home from work sit in her spaces and relax or entertain. I can't do that in any of Todds' rooms

Posted by Beeveer – September 9, 2007 11:47 PM

I am a HGTV fan, I enjoy watching all the decorating shows, and watch Next Design Star with great interest. most of the comments state that these final contestants aren’t designers but decorators, the meaning may be different but finally it all boils down to be the same. Some of the previous contestants did not have the personality to be on HGTV their persona does not comes off that they can work with the ordinary and every day people or work with a co host and attendants.

Tod is way out in left field with his designs and decorating, someone stated that he should be on a movie set and I agree with that person. Kim represents the ordinary people. Will is rated high on my list he portray that he is a true gentleman. (his girlfriend loses a good thing...smile)

I would not enjoy seeing Tod jumping all over the place during his hosting, Kim display her self as a true lady, not because she is not formally trained, she has a gift and she realized, thank God she got a chance to see her dream come true.

I will be voting for Kim, I loved her design/decorating and hosting personality.

Good luck Kim!!!!!!

i have been totally disappointed with this whole season. i didn't think any of the people had great design skills as the first season cast. i wouldn't watch kim or todd's show.

Posted by Tracy – September 9, 2007 11:24 PM

Sparkle Josh got sent home because judges said all he did was shop but that's exactly what Kim did tonight...shop. Good job by the way but were was the "design" that warrants her to be the next design STAR. But luckily she didn't draw some stupid shark on the wall, frame it, and call it ART! What a Twat, I mean a Todd.

Posted by cj – September 9, 2007 11:17 PM

I vote for Sparkle Josh!!! And Will. together they would make a wonderful show ....

I really got sucked into watching this competition - it was fun getting to know the contestants, even though it was only on a superficial level. I am rooting for Kim - I would want to watch a show hosted /featuring her. I think watching Todd would get old very quickly. As far a design talent goes - I would be more inclined to live in a room designed by Kim, but I think Todd would have a great future with a company like Disney, he definitely thinks outside the box.

Posted by Barb – September 9, 2007 10:56 PM

Kim won this last challange hands down! I hope I've misunderstood the voting rules. I think Clive said that if you have a cell phone and a computer, you get 6 votes. If you only have a computer, you get 1 vote. This is very unfair. I was led to believe that all of us would have an equal say in who gets to be the next Design Star.

Posted by MZCathy – September 9, 2007 10:54 PM

I voted for kim. she has a great sense of style.
Todd is great to look at, But i could learn more from Kim.
Todd is a little to crazy for me.
He should go and join Hildie and Doug on TLC.

Posted by Donna Domagauer – September 9, 2007 10:54 PM

Yes, everyone has his or her favorite "ideal" contestant to win...but it comes down to the final 2, Todd& Kim. I prefer Kim, not just that she's not formatted and academically trained leaves a lot of "room" for idea and design, but also she's likeable and has the presence to host a show. I like Will, too; but he's too humble to host a show, lack of personality (like the host, Clive)...

On the other hand, I just cannot stand a 35 year OLD guy who doesn't have a great body like last year's David (well, David didn't need to bare his chest) acting like a kid (or he thinks he's still one, 35 year-old one, it's pathetic...) , baring chest all the time, yelling "Yeah", "Dude" with hand gesture...he needs to grow up and leave that to teenagers please! I cannot imageine I'd like to watch (or not) him hosting a show doing the same gesture all the time and yelling, oh, guys out there like him, please grow up, because you're no longer a teen, leave that to teenagers, please again...by the way, we already have Matthew McConaughey.

I might p--- off some (?) people who will read this, but I have to say it out of my chest. Sorry!

GO KIM YOU ARE A GREAT DESIGNER . ALOT OF PEOPLE HERE IN MICHIGAN WILL BE VOTING FOR YOU ... YOU PEOPLE ARE RIGHT TODD IS NOT A DESIGNER AND HE DOES ACT LIKE A CHILD . I WOULD HAVE KIM DESIGN MY WHOLE ENTIRE HOUSE , CAUSE SHE DOES DO WHAT THE HOME OWNERS WANT ...

FROM ALL OF US IN MICHIGAN
WE LOVE YOU ....

After viewing all shows this season, I'm not sure I want to continue watching another season. The basis for eliminating some contestants just didn't make sense. OK, I agree that a contestant should have been eliminated for not completing a project (i.e, Neeja), but I can't understand why there would be a rule to eliminate a contestant simply because the client didn't pick a design (i.e., Christina...even though I don't necessarily think she was the best. There were judges who supposedly had some design background who should have made the choice). Now my major problem with the show was the best designer was eliminated not because he wasn't the best, but because his presentation style wasn't great. Of course, I'm talking about Will. What were the judges actually evaluating? A designer or an actor. Will should have been one of the final two and Todd should have been eliminated earlier in the show. That leaves Kim who I do believe has shown that she can DESIGN based on the work she performed on individual assignments as well as her ability work with a team of designers or staff (Do these folks really think they're going to do it all alone if they get their show?) Robb should have never been a contestant and since he was selected for the show, should have been eliminated after Lisa. What a jerk and not one to be trusted (He was supposed to work with both finalists in the last show. But true to form, he checked out what Kim was doing and made a negative remark about her design. Would you want someone backstabbing and not trustworthy on your team?) One last point, I believe the blond jugde was biased and I'd like to know who told her or even believes she has the qualifications to judge anybody's design. I start hearing from her early in the show Will was the weak point. By these blogs, most of America doesn't agree with her. You need new judges (except for Vern) or real designers as judges and not these guys with big heads.

Posted by Debbra – September 9, 2007 10:48 PM

For all of thoses out there who say or even believe about Kim "Could it be her relationship with an InStyle Editor?
Then you must all be blind, she's the best out of the two, all this guy can pull off is water, waves and more cockyness. He and Robb deserve each other.
Come on folks, Todd may be good at thinking outside the supposed box but at least Kim listens to the clients and gives them the best possible design as per their wishes.
Tell me how may poeple will ask or desire Disney Inspired wave all over their home, because thats all Todd was able to pull off.
I'm voting for Kim, America's next Design Star!

Posted by Jorge Corchado – September 9, 2007 10:41 PM

Wow, It amazes me the ignorant opinions and down right nasty attitudes towards some awesome individuals who gave their all in a contest. These two designers and the judges, deserve way more respect and deserve a much better audience to view their show than all of you who have nothing but outrages attitudes towards something that was ment to be FUN. As I emailed one of the designers recently, over a nasty bloggers response, I said, "there are always going to be ignorant people who try to bring you down to their level. They lack genuine care and respect for others. Surround your self with those who only have your best interest at heart."

Best of Luck Todd and Kim, you both worked hard to get to the final two and you deserve it. The judges were right on all the way.

Also, best wishes to ALL the designers for their hard work too. You deserve a big hand and best wishes for all your future endeavors.

Kim did a lovely suite. Soothing, artistic. and can she ever host a show!
After seeing their families, I liked Todd much better than before. However, he keeps designing rooms that belong in a magazine, but would never work for the average homeowner.
Go, Kim!!
If Rob had behaved during the season the way he did tonight, he would not have been so detested

Posted by Sara – September 9, 2007 10:39 PM

This is only the second time i've blogged, but i was so exicted about Kim's room.I think Kim nailed it (excuse the pun). Her room was very tropical and soothing. Her presentation was exellent and she was so natural. I noticed the reaction of the designers, especially Vern. However,I was surprised to see Robb and Will. Robb, true to form had something negative to say. But i think Kim pulled a rabbit out of the hat and proved she has what it takes.

Posted by zee48 – September 9, 2007 10:34 PM

Well good show folks. Todd you should have listen to Vern part of being a design person is listening to your client(s). Design is making a space useful for everyone who may use it. Kim as usual you did a good job designing your space to match the area. Now as for hosting, todd you are just to loud and all over the place. Kim thanks for slowing it down and giving the home decorating tips.

Posted by alrusher – September 9, 2007 10:33 PM

Well, what a journey! Both Kim and Todd are excellent designers. Todd definitely has his own style and colors outside the lines. Kim on the other hand has a more sophisticated style. The big difference is in the presentation. Though Todd showed a huge improvement on the final challenge, Kim is by far the better host. I simply can't decide based on design, as they are both incredibly talented, but uniquely different. I have to go with Kim because overall I think she will make the best show host. Now, can we get Wil as cohost?

Posted by Greg – September 9, 2007 10:28 PM

Will was by far the most talented designer and his elimination demostrated a clear bias. That is unfortunate! However, in his absence, without prejudice and based on the final designs, Kim is the winner!

Posted by Al – September 9, 2007 10:26 PM

The two female judges really messed up this competition from the very start, with their decisions based on non-design issues, especially their interpretation of who would make a good host. Kim should have been eliminated near the start - she ought to go back to hair styling. I don't think Todd is the best designer out of them all but the judges sent home the best designers, and Todd is very creative.

Posted by Tom21201 – September 9, 2007 10:24 PM

Yes...I agree with most. Neither one is really a design star. Kim is nice and her rooms are okay and Todd is innovative...but his design projects lacks little functionality to his rooms. Neither designer holds a candle to the last season's top two! They don't even come close!!! Oh...what a disappointing season this has been!!! I too...will be voting for Kim and will happy for her if she does win. I know it's her dream!!! It's just...that Will out of the four was the best!!! It was nice to see Robb's attitude make a change for the better! Maybe he learned something from this experience? None of us is perfect and we all need to learn...it's just that sometime...we end up learning the hard way!!!

Posted by Teresa – September 9, 2007 10:22 PM

Todd is OK..for the Viewer and Cali Client but Kim is more versatile and has a nice sense of style. I would more enjoy and learn more from Kim as a Designer..Now, Todd is good "Eye Candy" but his style I'm not impressed

Posted by Brina – September 9, 2007 10:20 PM

I watched the Final Design star tonight and was disapointed overall. I voted for Tod, because I thought he did the best job overall and showed the most enthusiasm.

Although, Kim is popular, she has no training and it showed in the Trailer redesign. I was disapointed that the review of the trailer did not show a lot of detail up close, tending to favor Kim.

I think the show became even more of a popularity contest, unfortunate. The show did not take advantage of the Las Vegas venue either. How many times must we hear all the qualifications of Vern Yip and the other judges.

Good luck Tod and Kim in your challenge.

Posted by Sam – September 9, 2007 10:20 PM

I love this show. I think the best two are a winner, no matter who gets the title. I love all the Hgtv shows and especially any show that Clive is on.David is remarkable and so are all the other winners. I go to the web site all the time for ideas. Kim has wonderful taste and she could decorate my house any day of the week. Her colors are fantastic. She is homble and her ideas are great.

Posted by Emmy – September 9, 2007 10:18 PM

Well, tonight I definitely liked Kim's design
better because it is looks like a relaxing room to return to after a hot day at the beach or from
sightseeing. Todd is really color blind - what is it with that "blue" color. That color would
blind you when you walk into the room. He got
hooked on that color from the other challenge (very ugly color). Well, hopefully he can take his skateboard and go home!!! Also, please change the judges if you still going to do a Designstar Three. I won't be watching but use a
amatuer judge (average person) and get a realistic opinion. Good luck to KIM.

Posted by MaryLou – September 9, 2007 10:18 PM

Great show. Kim is the best. Todd is fun but a little too - out there. I liked the fact that Rob and Will were brought in to help. Also, it was fun seeing the judges and hearing what they had to say.

In the end, Kim should get the job.

Gotta' close for now. Deserving Design is on and I just love Vern Yip.

Posted by Lynn – September 9, 2007 10:18 PM

Todd is great and gorgeous but Kim is better at design and hosting. Kim got my votes but love that Todd....too bad he is married.

Posted by Connie Frantz – September 9, 2007 10:18 PM

Todd is terrible!!! The only thing he has going for him is his surfer dude looks and the fact that both female judges want to eat him alive everytime he's on camera. Give me a break! "Todd thinks outside of the box"...yeah right, more like a child in a sandbox! Kim has my vote...she is clearly the better designer.

Posted by Doris – September 9, 2007 10:17 PM

Kim is classy. Her hotel suite was beautiful and rich looking. Kim has a lovely voice and I enjoy the way she explains the way a room was done. Todd is cool but his room was not comfortable looking. I would choose Kim over Todd any day of the week for my home. If I want to see great pecs (and great design skills) I'll tune into see David.

Posted by DC – September 9, 2007 10:14 PM

Kim is a true talent. While Todd has an unusual "take" on things, his designs lack finesse. Besides I'm tired of seeing him leap about. Kim is class -- pure and simple. Her design was so warm, delightful, and very Waikiki. (I lived near there for a brief time.) She's warm on camera as well. I'd watch.

Posted by Mellie – September 9, 2007 10:14 PM

I'm kinda tired of seeing Todd's hairy armpits! His design on the final show left a lot to be desired. Kim really strutted her stuff! She's a knockout!!!!!

Posted by musicouzts – September 9, 2007 10:11 PM

I cannot wait to see the results.Todd's design for the winning design a Hawaii a rock star's dream suite. It is playful and geared to totally partying the night away. Kim, on the other hand is my taste to the nth degree. I would love to walk into her hotel suite design and know that I had those plush surroundings to compliment an awesome vacation. Kim's design was so sohisticated. Worthy of penthouse status.
Great Job Kim!!!

Posted by MChambers – September 9, 2007 10:10 PM

Kim's suite was ten times better, her's you could imagine vacationing in. Todd is a one trick pony, his looked like a bad time-share condo the owner decorated.

can't wait to watch Kim's Show.

Posted by Mark – September 9, 2007 9:58 PM

I think Kim is by far the best of the two. Kim is also much better and more at ease hosting. Todd would be best suited to being a set designer in Hollywood. He has great vision but that in and of itself does not make a design star. The blonde judge definately has the eye for Todd. That has been evident from the start. So who is going to be our next design star. I for one will vote for Kim.

Posted by Judith – September 9, 2007 9:54 PM

Kim is a natural design STAR!!! Her designs are for REAL people to function in. She is a REAL person herself and very genuine.
Nancy

Posted by nancy – September 9, 2007 9:41 PM

After less than half the show I can already tell that Todd the Surfer Dude does NOT know what upscale means. His room would look great in a casual, kid-oriented resort but not upscale Hawaii. I can't tell about Kim's yet, but it certainly looks more adult and more upscale.

Posted by Anita – September 9, 2007 9:41 PM

Oh My God....he calls the judges fools and they let Robb come back?!?! The producers evidently didn't review these blogs. Everything I have read about Robb on here is BAD...America HATES him!!! I can't believe they gave him a free trip to Hawaii! I can see why Todd married his wife...she seems as snooty & cocky as he is.
I have really always kind of liked Todd...I picked him to win after Scott got eliminated. Having said that, I think I am going to vote for Kim! She has been very gracious and humble through the whole experience. Todd, on the other hand, has repeatedly stated that he "is going to win". Just because he has a degree doesn't make him a great designer. I missed season one but I went back and watched it on the web and David never acted like Todd has. David was always gracious too!!!

Posted by Terri – September 9, 2007 9:30 PM

Design Star's target audience is probably gay men and straight women. That being said. The winning formula is easy!. Must be male and good body and most importantly shirt-less. I think it's sad because we'll end up with eye candy but not much else.

Posted by cesar – September 9, 2007 9:21 PM

I think you should have a show with Kim as the host and Todd as the wacky carpenter. I would so watch that!

Posted by KRB – September 9, 2007 9:13 PM

The final challenge....first 5 minutes......why does it make me want to vomit? The fake enthusiasm..'I've missed my man' ' I just wanted to hang out with them and drink a glass of wine'....gag me with a spoon...Hawaii with surfer boy and the haircutter......yah lost me.

Posted by kdenning – September 9, 2007 9:10 PM

I think that Kim (in spite of her limited training) would do fine by the time a show is prepared. Todd is too much a shirtless jock like David (and we don't really need more of that).

Interior design does NOT nescessarily require formal training; sometimes it is just natural talent. She also has the bubbly personality that gave Karen McAloon her second show-which I love even more than her "Remix" (because she doesn't have to find all materials in someone's garage or attic).

GO KIM!! I will see the show tomorrow because my TiVo will catch it at 1AM-way too late for me!

Posted by Grandma Birdiy – September 9, 2007 8:46 PM

Well, I like Todd, he's always thinking out of the box. Kim's presentation was excellent on the last episode, however, she seems to be more of a decorator than a designer.

Posted by mary – September 9, 2007 7:43 PM

I will watch the show before I vote. I'm surprised at how many people have already decided. I need to see "the whole picture" before I make a decision!

Posted by Heather – September 9, 2007 7:06 PM

Kim has the personality to host her on show and has demonstrated a design flare. Todd has great ideas, however views every challenge as an art project which lacks funtionality.

Posted by Dee – September 9, 2007 7:01 PM

Okay, let's see how this goes now. Last year we let the twins go early on in the show. So this year we will keep Will right to the almost end. Last year we let a male win so this year we will let a female win. Ho hum.....

Posted by lolly10 – September 9, 2007 6:48 PM

DO ANY OF YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT OUR VOTES WILL ACTUALLY BE COUNTED? I DON'T - THE WINNER OF THIS SO CALLED "COMPETITION" HAS ALREADY BEEN DETERMINED BY HGTV MANAGEMENT. I AM MAKING THAT STATEMENT BASED UPON THE BIAS OF THE JUDGES. TODD WILL BE THE WINNER NO MATTER HOW MANY VOTES ARE MADE BY ANY OF US FOR EITHER KIM OR TODD.

Posted by Carol – September 9, 2007 6:17 PM

I notices my last three blogs were censored but here I am again. HGTV the best is gone, this season's designers, judging and format has fail to inspire or incourage your viewers.
I don't feel Todd or Kim should be the next design star because the judging has been one sided all season.
I will be voting for Kim (because she at least try and admit to having no formal training) and she seem to at least want to learn and be better.
Todd acts like a child, and he is where he is at this point, because of his bare chest(remember it's been done before, David in season one). Todd's work (it can't be called design) has nothing to do with the real work or clients needs. There is no way I would watch a show with him as host.
HGTV should you decide on a season three, please remember to respect your viewer with judging that's fair and honest, challenges that are equal (not kitchen to living room, no double elimations, more views of the rooms and less opinions of the judges.
Your viewer want a station that value it's viewers more than rating.
Will, Josh and Scott the viewers know who the true Design Stars were.

Posted by D Fleming – September 9, 2007 5:39 PM

I didn't see last year's programs but really enjoyed this year's. I must say, though, that I would rather be voting for Will. I understand that the winner has to have a good screen presence but with a little coaching I think Will could have done a great job. Besides, his sincere manner is appealing. Not eveything has got to be flash. I guess it is easier to have a TV personality and use someone else's talent than to create a TV personality. Too bad. I think HGTV could have had a great show with WIll. BUT as he said, he will be a designer, whether onscreen or off. Todd's crazy, wild styles are boring and Kim is only so-so. LEt's see what they do in Hawaii.

Posted by Patsy – September 9, 2007 5:31 PM

I probably will not be voting tonight as I am not impressed with the two designers that are left. Kim really has no design skills. I am not sure how she got this far when she is a hairdresser, cause none of her designs WOWED me. As for Todd he is good at designing but not my taste for a design show I would want to watch or especially designs I would want in my house

Still missing Josh J. Please bring him back HGTV!

Posted by Mary – September 9, 2007 4:13 PM

Good luck tonight . Hope the best one win i have mixed feelings, I know the one viewers like best will win. Go Todd!!! Go Kim!!!

Posted by Bonnie Osteen – September 9, 2007 4:04 PM

Well, I have to say that I like Todd because he thinks out of the box. We watch HGTV for the unique design plans and Kim's designs have been a little too safe in my opinion. My 5 year old son is hooked on the show and starts asking when it will be Sunday each week around Tuesday. Now that school has started, I have to record the show for him! We both enjoy Todd's enthusiasm and desire to design big. If he loses, I think he should be a set designer in Hollywood.

Posted by Tricia – September 9, 2007 4:02 PM

Both Todd and Kim have talent but to be honest I don't see anything exceptional about them to be a "DesignStar". Todd has great presence and he's shown himself to be a great artist, not a designer. Kim also has great presence but I haven't seen anything about her "pop" on screen. The second season of DesignStar has been a let down on almost every level. I will watch to see how it goes but the moment Todd says "dude" or Vern starts gushing over Todd I'm going hit the mute button.

Posted by Kevin – September 9, 2007 4:01 PM

Frankly, I have not enjoyed this year's Design Star. Yes, I've watched it weekly hoping against hope that our three judges would wake up and make choices based on fact rather than on emotional feelings. The in-fighting was good for a thrill. I voted last year, but this year, I won't be voting. I don't care for either remaining competitor and would not watch a sow hosted by either of them. I don't particular like watching children at play on TV (Todd) and I'm not about to waste a half-hour of my time watching a novice with connections tell me how to decorate. Perhaps, next year's show will live up the first year's competition.

Posted by Rita Wilson – September 9, 2007 3:54 PM

I'm voting for Todd! I liked him from the start...I think he'd do a great show..either extreme design or for people who want or need something different...of course he'd be terrific doing an outdoor show too. Maybe a landscaping show called DreamScapes! I'd vote for him even if he weren't the only designer left in the competition.

Posted by Vicki – September 9, 2007 2:57 PM

Iam so excited for tonight. iam going to vote for kim. Todd is awful, who in its right mind would wont a serf board in there living room. What part of design is that mess. This much I do know that is not design to me.this year is very unfair . Now sparkle that is a desiner but he never got a chance to show it. Shame on you Design star 2007.

Posted by jan maxwell – September 9, 2007 2:24 PM

WELL.... we sure have some hateful comments on this blog. funny how none of YOU made the show huh?!

Kim and Todd are both delightful I feel the show is a complete success even though it has been somewhat different frome last year. Proof positive is the pation in the blogs I have read today.. some so very negative and yet I'm willing to believe that even those dogging the show did not let anything stand in the way of them seeing each episode.

I am excited for this last episode. If the closing challenge is on equal turf as in the first 'Design star" with the glass houses, then each finalist will have the opportunity to display thier true gifts.

I do have to agree with the fact that the challenges faced by the contestents this year were not on equal ground. HGTV must learn from this mistake for season 3. I'm curious what the outcome would have been had the challenges been on a level playing field. You meant well with pulling the heart string and helping some very deserving families. But some were penalized by local restrictions and hindered from truly shining.

Posted by BB – September 9, 2007 1:56 PM

I was really impressed with Wills designs, and I hated to see him cancelled. I do like Kim's designs, however, I don't think she was on the money with her latest design makeover. Considering where she was I suppose she did the best she could with what was available. I don't want Todd to win. He is stuck in another zone.

Posted by Linda Spencer – September 9, 2007 1:18 PM

While I understood the judges decision in eliminating Will, I must say that I have rarely seen anyone "lose" with such grace. The fact that he was grateful for the opportunity and especially that he thanked Bridget for what he learned from her about being a better person was awesome. He may have lost the opportunity, but this young man will be a winner in life -- I hope he reads this.494324

Kim has the right personality and good 'hosting skills'...and with some professional training could be a good designer. I think she has the interest and ability to learn 'the details'! Todd is probably talented, however, his boastful attitude coupled with hyper childlike behavior would be less than appealing to watch for very long, regardless of his design ability.

I am so excited to see tonight and see the final outcome! I watched last year and I was so excited to see David win. This year I am amazed at the talent. I wish Todd and Kim the best of luck. I think both are deserving of a show. I do have to agree Will was awesome. Glad Rob is gone. Poor Kim!She handle herself like a professional, and she was blessed for it. Can't wait for the outcome!!!!

Add me to the pile of people disillusioned with this season and will likely not vote. I loved both David and Alice last year but this year both Kim and Todd leave me cold. Kim is too much of an amateur and I can't relate to Todd at all. Both of them seem to be there entirely by default due to an incomplete and unfair "reality show" format. I also think that the season flew by too fast for the viewer. We barely got to see any of some of the contestants' work before they were sent home. Really interesting, obviously talented people were flying out the door faster than ever, two at a time. And in the end all the viewer favorites were sent home for what looked like very little reason. Very unsatisfying for the viewer.

I suggest that perhaps a point system should be adopted and all the contestants should participate in every challenge. That way we can get a full idea of their work and there is more basis upon which to judge them. In addition, the public would get to see their favorites until the very end and their departure wouldn't feel so harsh...Perhaps there should be a couple fewer contestants but they should go more in depth on each one.

Also, there should be fewer group challenges and hosting ability should be assessed much earlier in the competition if it is so important that someone can go home on that basis alone. Each contestant should be given early feedback in order to have sufficient time to improve....I'm thinking of Will, who was my personal favorite. I am wondering how someone who is such an excellent designer could be sent home on lack of hosting skills - I personally think hosting skills are secondary and that he could have been brought up to speed quickly with a little training. After all, David B. didn't come out of the box as a good host either...Now he is great, though!

I also think the judging should be revamped. Guest judges should be invited in for each episode and perhaps a changing of the guard of judges is in order too. We want to see more real designers on the judging panel! And the judges should get to see the finished product in person, not just a drive-by on a small screen.

Some of these suggestions were made last year on the message board (i.e., less group challenges) but it seems that they were not taken into consideration. I think it's time HGTV started listening to their die hard fans....We are the people they need to impress, after all...

I think I'll sit this one out and catch up on my reading. Hope the best designers - Adriana, Scott, Christina, Sparkle Josh and the best of them all - Will have great careers. I couldn't watch anymore of this.

If HGTV will have the good graces to have a write-in vote option, I will vote for Will. Neither of the finalists should have their own show, especially Kim. She is an amateur decorator. If there is no write-in vote, I will not vote for either finalist. I have no interest this year in either one of them.

I will for sure be watching to see who wins but I think the the last two standing are the wrong two. I didn't like how you elliminated everyone this year..I feel that some people who were better designers were let go too soon and didn't get a chance and the once without strong designing skills and the whole package anve kind of slid through on others coat tails. I feel that they should be on their own merits. I am not happy with either choice for this years pick. I don't feel that either one has the skills or strengths to carry their own show. I really liked Josh Johnson, because he bargained shopped and had a really unique style of his own, and I also liked Josh Foss, because he was a "Green" designer and we really need to have more of those out there these days and I like his style very much also. I think if the challenges would have been more individual we would have got to see more of how each designer really worked and prepared and designed for themselves and planned and prepared the projects and pulled the whole plan together. I think it would have been more like last year and we would have been able to see their skills more and would have had a better understanding of their capabilities. But I think the way it happened this year..some of the really good people got axed too soon. Just my opinion. I'm looking forward to tonight's winner.

I wish the final two were Kim and Will. Todd needs to GROW UP! Who wants a designer whose only talents are to hang a hammock or build a halfpipe? My kids could do that at 13. Kim and Will both are designers who consider the client first. And WHAT was with Robb? His arogance ruined this entire series.

I agree with so many of you that this season has been disappointingly lackluster. No one really had the charisma of some of last year's participants. No one showed the talent, either. I also agree that Las Vegas was a poor choice. I will vote. I'll wait for the final challenge to make up my mind. I lean toward Kim because I think Todd is a bit too "gimmicky" for my taste. Either way, I don't think we'll see a show as good as "Color Splash". Linda

Hey Kim! All of B-town, California (300,000+ strong) shall be voting for you. You remind us all to go after our dreams. Thank you for staying true to yourself and rising above the false accusations of those who seek to pull you down.
I know Todd has some real talent, but I looking forward to you kicking butt in Hawaii. GO KIM!!

Posted by B-town – September 9, 2007 2:09 AM

Yes, I'm SUPER excited to see what Kim and Todd did in Hawaii! This should be good! I have really been enjoying the whole ride....I'll be sad when it's over.

Posted by chular – September 9, 2007 1:50 AM

Honestly, Sparkle Josh is the Winner! Will and Christina are second place and Todd has potential! KIM IS NOT A DESIGNER. I don't know what she is. How did she even get into this show? By default, Todd gets my vote.

Posted by Beauty Lover – September 9, 2007 1:47 AM

I plan to vote for Kim unless her design is awful and Todd surprises me.

Posted by Catherine – September 9, 2007 12:53 AM

I really can't relate to Todd. I'll be disappointed if he does win. I regularly watch this channel for inspiration. I enjoy decorating and also love to watch the shows where they select a home. Todd hasn't impressed me on any of his design challenges. Yes, he can build but I want design. The builders on the shows are not the design stars. Very sorry to see Will go. (Nice designs. Compared to the others, I would even say great!) And I'll add that I am very naive as well. I thought Todd was going to be canceled with the half pipe, then with the wave, then with the Lazy Susan, but instead the judges rewarded him with praise...I just can't understand. As a fan, I feel let down.

I think many of us didn't realize how far in advance the challenges for Design Star are filmed before we see them on T.V. This means that the judges aren't ignoring what the fans think, we're posting our thoughts long after the episodes are filmed. Ideally the judges would read our blogs so they would have a clearer idea of what HGTV fans are interested in seeing on T.V. and would take that into consideration for DS3. However, considering how insulting and nasty some people's blogs are I wouldn't blame the judges if they give the blog a wide berth. Also, if you log on to www.kimmyles.com you'll read that the clients in West Virginia vetoed hard wood floors and leather furniture which Kim thought would be more practical. She choose the darkest carpet she could get with such a short time frame to work in. She had the same problem with getting the furniture quickly enough, so she had to confine her choices to what was available for immediate delivery. She definitely had the biggest challenge considering how few choices she could make in such rural surroundings. I hope that HGTV takes note of the fans' comments and bring back a few of our favorites, especially Will. Good luck to both Kim and Todd in the final challenge.

I think that Kim will win... I really like them both though - they're both really good in their own ways. But I just think Kim has what it takes.

Posted by Heather – September 9, 2007 12:41 AM

Postponing any suppositions on my voting until after I see the final challenge - but I must say that I haven't felt the LOVE this year.
David and Alice...that WAS something worth voting for last year - loved Alice's designs, loved David's creative nature....and loved both of their attitudes throughout - either one would have been a worthy show.
And actually it was the Christopher Lowell show and the Lynette Jennings show that got me started on my "design" craze (neither one an HGTV listing) but talk about worlds apart in their "hosting" formats.

Posted by Pret07 – September 9, 2007 12:39 AM

I would love to have Kim and Todd both help me design my open patio. I think their expertise could help me come to some conclusion on how to make my outdoor patio a tropical paradise/work out room. Concerning who is going to win. I think it will be Todd because I think he has the T.V. persona HGTV is looking for, but Kim designs would be better.

Posted by TMyers – September 9, 2007 12:21 AM

I'd really rather vote for Will because he should have been the next Design Star. But since the judges could not see the talent, I will have to vote for Kim because I certainly will not vote for Todd who is arrogant and so "stuck" on himself trying to emulate David Bromstad.

Posted by NC Granny – September 9, 2007 12:06 AM

no way i am voting for kim. i dont like how she blames her clients for all the wrong design decisions saying "they didnt want this, they didnt want that" - if she was a true designer she would have come up with solutions that would not compromise good design as well as make the clients happy. all the things she says the clients didnt want are the things people are saying are bad design elements on this board. coincidence? i just can not imagine the family saying to her: "we dont want hardwood floors, we want carpet because we want warmth, but please dont give us warm colors because we want cold colors". can you? blaming bad design on the clients is not only unprofessional, it is immature. at least todd does not blame the clients for anything, he does not blame the weather, he does not blame the location of his job. he tries to make the most of what he has to work with and injects a sense of fun in his design. sure it has some flaws, but not nearly as many as kim's!!!!! kim's mistakes would take a lot of money to fix.

This season has been really exciting! I really like Kim's personality and she really has such good energy about her. Kim has one problem, she is not very talented when it comes to design. She has gotten this far because others have eliminated themselves, and she just happens to be the last one standing! Tell me one amazing thing she has done....yea I know you can't think of anything. The only way that Todd loses is because he rubs people the wrong way and some will vote against him because they dont like Todd, not because Kim is better. I will leave the door open for Kim to due something amazing, but come on people....this one is not even close.. and I don't think Todd is all that great, Kim is just too much of an rookie! Hope everyone enjoys the last episode..bring back JOSH & WILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Laurie – September 8, 2007 11:52 PM

Hi all,

Nope, not excited at all. I just wrote on the other (last comment) about how I am disinterest completely... so no, not excited at all. Kim is cute but not a designer. Todd is creative but not a designer. Will is a designer and is no longer available due to unfair judging. Yes, so true!

I feel that this season is a Flop and do not share in the Iwatkins enthusiasm. Sorry, but can not fane emotion over something as mundane as this season has been. Hawaii is nice but --- not interested at all at watching Todd nor Kim experiment any further with their skills (or lack there of) ooops, that was mean. I apologize and seriously, not sharing in your enthusiasm this time around.

I MISS WILL - MISS SPARKLE JOSH - I MISS CHRISTINA (now that would be a show!!!) If someone doesn't pick up that show.....hmmmm, Now that would be a show? Some one please!!!!!!

Thank you for the blog time and enjoy the show --- sorry I can't share in the same emotions and happiness for these two contestants. :(

TODD IS ADORABLE AND KIM'S SMILE LIGHTS UP THE TV SCREEN. WHY NOT FEATURE BOTH DESIGNERS ON THE SAME SHOW. THEIR DESIGN IDEAS WOULD COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER.

PS. THEY CAN RE-DESIGN MY HOUSE ANYTIME!
(I HAVE A GREAT BASEMENT WITH A REGULATION BASKETBALL COURT, TODD WOULD HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH IT)

Posted by Loni – September 8, 2007 11:20 PM

I love Kim's perkiness and feel she would be the best in front of the camera, but Todd seems to have better designs(so far) This year has been disappointing compared to last year. Of course, how can you top David Bromstad. He's fantastic.

Posted by Landa – September 8, 2007 11:06 PM

I hope Kim wins, becasue I just like her better than Todd. He just rubs me the wrong way. like when he keeps taking up for Robb makes you wonder if he is a lot like him. He comes across as a smart a-- and who likes that
Shirley

Posted by Shirley – September 8, 2007 11:02 PM

I could care less who is chosen. Neither has the talent to carry a show. Las Vegas was a bad choice. I don't plan to vote for either one, unless something really fantastic happens.

Posted by Marta – September 8, 2007 11:00 PM

I'm sure HGTV does not care about my lowly opinion but I'm going to send it anyway...It was Michael Payne with "Designing for the Sexes" that got me started watching this channel. His solutions were something to which I could relate.(I wish he was back) I try to watch Joan Steffand every time possible...especially the section where they redesign without spending money. I also like Lisa LaPorta because she shows simple, relatively inexpensive ways to improve a house.
As for Design Star, sending two home at a time is not even close to fair!! I would certainly like to see at least two rooms that each contestant designs - alone - before he or she is sent home.
I wish the judges were people like Joan Steffand, Lisa LaPorta, Michael Payne, Kenneth Brown or Candace Olson.
Oh yes. I will be watching tomorrow. And I will vote.

I think either Todd or Kim will be fine! Either could probably have a good show. Best of luck to both of you!

But, I still miss Josh "Sparkle" Johnson. He has more style, class and taste than anyone else. (plus he's so beautiful!) I can't wait to watch his show one of these days! (please give him a show!) I adore him!

Posted by I heart design star – September 8, 2007 10:40 PM

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens tomorrow but not as anxiously as last year.
This year has been disappointing. I can't put my finger on the problem unless it was Robb. He should never have been in the show. Todd is a poor imitation of David. I'll be voting for Kim although Will was a better designer.

Posted by gloria – September 8, 2007 10:21 PM

I'm guessing it'll be Todd

I'm still HOPING for Sparkle Josh though :-)
I just think that, between the two, Todd would have a more interesting show. I'm guessing his will be an extreme construction show instead of a design show. He is a landscape designer also, right? THAT would be a possibility that I would be interested in.

Posted by Mel – September 8, 2007 10:16 PM

Kim is NOT a Design Star. She has NO design skills and has some how slipped in under the radar. Could it be her relationship with an InStyle Editor?? That's my guess.
TODD you should be the NEXT DESIGN STAR!!!

Posted by Bernie – September 8, 2007 9:57 PM

O come on now!!!! You very well know who will win.
Design Star has nothing do with design. It is the ratings that count. HGTV has created all this contriversy to stimulate ratings. None of the contestants in this series are qualified to have a show in the 2007-1008 HGTV channel. Even if the "audience" is supposedly going to choose the winner, I am sure that HGTV management will announce that Todd won. Ratings, eye candy and abs win over talent.

Posted by Carol – September 8, 2007 9:56 PM

Wow! The Final 2. I can't wait to see what Todd does. He is my favorite for sure! Kim is NOT a designer and has no business having her own show. She is also involved with so much drama:( I will be Voting for TODD.

Posted by Bri – September 8, 2007 9:49 PM

No, I am pretty sure it's going to be the Todd and Kim - who wins by default show. I am sooooo disappointed this year.

Posted by Cheryl – September 8, 2007 9:49 PM

I am so excited for tomorrow night! I am rooting for Todd 100%. He is the epitomy of a TRUE designer. He can do it all and I would love to watch his show! GO TODD!!!
