There is no doubt that Tracee is still there becouse her contentuious ways make for good bring ya back T.v. Right? And that's too bad, although it was very unprofessional for certain few to make fun of her on screen, so she remains.
The judges obviosly did not have to stand in a line and be made to feel like peons, so they should watch their choice of words - I realize only one can win, but hey- take it easy on their feelings.

I haven't seen any talent this season that I would want to turn loose in my home but I have only one thing I want to say. I was bowled over by Vern's remark of "HATING" the room. Even if you are one of the judges Vern, you need to remember you're talking to people like yourself and they have feelings and their families are watching. You should eliminate the word HATE from your vocabulary and practice being more diplomatic and sensitive.

I agree with y'all, the wrong person went home this week ... the show is still feeling its way through the rough spots...but guys don't forget that this is entertainment - give it a rest with all the criticism ....goodnight

I would like to see the producers bring the designers that did'nt make it before for a re -match that will be so cool

Last year's show was a BIG decline from the first, and this one is even worse. Too bad they could not have sent home FIVE people during the first episode---that including Vern, who somehow got his own show--"UN-Deserving", I would say--on which he doesn't know any better than to place candles six feet high up on a wall where no one can reach them!! Who's he to be a JUDGE?
We don't get to see the designers WORKINGS--only crying and fighting and driving! Too many commercials, too! I counted 10 tonight between 2-minute segments of show time. This is a stupid way to run a program! There are maybe three talented and competent contestants--Matt, Mikey V and Jennifer, but they are overshadowed by Stephanie's big boobs and poor English--"that flamingo wouldn'ta WENT in that room"? Puh-leaze---who could watch a show that bimbo hosted? Clearly, the network is NOT listening to us the viewers, but I hope if they do it again next year, they revise and UP-GRADE the format!

OMG!!!, this seasons contestants are not living up to the last 2 seasons. It's hard to judge the designers because the talent is not really there. This weeks episode confused me, if the Thai structure created by Matt was sooo bad, then why is this guy still in the running. I agree that Michaels room did not resemble the country he selected but it was a nice room, def'ly not deserving of him going home. Hopefully, the designers have a chance to read some of these comments, I have read some of them and a lot of good points are made.

I cannot believe Tracee stayed yet again. Her room was horrible. It was just there, no life, nothing.
This season has been one big disappointment.
Posted by Donna – June 29, 2008 10:02 PM
Without a doubt this is the WORSE GROUP EVER! These people ARE NOT DESIGNERS. And if I see another tear - men and women - I'm going to throw up!!! Rather be watching Army Wives. SEND THEM ALL HOME!!!
Posted by BETTY – June 29, 2008 9:56 PM
I was shocked to see D Paul leave and not Tracee. I would rather see good design than all the drama Tracee creates. D Paul should not have left! Love to see Sparkle Josh back! You do bring the Sparkle!
Posted by Sherri – June 29, 2008 7:15 PM
I agree with most of the comments. I used to love watching "Design Star" but I am geting tired of Tracee's attitude and disapointed by HGTV tolerating such childish behavior on the show. I dont watch the show for the drama (live that to Lifetime) but for the originality of the design (isn't it suposed to be that way?) and that is the reason why tracee should have been the first one to go. Sorry girl, but you have no taste and no talent! (and a really annoying personality, get a grip for God sake's)
Please HGTV, less drama and more design!

I don't know if it's just me or what, but I am having some other issues with this show besides the contestants! I just finished watching Deserving Designs with Vern Yip and I was thoroughly disgusted with his designs! He had those folks house looking like a vampire's cave or something! I want to know who chose him to judge a decorating contest! Instead of his show being called "Deserving Design", it should be called "What Not To Do"! Now I have a clear picture of why Sparkle Josh nor Will Smith were not the two finalists last year...these clowns are looking for TV personalities not interior designers! I have YET to be impressed by Kim Myles also!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by MCarson – June 29, 2008 2:20 PM
I think Tracee was a little touchy on the first show but think she has been set up by the other contenders since then to make her look like the bad guy. If you watch carefully it was her team mate who threw the first punch on the last show by bringing up what had taken place on the first show. I do not think there would have been any scene if that had not happened.
Posted by Aneesia – June 28, 2008 10:25 PM
I would love to see the show show (hmmm) more of the actual work that went into each room like they did on the first Design Star. It surely held my attention, just as David's show has, even though his show is not showing as much work as before. Enough drama, get to the real deal!!! Show more work, not more talk. Sparkle Josh has personality enough for 2 shows!!! Come on! Can you picture him doing this new show Reveal something? Yeah, he would be great. Sparkle!!! don't stop being who you are!! Not too much, nicey nicey. I bet you could dish it up with the best!!! Good luck, and I hope they show us work is hard on Design Star 3. Love to all, fans, contestants, and judges. Hi Clivey!!!

I am also very dissapointed that PROFESSIONALISM is a factor being ignored on this show. Judges your catty and snotty behavior is unbecoming. Hello- Martha -- thats you!!! Vern you are sometimes borderline- hard to watch because you clearly have a hard time behaving this way. Cynthia , I can't tell if you're really upset or just supposed to be the "good cop".
I won't know if anyof you shape up because I won't be watching again.

haha i loved sparkles comment about the nailpolish!
anyway....its time tracee gets sent home!!!!she has done EVERYTHING wrong since she got to nashville: she turned all her teammates against her, she lied to the judges, she made all the wrong design choices, and she played it safe. TRACEE YOU ARE NOT MY DESIGN STAR!!!!!!

I think this season lacks luster. So far I don't see anyone as a shining star.
Bring back Sparkle Josh, he has what HGTV is lacking.

I agree with the rest of the audience. This season seems to be a loser. Send Tracee and Stephanie home. Breathe life into Myles of Style. Give us Sparkle Josh. Don't have blogs if the producers don't read them. They need to get a clue.
Posted by Beverly – June 27, 2008 3:07 PM
I'm glad to see real designers on this year's competition. The woman who slam-dunks her teammate to the judges (so far every time) needs to go. I don't care how talented she is--this is totally uncool behavior.
Although personable and talented, the first 2 season's winners are not designers. I'd love to own a painting by David, though!
Posted by becky – June 27, 2008 12:45 PM
I am sure the producers are loving all the comments about Tracee. This is what they are after, because in TV Land this makes the ratings. Even if you promise to not watch because of the drama, they know you will. And speaking of drama, I am sick of it as well. The editing is clearly setting up Tracee to be the Rob of last season and I hardly believe she is as horrible as depicted on the show. Most of the others are very catty too and also should get demerits! :)
HGTV had a great concept in the beginning; showing good design and affordable make overs. Design Star was a fantastic idea; glean decorators from across the country to compete for a design show. Please go back to the beginning concept and realize that your success was the competition aspect and NOT the "reality show formula" - as that will fail in the end. Your viewers are tuning in to see intelligent and compassionate people who love to design. We love the kind spirit seen some of the contestants - that's one of the many reasons Sparkle Josh is so popular! Unfortunately, you lost two of them in the 1st 2 episodes.
Thanks for listening. Thats my 2 cents!
Posted by Gaby – June 27, 2008 12:13 PM
this season is so fake and over dramatized by the decorators and the judges! - just way too stupid. the people on the first 2 seasons had way more class! I just don't see much to watch this time!!!!

I am glad to read that I am not the only one who is less than impressed with "Myles of Style" It just doesn't do anything for me. Although I think Kim is has talent, the show comes up way short. Such a disappointment compared to "Color Splash". Kudos to HGTV for having Sparkle Josh VLOG -- so far, this season needs more Sparkle and less Whining. Tracee needs to get with the game or go home -- who would watch a show with her hosting??? Love you, Josh -- hope to see more from you in the future.

I am loving reading the comments on this page. Sparkle your fans rock. I couldn't agree with you ladies more. Tracee needs to go. (I wrote that before, though. I am hoping someone from HGTV bothers to read it this time.)
I am a teacher who spends her summers decorating and painting. I ADORE HGTV and watch it all the time. While I watch David's show every week and Tivo Kim's show, I don't find either that inspiring. (Kim much less than David. It's clear she was an actress and not a trained designer.)
One of the BEST hosts has to be Karen from Find Your Style. I have learned so much from that show. And who doesn't love Candice Olson? Even my husband will watch her show. As much as I enjoy the ideas of Decorating Cents and Decorating on a Dime, the designs often seem like something I would find in a recent college grad's home or some bachelor's. Vern has great taste, but his style is too comtemporary and sparse for my home.
As for the next Design Star -- I am hoping for Mikey V. I would watch his show because he is creative and knows what he is doing.
Posted by Nicole – June 26, 2008 8:18 PM
Severe lack of interest in this season's designer wannabes. Bored by the drama -- don't watch Jerry Springer either. Where's the design? The oomph? The surprise? Definitely no wow factor here.
We need Sparkle Josh and Will. Can't seem to stay with Myles of Style for a whole episode - design is too weak.
Wake up HGTV before a good thing gets ruined. Dump Vern, ferret out some interesting designers and GIVE SPARKLE JOSH HIS OWN SHOW!

Geez, do the show directors EVER read these posts? I didn't even finish reading all the posts before I could see clearly that we were in agreement that Tracee the Queen Bee (and other "B") should have gone and was only kept for the stupid drama factor. So lame. And the three judges are getting really snotty too. I've seen some of their work and they are not ALL that. It is like they are trying to be too much like American Idol. (NO! I have NEVER watched that show--gag!--but I've seen enough stupid ads to hear how what'shisname is such a jerk to the people and now Vern is starting to sound a lot like that too. Also, ever notice how none of the black men made it? Like the nice personalities--the twins cracked me up! I would have watched the show just for their personalities! Yeah, maybe they weren't the best designers on the planet, but SO many of the HGTV show hosts really...well, suck. (Decorating Cents? How about Decorating Cents-less!) And Miles's show is kind of blah. She seems like someone you'd like to meet for coffee but her show lacks something--like a solid theme or "grabber." Like is it about color or kid's rooms or blending to styles..? It is sort of "low budget" but not to a specific number or anything. It won't make next season.

I had to wait a few days to write. I am not sure that the judges payed enough attention to the garage sale part of the challenge. I do not think D Paul should have been sent home. I am still waiting for the adults to show up. Come on Tracee suck it up and stop crying. I wan to see more of Matt & Mikey V. forget the town cryer

Sparkle Josh, it is great to see you and I agree with everyone else, HGTV needs to give you a show. I am already tired of Tracee whining all the time!! No one has really shined so far, I hope it happens soon........
Posted by Lois – June 25, 2008 5:08 PM
I am very disappointed in this season of Design Star. I really enjoyed last season. I was impressed with Tracee's audition but not with her whining. She is just blaming other people for her own inadequacies. I would like to see her off the show. Having this drama will not make me want to continue watching this season. As far as designing goes, I have not seen anything impressive. I am not interested in watching a show hosted by any of these designers.
Posted by Jennifer – June 25, 2008 1:01 PM
I remember an episode of deserving design that Vern put a full bed with a canopy in some guy's living room because the house was so small that he had no where else to put it. I would have come up with 3 other designs for this room and not made it look so out of place. My point is that even the best so called designers are not so great with their ideas all of the time. So for him to can a great designer and keep the town crier for ratings is totally unacceptable. Maybe Vern better go back to designing school and move the big bed out from that living room.
Posted by rosemarie – June 25, 2008 12:33 PM
I couldn't believe Tracee wasn't kicked off. She clearly should have been the one to go. I am not as excited to watch the show from here on because I am beginning to feel the judges aren't being fair and instead willing to sacrifice those who do deserve to stay for someone who makes for a show in which there's always someone to hate.

tracy and stephie should have gone home not D. Paul I'd like to seen what he could really have done if given 8 more hours. But stephie and tracie need to both go home ....Sparkle I miss you on this years show./

None of the rooms has sparked my imagination. They've either been too predictably ordinary or unpredictably awful. I can't imagine anyone wanting to have a dinner party in that dining room. The sunroom looks like a cave. The tower bed concept was very interesting and well executed. But the top looked unfinished ... even if there are enough other beds and nobody has to sleep there. Scottie's room wasn't nearly as awful as the sunroom or dining room. Dated, yes, but awful and depressing like those other two rooms? no. When I saw that gorgeous wood table I was envious. Then they painted it. If I were one of the designers who had carried that heavy beast into that house, I would have seriously hurt those two girls for painting it. I also agree that none of these designers seems to have a "spark". So far, David and Alice from season 1 still seem to have the most original ideas. I haven't decided about Kim Myles yet. There's something about her style that doesn't seem to fit and her show is very disjointed, although I think her carpenter is awesome. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, one of these designers will bring some excitement and style to one of these challenges. In comparison, I think season 1 was the best. Less drama and more design. Season 2 was the beginning of the "soap opera" mentality for HGTV. I watch to be inspired. So far, I'm not even inspired enough to pick a favorite, and I usually have a fave by week 3. I do agree that Steph and Tracee need to exit soon. Come on, designers, get your "show" on!! And D-Paul and Scottie were sacrificial lambs. When Vern said "you didn't finish your room" I kept thinking ... the dining room was not finished? Why are those two girls still on the show? HGTV needs a good continuity person to remind the judges what they've said and how they've postured about these designs. Scottie at least finished his room, and did it by himself, AND was helpful to any other team who needed help. Every designer works with a team when creating a vision for their client - carpenters, painters, electricians, etc. Same thing goes for their possible HGTV show. No teamwork, no design completed, and that means NO SHOW to put on the air!

Sparkle Josh at his finest! The world loves you and wants to see more of you. These teasers by HGTV every week for 3 minutes is simply not enough to gives us the Sparle we need. HGTV, listen up, Sparkle Josh rocks! He could be the Sparkle and Shine HGTV needs to put the network over the top. Apparently HGTV realizes how much of a draw Sparkle is, thus using him to "SELL" Design Star 3. Sparkle, you were the reason for tuning in last year and the ONLY reason I am tuning in this year! I love you.
Mikey and Matt are still my favorites this week. D Paul should not have been sent home, however, it is HGTV as usual, get rid of the true DESIGNERS and keep those that CANNOT design but that make for good TV with the catfighting...YOU know who you are!
Where are these stores that they are shopping at, I do not recognize any of them!!!
Posted by Keeley Marie – June 24, 2008 6:37 PM
Again, Sparkle Josh, you are very kind. I was sad to see D(Rock)Paul leave the show. I think he has real talent and we are going to miss out on it. I just remember thinking "they are keeping Tracee on for the drama (ratings, hello)" and I don't expect this from HGTV. It will be exciting to see how this progresses.
Posted by Joellen – June 24, 2008 2:59 PM
I am thrilled to see Sparkle Josh again. I hated that he was eliminated last season. He is like pure sunshine. I loved Matt and Michael's room. The black walls were stunning. But agree that they focused only on one side of the room. I wish Tracee would just design and not cause havoc with whomever she has to work. And Steph is too cute. Also love Jen. Want Matt to win, he is so innovative, can't wait to see his next inspirational design.
Posted by Sharon – June 24, 2008 12:15 PM
Tracee needs to go!!! She's rude, unoriginal and selfish. I think the judges only keep her on the show to keep the competition challenging for the rest, to see how they work under pressure. They will eventually eliminate her, but in the process, we'll see the talented ones go first.
I like MIchael but think he's a little too cocky. Mikey V and Matt are the two biggest talents, and I hope they are the remaining stars.

Hi Josh! Okay. All I can say is, "Thank goodness I, at least, have your VLOG to look forward to this season! Otherwise, this might be too painful for me to endure. What is with all the ugliness and bickering with this cast? Yuck! But, just when I think I can't take anymore...there's BEAUTIFUL YOU coming to my rescue with your delightful commentary!
Where to begin? Oh...I know!
I'm starting off with THE MOST IMPORTANT subject of the night...
PLEASE, I beg of you, please tell me that you have a show coming up. Please! This VLOG thing better be just a little teaser of what is to come or Momma ain't gonna be happy...at all!
Secondly, I hate that horrid black living room. It would be a great place to kill yourself in, I suppose. But, I would go in there, on purpose, once. Then, I would chew out the brainiac who did that to my living room, and have him
re-paint it.
And, while I'm at it...The Tiffany-esque living room was fine! (I think Jennifer and Tracee did it?) And, Tracee's chairs were great. And, I'm guessing Tracee is this year's Robb? She's going to get all the bad press? I really liked that room. And, it did not make me want to kill myself. So, I look at that as a plus.
The room by Mikey V., (this year's Todd, I presume?) and Stephanie was awesome. I loved it. In fact, Joshy, I'd love those colors in my Master Bedroom Retreat one of these days...whenever you can fit that in, I think those are my colors of choice. (But, with some added bling, of course)
And, The green, gentlemen's club room was fine as well. The judges came down hard on poor D. Paul and Trish about it not being an updated version of a gentlemen's club room. But...Pray tell, what does an UPDATED gentlemen's club room look like? Anybody? Exactly! It looks eerily similar to a DATED gentlemen's club room. So, what could they have done to make it more updated? The answer is, unfortunately, NOT...to halfway paint (kind of shabby chic white) and break apart a hunting bow and then lean it up against the fireplace. That really, really didn't work for me.
Here's a question...was it D. Paul who was responsible for the cool silver-backed shelves in the first challenge living room? I just can't remember.
Well, Perfect, I can't wait until your next VLOG! It is so good to see you again! And, seriously, please tell me that you have a show in the works. Please!
Love ya. L.

I like black as a wall color and am doing a room in our house in it this summer. Sparkle Josh it's so nice to have your commentary this season.
Posted by Deb in Denver – June 24, 2008 12:23 AM
I think the judges were so wrong to send D Paul home. Tracee should have gone home. She not only can't get along with anyone, all of her design choices in both weeks' challenges were the ones the judges found fault with, correctly. All I can think is that they are keeping her there to keep all of us watching, interested in the drama. Surely someone who's choices bombed both weeks, should have gone home before a guy who only made a mistake on one week, and is a team player.
Posted by Laureen – June 23, 2008 10:57 PM
Sparkle Josh...you are so right about everything you said but your words were more eloquent than what I would have said. HUGE POINTS TO HGTV for enlisting your talents to VLOG this season...I hope there is a permanent place for you "ON AIR" in the near future at HGTV...

I am from Louisville, KY and I am embarrassed to watch this Tracee person so poorly represent our amazing city! I beg you to get her off of the program and hopefully the rest of the team will play well together! I thought I would be such the local person advocate but am amazed to see how negatively one person can impact the total program.
Posted by AMY – June 23, 2008 7:36 PM
LOVE YA JOSH! I look forward to your vlog every week! I hope that when design star 3 is over that we will still be able to see you. We don't want HGTV to take you away from us again! This years show isn't as much FUN as it was with you. Matt and Mikey V look to be the best for this season. I guess they keep Tracie for ratings. Some people like to see that bickering and fighting. Not me. I love to see great designs and genuine people.LOL!
Posted by mary – June 23, 2008 7:01 PM
PLEASE send Tracey home. I don't care if she creates something amazing next week. She can't play nicely with others. Besides, my SEVEN year-old thinks she cries too much. What does that tell you? There is no way I would tune in to watch a show featuring her and her "invisible brown" walls each week. (Who makes a sunroom dark? How did that make sense? To anyone? Ever?) She's a hot mess and needs to go.
Sparkle -- you rock!
Posted by Nicole – June 23, 2008 6:26 PM
Sparkle Josh would have killed on a design for these rooms. SIGH. His vlog is better than the show.
Posted by Jane – June 23, 2008 5:47 PM
Again, this week it seems they send the wrong person home. Why do the judges keep giving Tracee a free ride over better hosts. She just has too much difficulty working with others and she causes friction among the participants and makes it frustrating to watch. D. Paul and Scottie had way more to offer and I wish they had been given a chance over Tracee and Stephanie. Scottie, particularly was host material and both their design abilities just needed another opportunity. Love seeing Sparkle Josh and hearing his opinions. I am still wishing he would be given an opportunity to be on HGTV programming; definitely would watch!!
Posted by Joan – June 23, 2008 5:44 PM
I feel the only reason the judges decided to spare Tracee is because she ads drama to the show. The judges may feel that D Paul perhaps didn't finish the challenge because he was unsuccesfull in incorporating his yard sale piece into the room, but so was Tracee for that matter! She did nothing to her piece, when Paul at least painted it. Tracee should have been cut off by sheer design ignorance - she said that candy dish had an art deco look to it... since when art deco has scalops?!? What a joke! I'm disappointed, I don't think it was fair to sent D Paul home - his idea of lowering the ceilings by extending the crown molding wasn't that bad at all, it just took loads of time. He also never would have chosen some of the hideous JC Penney sale left over looking pieces that Tracee has picked for her rooms.
Posted by Clarisse – June 23, 2008 5:26 PM
I think that D Paul should have stayed and Tracee should have been the one to go home.
Posted by Sherry – June 23, 2008 5:09 PM
Josh, as always, your smiling face is a welcome sight! I was sad to see D. Paul leave. I felt he had talent that was not exposed, and I hope he has the opportunity to do so after he returns home. I'm still waiting to be blown away by any particular designer. I've seen glitter but not the sparkle of "WOW"!!! I look forward to next week's show and your vlog.

Personally I think this challenge was too much for two people to accomplish in 26 hours...if it truly included doing all their own painting, shopping, sewing. I want to see what these people can do with a reasonable challenge...not turning this into HGTV Design Star..AKA...Design Survivor Island. I was not particularly impressed by any of the finished projects.
Posted by Linda – June 23, 2008 3:31 PM
tracee should of gone home last night not Paul. I think that the only reason she is being kept on the show is all of the drama. Does that make it a real competition?
Posted by susan – June 23, 2008 3:27 PM
D Paul was sacrificed and clearly Tracee or Stephanie should have been sent home. Shame on the judges. Shame on them twice for not seeing Micheal does not have any design qualities accept interacting with drama and choosing paint colors.
Posted by Carol – June 23, 2008 2:47 PM
The patterns are definitly starting to emerge now! I do think Matt has the vision, without a doubt, to go far in this competition. This group over all is not addressing the cohesive issue, the walls are just stark for the most part. I liked the muted 'Grace Jones' over the mantel but would have taken the concept further in the space and used it elsewhere. The ghosting effect could have been an inspired treatment used elsewhere, given the haunted aspect of the house! They all seem to have time issues. Tracie needs to chill and do what she's good at, stop pointing fingers over issues that could be representative of her own personal demons. Did I say that? OUCH, sorry!
Posted by Tessa – June 23, 2008 1:45 PM
I agree completely Josh! Even if Tracee has great designs, which we have yet to see, who would want to watch her design show knowing how she treats people and how she whines? Not a pretty site.
Posted by SuzyQ – June 23, 2008 11:33 AM
I think it was wrong to send D Paul home.He has what it takes.
If Stephenie says paint it one more time someone should slap her with a paint brush.
D Paul's room by far was the best. Black should never be used as a paint color for walls! The other 2 rooms look like they came from a yard sale.
Hope to see Tracee and Stephie go home soon. They both have problems. Tracee can't take critizem. And Stephie wants the world coversd in paint,
