With most cabinets now, you get your choice of pulls (we call them drawer pulls or cabinet knobs). This can be an area where you get overwhelmed by choice. There are literally thousands of pulls to choose from now. Everything from colorful glass pulls to handles that look like twigs. We love all the artistic, cool pulls on the market. You can use them as an inexpensive way to dress up a tired kitchen. We did that in our first house.
That said, Gretchen did a smart thing when thinking about pulls for our new kitchen. She wanted to keep it simple, and avoid having the pulls stand out too much. So we went with simply, small, pewter pulls from Home Depot. Here's what they look like-- on the lighter cabinets, and on the darker island. At first I wondered about them being too small. But that hasn't been a problem at all. What kind of pulls do you like?

This kitchen is truly amazing. Are you and your wife designers. We will be building a house this summer and I can't decide on what color cabinets I want. It is between either Maple or white with a maple island. If I could design it anywhere near to this, it would be a white kitchen 100%. This is honestly better than many designer's kitchens I've looked at and I've seen many within the last few months. Really awesome job.

Thank you, but no we are not designers. I do work at Scripps Networks (HGTV) and we had help from a designer on this kitchen. We spent a lot of time planning-- looking at hundreds of photos online and in magazines.

Jim,
It's a fantastic kitchen. What barstools are you using. I need to replace mine, and I love your choice.

Mary,
The barstools came from a local store that carries hundreds of different types. These stools have 'memory' which means that they will always return to the front forward position. They are metal with a finish called, 'phantom' it has a brownish tint and is a little distressed, but not much. The seats are microfiber that looks like suede. The company that manufactures them is Minson.
Hope this helps!

Lovely chice for drawer and cabinet pulls. What would you use for white cabinets. I'm leaning toward wrought iron accessories in my kitchen. Is that too stark?
